RCC-Grandeur of the Sea

Sail Date: March 17, 2007

Reviewed: 9 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Oceanview

Ship is well appointed, laid out, and roomy. Formal dining room is large, ornate, and looks like what you see in movies. Casual dining is OK, but not much variety in the food. Food is served "Hometown Buffet" style. Lots of actrivity on board, but much of the entertainment stuff is beyond 10PM. Too late for the geriatric crowd.

Pros: Formal dining excellent - both food, selection, and service; Cabin stewart was excellent as well.

Cons: Too many college kids - Spring break; Food service beyond dinner was very limited; Gym is small and too warm inside.

Recommends Grandeur of the Seas? Yes!

Food and Dining
Casual dining and availibility of food detracts from formal dining rating.
Ship Quality
Well maintained and clean.
Cabin / Stateroom
Well laid out, lots of storage, beds seem to be sagging in the middle - but was not a problem. TV needs to be update to flat screen - still CRT type. Bathroom was average for most ships.
Service and Staff
For the most part, most helpful and service oriented. Gym director ran the classes, and he was not the friendiest person. People at rock climbing wall were more business like than friendly.
Entertainment
Main shows were excellent by cruise standards. Didn't see much afterwards cause past 10PM. Casino was large and well appointed.
George Town, Grand Cayman
Took city/turtle farm tour. Was good value for the $. Most of the avalibility was beach/water sports. No bargins in shopping. Otherwise there is not much to do otherwise.
Cozumel, Mexico
Took city/shopping town. Not much in Cozumel but shopping and beach/water activity.
Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico
Took the Mayan ruins tour - Chacchoben. Was a great tour - guide was very knowledgeable. Tour was very interesting. Recommend it.
