EXCELLENT CRUISE by Cruiser288

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

CAN'T RECOMMEND ANY IMPROVEMENT.   FOOD, SHOWS AND STAFF WERE ALL GREAT.

FIRST TIME IN A BALCONY CABIN. THE EXTRA ROOM AND THE FULL SIZE TUB MADE THE DAY.

VIEW FROM OUR BALCONY VERY ENJOYABLE AND RELAXING.

Not good! by hc4418

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

this cruise was surely not what we expected.  We are frequent cruisers, but this was a disappointment. The ship is in bad shape, but that is apparently caused by little energy from staff.  Railings needed dusting, floors needed cleaning, tables needed wiping off.  One day it rained and they had 30 gallon buckets catching the rain leaking from the ceiling...and it was full of water.  When the floors were wet there was no effort to fun a mop over them.  I feared for walking over the puddles on deck.  The staff was just not concerned about their customers.  At times during this cruise, I would have been hard pressed to even find a staff if an emergency happened.  We did have attentive wait staff for our evening dining.  The food was okay.  Not enough activities to keep the guests busy.  This ship had a huge screen on deck, but they ran pictures of Royal Caribbean signs and the ocean.  What a waste of time.  Our room was very small.  I realize staterooms are usually small, but this was not comfortable.  The beds were nearly on the floor and looked more like cots at summer camp than beds on a cruise ship.  As I mentioned before, we cruise and travel several times a year, but I think we would rather stay at home than do Grandaur of the Sea again!

Grandeur of the Seas by seramoravec

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Favorite was John Blair/cruise director, We have been on 26 cruises and by far he was the best cruise director ever.

Entertainment was excellent especially Tony Tillman.

The ship showed some age and the shower in the stateroom was very small.

We will definitely recommend it to friends.

I would also like to thank Joann Cornelius for being very helpful with our booking.

A mixed bag but overall an enjoyable cruise by SEARAY1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

I would recommend this cruise. Good value for the money. Also if you were never in Bermuda.   The ship does show a fair amount of deferred maintenance.

They have major events in the Centrum, which just is NOT big enough to

hold all the people, while the Crown Lounge that is much larger is nearly always

virtually empty.  The most popular event as usual is the 50's and 60's party.  They did have that in the South Pacific lounge, but it only lasted 45 minutes.  They don't seem to understand who their demographic is and give the guests what they want.

The outside pool has enough chairs even on sea days.  But we hung out in the adults only Solarium.  The ship is easy to navigate and is user friendly.  I asked the cashier in the casino to turn the music  DOWN  in the speaker over the blackjack tournament table so I could hear the instructions and concentrate on my   game and to my surprise, SHE DID!  I came in 3rd in the tournament and won a reasonable cash prize.

Relaxing on the high seas to Bermuda! by Oshbugs

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

The Grandeur of the Seas Ship is on the small, but mighty side. It has everything that you need for a wonderful trip, but no so big that you get lost or confused. The staff were excellent. The Dining Room Servers and our Cabin Steward, were especially accommodating. The waters were choppy on the way out to Bermuda, some rain, which was disappointing. However, our time in Bermuda was fantastic! The weather was perfect. We took the Catamaran trip (offered by , not Royal Caribbean). It was excellent and I would highly recommend it. The Restless Native offered up plenty of activities and hot chocolate chip cookies on the trip back to the ship. Truly a fabulous day! The meals were very good.  We had your traditional beef tenderloin, lobster and shrimp nights.  There was always something for everyone. The comedy shows were  pretty good. My only suggestion is that there should be more activities during the day when you are sea.  The schedule looks full, however, there is usually and upcharge (Bingo at $20.00 per game) or a trivia game with a crew member.  If you are looking to relax and not have a hectic schedule, then this is the cruise for you. The time in Bermuda was short, but we made the most of it. Bermuda is beautiful and certainly worth the trip to see and enjoy. Our cruise consultant Teresa Rechy was so helpful. Her advice was spot on! Would recommend booking with her to help get the most out of your trip!

Great overall service, not good entertainment. by Cruise5555

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

I have cruised with Royal Carribbean twice before.  And this was my 5th cruise.Felt the service in the restaurant was outstanding. Loved Chops and the food quality there.  Waiter was amazing and he was new.

Room attendant was good.  Did not see big improvements on the room side of the renovations they did.

Was as very disappointed in the quality of the shows. Comedians were OK. Second night show was great, the rest were mediocre. Expected more from RC.

Loved going to Bermuda. Great destination.

Grandeur of the Seas not so grand, but still a worthy value by mlphilli

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

First, let me say the staff were exceptionally friendly and efficient in all regards. My second impression is that this boat is looking tired and dated. It's very clean and adequately appointed, but numerous little details belie its age. The entertainment wasn't particularly exceptional but amusing. The dining experience wasn't bad at all but the menus seemed a bit retro. The specialty restaurant we dined in had a pleasant atmosphere but the food seemed like only a slight upgrade from the standard dining room fare. Our stateroom was adequately comfortable but Spartan. The emphasis on this trip was value over glamour, particularly if you're savvy to the numerous extra cost items.

Mostly a good experience by rm6713

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Easy check in and boarding.  Stateroom clean and nice.

Windjammer food variety and quality was very good.  Main dining food was inconsistent.  Some good and some bad.  (Are they trying to get you to buy their specialty restaurants - where the food is consistently very good) ?

One excursion that I bought on their website (pre-cruise) was cancelled because we wouldn't be in port on time.  Really??  Then why advertise it?   And why couldn't they email me to tell me in advance that s was cancelled so I could switch excursions or days?  I am not happy that we were not notified until we were onboard the ship.

Entertainment and activities were good.  Lots of choices.

We experienced good service, but some friends got really slow service in the main dining room some nights.

Nice cruise but rude workers by CV

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The cruise was nice but there were a lot of rude people working on the ship. The lady working the morning sift at the park cafe was rude every morning. I stood back and watch...think it was maybe just me or she was having a bad day. No, she was rude to everyone. The guy working the excursion was just as bad. and on the last day of the cruise you can forget about the workers in the Spa even saying hello.

The ice cream freezer was broke so there was no ice cream for the first four days on the ship.I heard about 5 different people complaining about several things over the course of the cruise as well.

As for the food....The same thing is served at the buffet as in the dinning room it all just depends on if you want to get dressed up or not. The waiter we had was super nice! However, the waiter we had on the morning that we got off the ship not so much...rude. I have been on lots of cruises and I can say this is the first time I have come across rude workers.

Enjoyable by annettecrawford

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Unfortunately I became ill as soon as I boarded. It took three days to get over the vomiting and diarrhea. I didn't feel like participating in any of the onboard activities. Once we arrived in Haiti I felt better and was able to enjoy the wonderful beach at Labadee. We didn't spend enough time in Puerto Rico to do anything but shop for souvenirs.

SECOND TO NONE by gcrawford81

This was my first cruise and  we would have booked another trip, but we could not

decide on where we wanted to go. Your staff high energy and personality are contagious.  We  were very pleased with your  cleanliness, organization, timeliness, attitude, cheerfulness and your astute supervisors Tenisha and the Turkish guy .He had a very keen eye with much  vigilance    not only over his   staff but also with the guest.  I   began  with but switched to we because my travelling

friend Sheila had gone on a cruise prior in 1994. We share the same ideas  that this was  a wonderful experience. Most of all we did not have to search for our luggage. You are super

Our Getaway by carlmazka

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My wife and I enjoy "Cruising " from Baltimore because it is easy to travel the relative short distance from our home in Delaware.

The seas were calm for most of the cruise. There was only one night where the seas turned snotty.

The meals in the dining room were great for the most part. There were a couple dinners which were average. The Waiter and his Assistant treated Us like Royalty.

Most of the entertainment on board was great. They can do without the Flamenco dancers.

Excellent Cruise by klewellyn1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a wonderful time on the Grandeur of the Seas.  The service and entertainment were excellent, as was the food.  They had plenty of activities on board and plenty of shore excursions while at Port.  We would cruise with them again.

Cruise by mgmcnally1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Very disappointed in several things on the ship.  The food was not too good.  We went to all of the places to eat, the original dining restaurant, which was ok; the buffet was much better.  Then we went to the Japanese restaurant, and we love the Japanese restaurant near our home, but did not enjoy this one. Then proceeded to the "Italian" restaurant and was extremely disappointing.  The last one, can't remember the name, but it was about "chills" and that was the best dinner onboard.

We both were very upset and couldn't wait to get back to Baltimore.

Good value, not for the young crowd. by bigb23

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Crew and ship were great.  Ports of call were great except for the vendors in Labadee. DON"T go out back of the "APPROVED" market Hall, they are vultures. Our room was spacious enough but not so clean and our cabin guy wasn't too enthusiastic. He did what was asked of him but I feel we shouldn't have to ask him to run the vacuum or fill the soap or tissues. We finally got clean sheets on the 5th day after we asked for them. definitely suited for the scooter and walker/wheel chair geriatric crowd.

Service was impeccable by michele07720

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was older but well maintained and spotless.  The food and crew were excellent. It was a very relaxing trip.  The ship was a smaller one, so it was easy to get around and not get lost.  The food was excellent.  The only restaurant we did not try was the Japanese one.  We all had a wonderful time.
