Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: North America

Entertainment very good.  Weather not always cooperative. Staff excellent, especially mytime dining staff especially host- Khenn; headwaiter food and beverage Roshmann Coutinho, waiter Indra Leksmana from Bali - very professional and entertaining, assistant waiter Viacheslav.  Cabin steward Ricardo Estargo very helpful.

Food not always up to expectations, especially pastas= sauce was bland and tasted like it came out of a chef boyardee can,  and one night the scallops were 75% invisible.  The fish dishes were good and I loved the lamb.

First time on a cruise by grampa70

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: North America

Our favorite part of the cruise was seeing the different shows they had available. We enjoyed ourselves very much. Really liked the different games that were available to play, like trivia, & tri-bond. Your staff were very helpful to us. We thank the Captain of this ship for getting us safely to our destination. There were days when the sea was very rough! Definitely would go on another cruise. The cabin steward, the waiter, waitress, bartender, and people from your photo gallery were very personal. We would like to thank each and every one of them especially the head waiter. He took the time to know your name and was very friendly! Thank you for making our first cruise very memorable!!Happy

Will do again by hankal

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We have been on this ship 3 times and are booked again in March 2017.  We like the Enchantment better but she is now in Miami.  For the money the value is very good, ports of call are enjoyable.  We usually go off on our own but did take the tour in St Lucia and the Ultimate tour in St Maarten, both worth the price.  We are ballroom dancers as a pastime and would prefer more venues for this but, understand we are in a minority.  Kelly, taught dance classes and was excellent, hope to see her in March.  All in all a very enjoyable cruise.

The Old Grandeur by WoodynDeanie63

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Old ship needs some maintence on it. Love the smaller ships most tho. Friendly staff. Food could have been better with more variety. Entertainment was good. Most activities at the same time so you had to choose missing out on some you wanted to attend. Weather was great. Wish the Enchantment would come back to Baltimore.

Disappointments and suggestions. by drobey03

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

My biggest disappointment was the Royal Suite.  People pay quite a bit of money for this cabin.  Although nicely appointed, there apparently no attempt to provide any sort of buffering/sound proofing to deaden the sounds coming from the Windjammer restaurant above.  Between 5 & 5:30 am every morning I was amongst the galley crew rolling out trolleys and moving things around.  Big disappointment for quite a few bucks.

Also, apparently I was suppose to met and escorted abort by the concierge (per the concierge), but there was a lack of communications as that didn't happen.  For me, not a big deals as I have boarded many ships myself, but there are others who would have been upset.  Might want to see where the breakdown in communications was.

Other items:

Overwhelming stench of sewage when entering the ship.   Sure it was port water and not a ship problem.

Replace "early breakfast" on the Compass with "continental breakfast".  Seemed to confuse some folks.

Have a pre-wrapped sandwich station so people can take a snack back to their cabins.

Double ply toilet paper would be nice, but assume single ply is used to prevent the system from getting plugged up.

Better selection of TV channels.  Noticed that some channels repeated the same shows multiple times during the day.  Sometimes back to back.  Shouldn't be that hard to provide better programming.

Would be nice to have a food station of some sort in the pool area.  Something like a self serve taco, burrito, or burger/hotdog station.

Not allow poolside smoking.  Reminds me of the old 5 foot dividers that Bob Evans had in their restaurants, "what's the point".  All smoking should be confined to the casino (and should not be allowed there), and the muster station deck.

Ships announcements could not be hear in my cabin.

One more thing from a technology standpoint:  have TV interactive account capability.  Most ships have this now.  Would me a very helpful upgrade.

For the most part the cruise was fine.  Cabin noise,  and to a lesser degree, port tours could have better.  But in the end, I will cruise with RCI again,

Other items:

On boarding the ship there was an overwhelming stench of sewage at the port.

Lucked out with weather for a great cruise by rscola2014

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Leaving from Baltimore is a dream since you park within a stones throw of the ship. The cruise director and staff were outstanding in providing continuous options for keeping you busy/entertained if you wanted to participate. The food in the MTD was fine and with the recommendations of the wait staff made decisions easier. The ports were all great with Charleston, Miami and Nassau within walking distance of the ship. We had to skip Coco Cay due to being too windy for the tenders and some shore activities, but spent another day in Nassau. Overall a great cruise. The ship is scheduled for an overhaul which should make it more comfortable and up to date.

The centrum which was a central stage allowed viewing from decks 4-9 for many musical and special events.

excellent cruise. The staff was wonderful.  They were concerned about spreading germs, yet I couldn't wash my hands in my cabins sink because they wouldn't fit under the faucet..

Fun trip by jackieanson

Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

It was an enjoyable trip.  Nice ship, good staff, friendly passengers. The food could of been better.  The specialty restaurants were excellent.  Why can't the quality be better in the dining room and buffet?  Great entertainment and excursions.

Romantic Getaway by sarahvarsik

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

We went on this cruise for our honeymoon with the worry there was going to be children. Luckily for us there wasn't any yelling toddlers, but many retired couples. If you are looking for a lovely, quiet cruise this one is for you! The ports are absolutely fantastic and swallow you up in nature! The boat is older, and doesn't have many of the entertainment aspects. If you are younger and looking for something more thrilling this is probably not the best choice.

Fantastic Fall Cruise by Cruiser12803726

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

This itinerary is our favorite thus far.  The weather was magnificent - cool and sunny, and the fall colors were gorgeous!  We enjoyed Bar Harbor most - the lobster was delicious and our ride through Acadia National Park was filled with breath-taking views!  This is certainly a trip we will plan again.

Cruise to New England by grandmom405

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Great cruise.  The only disappointment was that two tours we really wanted to take didn't start until 3 p.m. and ended at 6:30 p.m.  We like the early seating for dinner and because of the late arrival back to the ship, we would not have eaten until 8 p.m.  We also know we could have tried to get a time at "My Time" dining, but unfortunately, it would still have been a later meal than we would have preferred.

Concerns by mtngirlkim

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Food was not up to par....normally have a hard time choosing because there are so many options....this time hard time choosing because options were not appealing.  Our wait staff....was awesome!!   Was not aware of the gratuities charged per person per day....our agent did not inform us.   When I tried to contact our agent to add deluxe beverage at discount, she was no longer with company!   Was never notified of this!   Moldy fruit in drinks..when I complained received bottle of wine, which was nice, but I had the beverage package, which I had to pay extra for because of previous sentence.  Excursions were expensive....did much better on our own!   Enjoyed most of the entertainment, except the guy playing piano at night in schooner bar was the worst singer!   Needed more diverse activities...trivia and bingo are fine but should have been more!   The entertainment in cerner was great but should have been held in the theatre if u didn't claim your seat hours before u couldn't see.  Quest was fun but again not enough room and hard to get a drink.

I loved this cruise.  Sailing up through New England and Canada.  Take advantage of the excursions. The local guides are wonderful.

On the excursions, try the local foods and brews.  Lobster and crab rolls rule.

New England, Canada cruise by Cruiser94193459

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

We thoroughly enjoyed our. This was the first time we used the My time Dining option and was pleasantly surprised. We were initially upset that having booked the cruise nearly a year ago, we could not get a early seating dining for the cruise. However the My Time Dining Option worked very well as we could sit down to eat at 6:45pm each night, which was better then the fixed early seating option. The head waiter we dealt with each night was brilliant and he ensured we ate at the same time every night, using the same waiters. The new layout of the buffet restaurant worked well and found seating very easy. Apart from Halifax, all the ships excursions were OK. Considering the Titanic burial site was only a 10 min drive outside the city, why didn't the ships city tour, that we took include that in the itinerary ? Its probably the most seen piece of history in Halifax and as such should have been included in our City tour. Our only criticism was the low height of the bed, which my bad back didn't like. Also because of the lack of room under the bed, our suit cases had to be fully opened to get them under the bed !! Fortunately one of our friends warned us of the beds, otherwise we would probably have suffered the same fate as them, who broke one of their suitcases.

New England, Canada from Balitmore On Grandeur of the Seas by sharonhatcher53

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

The excursions were great.  The evening dining was one of our favorite parts of the trip.  We had Pilar from Chili, as our dining hostess who did an exceptional job.  Fitzroy Wallace, head waiter from Jamacia, gave us Excellent service.  His assistant Ankur Upadhyay, exceptional also.  The dining experience in the Great Gatsby was our best so far of any cruise.  Edison Bacalla, stateroom steward provided excellent service.  Cyrus Soloman gave us excellent service in the Windjammer.  And a gentlemen, Raniel helped our friend who is dietetic, get food when the Windjammer was closed, from the Park Grill.  The people made our trip extremely pleasant.

HAD A GREAT TIME by ANGELINEADAMS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

The ship was nice, but I wish there were chairs in most areas designed for us with lager than average hips. I had to sit on benches in the  café and ask for armless chair in the Gatsby dining room. Our waiter, Alex was wonderful as well as his crew. Food in main dining room was good (loved the aromatic seafood soup!) but not great. Since they understandably took away the midnight buffets, they could have used their imagination in the main dining room. We did eat in Chops, the steakhouse, one night since they had to move us to another room because of having to do work where we were and they gave us dinner in our choice of restaurants. Chops was amazing. The food and service by our server, Red, was the best I have had in eons! If I do RC again, I will definitely go to Chops again, just once. My close personal friends in Guest services (had to spend quite a bit of time with them but did get things straightened out) were so helpful. We loved the first room we had on 7th deck, but the beds on the room we got moved to 2 nights before we left were horrible. They were hard, lumpy and almost on the ground. I even asked for new mattresses but they didn't have any so they did bring mattress pads, which helped some. The entertainment was for the most part excellent. I liked that the ship was one of the smaller ones, easier to learn my way around and I got to see a lot of the same people again. Thanks again to Red, Alex, and his crew, and Guest Services.

Cruise to Not-Bermuda by aymster54

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

It wasn't Royal Caribbean's fault that the storms at seas caused us to forego Bermuda and dock at Cape Liberty, Bayonne, NJ. The entire staff did everything they could to make our altered plans as pleasant as possible. The evening entertainment shows were great fun. The food was good, the serving staff proficient and friendly. We were able to take a ferry (at no charge) to downtown Manhattan and spent a pleasant day there. My grandkids enjoyed the activities provided, and my accommodations (an inside cabin) were adequate. I was especially pleased to receive a refund for the trip and look forward to another cruise.

Bermuda Trip on the Grandeur of the Seas-October 8th by ssstevens

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

This cruise to Bermuda never happened and the decision to go towards Bermuda should not have happened in this day and time.  It was the roughest ride ever had on the cruise and we only went from Baltimore to the end of the Chesapeake Bay before we turned around and went past Baltimore to New Jersey. We were told that we were going to Canada and that didn't happened! At first we were offered a 50% on our next cruise and after so many complaints and motion sickness that we received and offer of 100% on next cruise.  The Grandeur of the Seas ship should be rehab because of the many water problems that came in the rooms and everywhere else.
