Although the Grandeur is one of the older and smaller RC ships, she is still attractive and basically comfortable.Visible and constant efforts were made to keep the ship sparkling clean. The dining room staff, cabin stewards, bar staff etc. were eager to serve the customers in any way. This was not our experience, however, with the purser's staff. We had several encounters with different people who all seemed to be trained to say "That is not really part of my job, but I will do it for you as a favor." Since we were dealing with such issues as making sure that information was given to the right people about an injury sustained by my husband on a ship-endorsed excursion, we were not impressed with their customer service attitude. My husband also received only cursory attention from the ship's doctor at the time of this accident.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The food is plentiful, varied, and beautifully presented, both in the dining room and in the Windjammer lounge. However, it is unmemorable and rarely rises above (or below) mediocrity. Some attempts are being made to add healthier options, sugar-free desserts, etc., which are welcome. The Ben & Jerry bar and the specialty cafe seemed like additional attempts to get us to spend more money, since coffee and ice cream are available in the Windjammer most of the day. We did appreciate that we were allowed to use our soft drink cards at meals, which we had never experienced previously.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
The evening entertainment was disappointing compared to what we have experienced on previous cruises both with RCCL and other lines. Although this was a 13-day cruise, the ship dancers and singers performed in only two productions, neither of which was particularly outstanding. The other entertainers ranged from enjoyable to absolutely awful. One act was so poor it was booed.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
This is an average. The dining staff, cabin crew, etc., were hard-working and very eager to be helpful in evelry way. Our dining room servers were exceptionally patient with a couple who was seated with us and who insisted on repeating lame jokes and silly outbursts. On the other hand, the encounters with the purser's staff left us very unimpressed.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
We like the relative accessibility of the mid-size ship, and the decor is still attractive. The ship is basically very comfortable. Our major complaint is that poor ventilation makes all the lounges constantly smoky, which made it unbearable to sit for any length of time to listen to the music. This is also true of the casino, which we made every effort to avoid.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
We had an inside cabin, so we expected and got the bare minimum in space and comfort. It was kept very clean, however, and the storage options are marvelous.
We have visited Grand Cayman before and continue to be underwhelmed by it. It was here that my husband was injured on a tour that visited a so-called Pirate Cave. We found this tour very tacky, and were also misled by the description to think it would be coimfortably accessible. Since one stop involved climbing up a hill while negotiating some steep rock formations and the Pirate tour, which was unaccompanied by any guide, involved clambering down steep stone stairs.

We took a tour along the lesser visited side of the island and then visited a commercial beach, where all food, beverages, and souvenirs were overpriced and very ordinary.
Don't Miss: Not for everyone, of course, but we really enjoyed visiting the synagogue, which is the oldest in continuous operation in the Western Hemisphere.
If we had it to do again, we would have gone to St. George the first day. We did take a taxi tour of the southern coast and Hamilton which we enjoyed. King's Wharf appears to be the least interesting of the three cruise piers/
