Grandeur of the Seas

Ship: Grandeur of the Seas

Cabin type: Inside

Review summary

Having previously been on 3 super Carnival Cruises, we had heard that Royal caribbean was a 'cut above' carnival. Although the cruise was still enjoyable, surprisingly most things did not match the quality of the Carnival cruises. and the entertainment very average by comparison. Not a dissappointment but I recommend another ship. Maybe one of the newer royal caribbean ships will match up?

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The breakfast and lunch buffets were excellent but the main dining room food was uninspiring and not not always wel cooked. many people repeatedly complained the salmon was overcooked.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
With the exception of the magician act all other was very average.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
First stateroom was unacceptable - kept us awake all night as it was under the dining room / kitchen. We were moved and the new one was very nice.

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
Don't book a ship tour, just get a $15 taxi to paradise beach for the day. watch the tour people arrive 1.5 hrs later having spent $50 to get there.

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

1 out of 5
Progresso is a commercial merchent port. Poverty abounds. Really only a landing point to go on coach tours. Nothing to see there.

Pros: Beakfast Buffet

Cons: Dining Room food choices
