Great Cruise by AntheaT

Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Although an older ship by today's standards not a hint of that was felt. The decor on the Grandeur of the Seas was inviting with opulance all around.. The staff made you feel welcome immediately.

Not so good by LauraW8

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Just returned from 1/17 sailing. Ship alittle old. We had a balcony room and it was very tiny. Only 1 person could pass between the foot of the bed and wall. Breakfast very good. Lots of choices, omelettes, etc. Lunch also good. Sit down dinner was poor. I had shrimp-just ok. My husband had steak- he was unhappy with the quality of meat. No prime rib, lobster tails, etc. We did not do formal dinner. We did do a poolside buffet with chicken and ribs which was ok until we saw a 2 inch cockroach under the table by our feet.Gross!!! I know they exist but do not want to see them while I am having dinner. Stop in Key west was fun but too short. While we were in port in Cozumel, my mother who has emphysema stayed in her room. She said while we were gone they came in and "sprayed" the rooms with a awlful smelling solution and was asked to step out of the room while they sprayed. I can only assume that this was for the cockroaches. The kids club was great and they really took good care of my daughter. Will I go on another Royal Carribean cruise--No.

Fabulous Vacation!!! by BethS4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Since this was our first cruise we weren't sure what to expect, but it was more amazing than we could have imagined. The ship was beautiful and very well kept. There was always something to do and there was no lack of food any time of the day or night (24 hour room service). The entertainment each night was top notch. The staff and crew were the best part. We actually felt like we were leaving good friends when the cruise was over. The staff is professional, polite, very friendly, and go way above and beyond the call of duty to make your trip the best it can be. We really enjoyed the many different options of things to do: trivia games, scavenger hunts, working out, piano bar, movies, relaxing by the pool, playing scrabble, checking out the library, sending an email home, watching karaoke, dance lessons, disco, not to mention eating, eating and eating. The service in the Great Gatsby dining room is the best and we looked forward to dinner each night. Our waiter and assistant waiter were fantastic and quickly learned everyone's names and what little extra things we liked (like passion fruit juice) and made sure we had them every night. We had quite a few food allergies at our table, but that was never a problem and the staff went out of their way to accommodate us. Overall the BEST vacation we've ever taken!!

A disappointing experience by Pk11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Limited hours of buffet and restaurant were restrictive. Service was ok but not exceptional like another Royal Carribean cruise that we took in 2006. We arrived late to Key West and had less than 5 hrs in port. Not enough time! Ship had minimum fitness facilities... Small workout area, no basketball court. Food was ok. Based on our experience my wife and I are not sure that we would cruise again with Royal Carribean.

A wanderful time by Giovannip

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

While a bit smaller than other ships we cruised on the Grandeur of the Sea is very well laied out with spacious common areas, the cabins are large enough for 2 and well appointed. The ship is clean and very well kept. The buffet is average but the main dininig room serves above average food and the service is excellent; i just wish there was one specialty food restaurant on board like in most larger ships

Royal Caribbean 'Grandeur of the Seas' by SimonT

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Having previously been on 3 super Carnival Cruises, we had heard that Royal caribbean was a 'cut above' carnival. Although the cruise was still enjoyable, surprisingly most things did not match the quality of the Carnival cruises. and the entertainment very average by comparison. Not a dissappointment but I recommend another ship. Maybe one of the newer royal caribbean ships will match up?

Great Cruise, but Very Long Lines by ScottC3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We recently traveled Grandeur of the Seas out of Tampa for the first time. The ship is in very good shape with lots of things to keep an active cruiser entertained. The ship had an especially kid friendly crew that paid much attention to their individual needs. I was disapointed in the food selection, but what was offerred was acceptable. Normally I would expect Prime Rib, Lobster, Baked Alaska, and good sized shrimp coctail, but all were missing from this sailing. The adventure ocean was great for the kids. On the down side, we spent over 2 hours checking in and boarding the ship. Additonally, it took over an hour at our first port of Key west to disembark and another hour to embark. This process was nearly instantaneous in Cozumel, but it again took a couple hours to get off the ship back in Tampa. Everyone was commenting on how they had not experienced this before cruising with RCCL. The drivers on the dock talked about this being a normal occurance at this particular terminal in Tampa.

So - So - Nothing Special by BeckyE

Was not much different from a cruise taken four years ago - need updating activities - more communication regarding activities/itinerary. Too much congestion with photographers set up everywhere.

It was a great get-away! by JanetG6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I liked the ports it visited because they are not the typical stops every one else uses. I got to see and visit places I had not seen before! In Guatemala, the port is far from civilization and it takes time to get to places, I went to Quirigu and the bus ride was very long and boring.

Relaxing cruise by BeckyM3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

The staff was great, we were waited on hand and foot and service in all areas was wonderful. I just think if it had an additional resturant then it would be perfect.

extraordinary good time by DarrellH1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a great time. the crew went out of their way to make it a special trip. We enjoyed the relaxed captain and his little comedic remarks. The shore excursions were good on grand caymen and cozamel but some work needs to be done on the ones in honduras and guatamala did not offer a great choice. We would take this cruise again and will recommend it to othjers

A Solidly Mediocre Cruise by MarcyN

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

Although the Grandeur is one of the older and smaller RC ships, she is still attractive and basically comfortable.Visible and constant efforts were made to keep the ship sparkling clean. The dining room staff, cabin stewards, bar staff etc. were eager to serve the customers in any way. This was not our experience, however, with the purser's staff. We had several encounters with different people who all seemed to be trained to say "That is not really part of my job, but I will do it for you as a favor." Since we were dealing with such issues as making sure that information was given to the right people about an injury sustained by my husband on a ship-endorsed excursion, we were not impressed with their customer service attitude. My husband also received only cursory attention from the ship's doctor at the time of this accident.

Return to the Grandeur by GaryS7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

Over all this was a great trip and cruises are what you make of them. This ship is better on the 7 day itineraries. We went for the ports and the price bottom line and RCI delivered. Every ship has odds and ends that arent perfect. My comments are my opinion based on my cruises experiences. This ship has a great all teak wrap around promenade deck.

Super Service on a Beautiful Large Ship by GeorgeS11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Ship was beautiful with comprehensive superb facilities and attentive staff. For our personal taste, it was too large at 2,500 capacity with about 2,100 passengers embarked. In future we'll try to return to ships of about 1,000 passenger size, in which we feel more comforatble. Baltimore departure was driving distance from northern Virginia, eliminating the need to fly. Entering port area and embarking was flawless. Cruise highlight was the extremely friendly staff that provided extraordinary service. One example was our cabin steward, who unobtrusively had the room ready for our return at all times. Another example was the dining staff, from the lead person who went out of his way to improvre our table location to the wait- and bus-staff who catered to every passenger whim. Meals were good, with many choices, inlcuding low- calorie. Our shore hghlight was a world-famous high tea at a fabulous hotel in Bermuda. The only negative was that ship size resulted in a 3-1/2 hour disembarkation wait in spaces that were overly air-conditioned, followed by an hour in traffic leaving the port area. We recommend the ship to cruisers who desire and will use all the amenities, including gambling and the facilities and programs for children.

Overall, A great time had by the entire by StephenK

Easy ship to get to know. I particularly liked that the kitchen is at the end of the ship. This allows you to get from one end to the other on all floors.

A great time! by KellyK3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

The ship was just big enough to get lost on, but small enough to see the same people most days. We made a lot of new friends. My only complaint is that there were stains on the couch in our room and stains on the carpet all over the ship - made it seem dirty.
