Saints' Cruise by 3kids3kats

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We called it the Saints' cruise because we visited St. Croix, St. Maarten, St. Lucia, St. Kitts as well as Barbados. We had never taken anything longer than a 7-night cruise and wondered if there would be enough to keep us occupied on six sea days (3 at the beginning, 5 islands, three sea days at the end. It was a great cruise despite the weather on the way there and back. You can't plan on the weather and RC did a great job keeping us safe and occupied.

First time on this ship. Exceptional cruise, especially with the weather circumstances! by Cwhite1225

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We're in WV, and wanted to try cruising via driving to port. Baltimore is the closest (3 hours) and we enjoyed our previous RC cruise so we decided to try the Grandeur out to celebrate our 3 year anniversary. We ended up having a 6 sea day cruise due to the storm that was brewing off of the Carolinas (25 ft waves, 40mph winds) the Coast Guard closed Cape Henry and thus we had to anchor in the bay until it reopened. Even when it was reopened, Captain Patrick kept everyone safe and decided to let the storm pass by before continuing our sailing. We sailed through 12ft waves and 20mph winds and could feel it! I loved it and didn't get sick, best sleep I got in a long time actually. We ended up skipping Port Canaveral, and only had about and hour and a half at Nassau (11pm-12:30am), but the lone port day was Coco Cay which was the day of our 3 year anniversary and it was everything we needed. A couple on the ship got married there! My boyfriend actually proposed on the ship, at sunset and it was the end to "a perfect day at Coco Cay." We spent the remaining two sea days relaxing and enjoying our new status as betrothed. We booked a Bermuda cruise on this ship for next year and we're looking forward to it!

It was just okay by remslm

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We have sailed the Grandeur several times. We go back and forth between Grandeur and Carnival Pride because the Port is so convenient. Weather issue aside, this was a lack luster cruise with okay food and pitiful entertainment They prioritized the one port to be Coco Cay when they had to cancel two ports. It’s all about cross sales and money money money. They can’t make anything off of Nassau or Florida but they sure can take in the bucks on $80 zip lines and water park tubes that they own. They promoted that “perfect day” the entire trip. The guests had started to make fun of the slogan as we had all heard enough Perfect Day at Coco Cay to be sick.

Wrong time of the year by oldguy61

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The time of year was not well chosen on our part. We did not take into consideration the change over to standard time. The travel through Chesapeake Bay was done in the dark so all the scenery was missed.

Good not Great by CheaterMateo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Baltimore departures/arrivals in November can be dicey. This one was cold for 3 days of the cruise going out and coming in. The weather in Nassau & Coco Cay (2 days) was perfect. Balance of the 8 day trip (if you want to call "arrival day" a day of the cruise, that is) was overcast & rain. But hey, that's just part of the deal, right?

Grandeur of the Seas to Bermuda, October 12 to October 17 by NCRuss

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas

Wonderful cruise with delays on each end due to weather. Bermuda was sunny and beautiful. Our cruise had repairs in the Centrum that limited access and seating, but those appear to be finishing up. Heavy seas coming back to Baltimore had dishes falling in the main dining room.

Good cruise, but hiccups out of Baltimore by Patrick4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas

We were emailed and told the ship was late. We arrived at the port at 1:00 and turned away. My family of 4 had nowhere to go so we sat outside at a strip mall w our luggage and prayed it didn't rain. We finally got on and the cruise was wonderful. For an older ship, it was clean and beautiful. Our bar service folks, stateroom attendants and waiters were top notch. Activities on the ship were well run and the director was great. I know it couldn't be helped, but in the centrum main area to hang out, they had construction crews using Jack hammers, saws and power tools every day fixing damage from the previous cruise. Hard to relax with that. I do feel they compensated us well for cruising out several hours late, no complaints. We got an entire day back on the room, drink packages and cancelled excursions. My main issue is I went daily to the front desk explaining we had flights at noon. I always was told no problem. Day 3 we learned we would dock at 10 AM or shortly after arriving very late. I went multiple times to the front desk and they would not even take my name to get us off first. We were put in the dining hall begging anyone we could find to get us to the front of the line. Ship docks and nobody will listen and even get us in the centrum. My wife found a captain of all people and explained our situation. He personally escorted us off the ship w many apologies. It was the most stressful situation I've ever experienced on a ship. I've cruised many times w RC. The communication was horrible and no plan in place for a late arrival relatively small number of guests. We had our kids w us, it was scary. With that said, the cruise itself was wonderful!

Beautiful Bermuda by itzallmyfault2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

We had a good time but this is not the ship for us. It is an older ship and economical but not what we've come to expect from Royal Caribbean. The buffet was not good. The entertainment, very underwhelming. The dining room was awesome and the destination perfect. I need a bigger ship with stabalizers to limit motion of the ocean.

An honest look at our Bermuda Cruise by consultingpastor

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas

Bermuda was a wonderful trip and I would like to go back someday but perhaps do it in seven days instead of five. There were some outstanding things in this cruise particularly in the Great Gatsby dining room. The food and staff there were superb. The friendliness of the staff was outstanding. My main complaints were over the choices of the food venues and the lack of options available late night. All in all a great cruise.
