RCC-Grandeur of the Sea by GraceT

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Ship is well appointed, laid out, and roomy. Formal dining room is large, ornate, and looks like what you see in movies. Casual dining is OK, but not much variety in the food. Food is served "Hometown Buffet" style. Lots of actrivity on board, but much of the entertainment stuff is beyond 10PM. Too late for the geriatric crowd.

a great cruise by Leigh

I have been on this ship 7 times. I have cruised other ships and lines and prefer RCCL. The ship is not too big and not too small. I love the ports and the fact that it is docked (or was) in New Orleans. It is a great location for people in the SE to drive and not have to fool with the expense of airfare. I am sickened that they will not be returning. The captn mentioned the Rhapsody moving to New Orleans but word on the ship is that is a few years away. If they would leave a ship there year round it would help in time...still too many folks in the area are unaware of the New Orleans port. Maybe local TV spots and local cruise rates for folks that drive like they do in the Florida area would help build the business. I take this trip 2 times a year and my parents have already been 3 times....so the ones that know are loyal

embarrassed I paid so little by CandyW

The ship was clean, the staff friendly, and the food was good and plentiful. Lots of activities for me, my husband, my 12 and 10 year olds and any combination. The organization and coordinatioon of all the logistics was remarkable.

The ship is smaller of the RC fleet but very clean - loved the hand sanitizer everywhere. The ports were amazing - I would highly recommend Costa Maya - my favorite stop.

Relaxing Cruise by GwenM1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We were on the Grandeur of the Seas, and we enjoyed the rock climbing wall, the excercise equipment, and the pools. The weather was warm, and we were able to find a pool chair at any time of the day. The excursions at the 3 ports gave us plenty to choose from. We did the stingray city, which was good, and we did the dolpohin swim at Cozumel. The shopping was great at all 3 ports, and the ocean was a beutiful color!

This was our second sail on the Granduer of the Seas. We have done 13 cruises and love them all. The staff was very attentive, the shows were great, the food was delicious. Cruising is the best vacation one can offer.

A Relaxing Cruise!!!! by KellyZ

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Grandeur is an older, smaller ship compared to Royal's newer and larger ships such as the Voyager. I travelled my first cruise ever on the Grandeur 7 years ago, then travelled on Voyager, and what a difference coming back!!!! Still a great ship, but a more intimate setting!

Don't make this mistake by JenaR

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our first cruise and we were very disappointed. We checked into our room only to find that the bathroom had been used (very graphic). We were upgraded into a better room but then told the next day we would have to move because of a miscommunication internally. Bad first two days. We did not like the food, nor the fact that we had to sit with the same boring family of four every night (despite the fact we requested a 8-10 person table). The ports were pretty good, very touristy but at least we felt like we had enough time at each one. The highlight was the service - everyone was very pleasant and friendly (except the manager ont our second day who told us to move- it was eventually rectified but after much stress and our attempt to find accommodations in Cayman so we could leave the ship). I would not recommend this ship as it is pretty worn and the common areas are not well ventilated (smoky). Our bed and pillows were unconfotabel and the couch in the room looked about 10 years old.

Getting out of the cold by KimR6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ONLY thing you have to do is the "Muster Drill" otherwise whatever you want to do is there for you, for all ages. This was a ship we took our first cruise on and we are back. The food was great and you could dance the night away or just go back to the cabin and sleep. There was something to do most all the time. We enjoy just being albe to lay back and relax. We enjoy being able to dock in ports of call but there was one location where we tendered. The crew made even that an enjoyable experience. The crew made even going ashore organized and it ran smothly so there was no stress. We met some truely nice people onboard that we will stay in contact with and maybe even plan another cruise together. Thank you for a vacation to remember.

Just OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! by DanB11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our second cruise with RCL and I have to say that I don't think I will be traveling with them again unless its with a big group of people. The food was just so-so. Activities were almost nonexistent unless you liked nonstop trivia contests and rock climbing. This cruise was just not up to the standards I expect from a cruise. I am not a first time cruiser, I have cruised 14 times and I would rate all the others better.

A great relaxing cruise by HalS1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship is a little older than most, but was in very good shape. Everything was clean and bright. The small size makes it easy to get around the ship. No need to wait for elevators. The adult pool area is very relaxing. Very good value for the money.

The Grandeur of the Seas is a beautiful ship. The outside cabin we had was very spacious and well maintained. In fact, the whole ship is well maintained. We always saw someone painting or repairing something.

great trip by JamesD13

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our trip on the Granduer of the Seas was good choice. The crew was most helpful and willing to help in anyway possible. There were lots of activities for everyone thoughout the whole trip. Our food was excellent and plentiful and the waiters bent over backwards to provide anything we asked for. Our rooms were kept clean and made up all during the day and the crew couldn't have been nicer. The programs were well planned for all ages. The evening programs were great except for the musical programs which were too lould and some of the singers tried to put their touch on old establised music and it really spoiled good music. Some left and those who stayed gave it a luke warm reception.

The time of our lives! by KellyS7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We really liked the ship. We have cruised 6 times and have figured out that the smaller ships are the way to go for us. The atmosphere is more intimate and we like the smaller crowds. The ship was beautiful as are all of the Royal Carib ships we have sailed on. We knew going in that it was an older ship but, we don't mind because we like the smaller size.

the ship needs work, our plumbing was bad in our stateroom, there was mold on the walls, but overall a good value for the money.
