excellent cruise. The staff was wonderful.  They were concerned about spreading germs, yet I couldn't wash my hands in my cabins sink because they wouldn't fit under the faucet..

Fun trip by jackieanson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

It was an enjoyable trip.  Nice ship, good staff, friendly passengers. The food could of been better.  The specialty restaurants were excellent.  Why can't the quality be better in the dining room and buffet?  Great entertainment and excursions.

Romantic Getaway by sarahvarsik

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

We went on this cruise for our honeymoon with the worry there was going to be children. Luckily for us there wasn't any yelling toddlers, but many retired couples. If you are looking for a lovely, quiet cruise this one is for you! The ports are absolutely fantastic and swallow you up in nature! The boat is older, and doesn't have many of the entertainment aspects. If you are younger and looking for something more thrilling this is probably not the best choice.

Fantastic Fall Cruise by Cruiser12803726

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

This itinerary is our favorite thus far.  The weather was magnificent - cool and sunny, and the fall colors were gorgeous!  We enjoyed Bar Harbor most - the lobster was delicious and our ride through Acadia National Park was filled with breath-taking views!  This is certainly a trip we will plan again.

Cruise to New England by grandmom405

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Great cruise.  The only disappointment was that two tours we really wanted to take didn't start until 3 p.m. and ended at 6:30 p.m.  We like the early seating for dinner and because of the late arrival back to the ship, we would not have eaten until 8 p.m.  We also know we could have tried to get a time at "My Time" dining, but unfortunately, it would still have been a later meal than we would have preferred.

Food was not up to par....normally have a hard time choosing because there are so many options....this time hard time choosing because options were not appealing.  Our wait staff....was awesome!!   Was not aware of the gratuities charged per person per day....our agent did not inform us.   When I tried to contact our agent to add deluxe beverage at discount, she was no longer with company!   Was never notified of this!   Moldy fruit in drinks..when I complained received bottle of wine, which was nice, but I had the beverage package, which I had to pay extra for because of previous sentence.  Excursions were expensive....did much better on our own!   Enjoyed most of the entertainment, except the guy playing piano at night in schooner bar was the worst singer!   Needed more diverse activities...trivia and bingo are fine but should have been more!   The entertainment in cerner was great but should have been held in the theatre if u didn't claim your seat hours before u couldn't see.  Quest was fun but again not enough room and hard to get a drink.

New England and Canada Fall foliage by mkrailey

I loved this cruise.  Sailing up through New England and Canada.  Take advantage of the excursions. The local guides are wonderful.

On the excursions, try the local foods and brews.  Lobster and crab rolls rule.

New England, Canada cruise by Cruiser94193459

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

We thoroughly enjoyed our. This was the first time we used the My time Dining option and was pleasantly surprised. We were initially upset that having booked the cruise nearly a year ago, we could not get a early seating dining for the cruise. However the My Time Dining Option worked very well as we could sit down to eat at 6:45pm each night, which was better then the fixed early seating option. The head waiter we dealt with each night was brilliant and he ensured we ate at the same time every night, using the same waiters. The new layout of the buffet restaurant worked well and found seating very easy. Apart from Halifax, all the ships excursions were OK. Considering the Titanic burial site was only a 10 min drive outside the city, why didn't the ships city tour, that we took include that in the itinerary ? Its probably the most seen piece of history in Halifax and as such should have been included in our City tour. Our only criticism was the low height of the bed, which my bad back didn't like. Also because of the lack of room under the bed, our suit cases had to be fully opened to get them under the bed !! Fortunately one of our friends warned us of the beds, otherwise we would probably have suffered the same fate as them, who broke one of their suitcases.

New England, Canada from Balitmore On Grandeur of the Seas by sharonhatcher53

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

The excursions were great.  The evening dining was one of our favorite parts of the trip.  We had Pilar from Chili, as our dining hostess who did an exceptional job.  Fitzroy Wallace, head waiter from Jamacia, gave us Excellent service.  His assistant Ankur Upadhyay, exceptional also.  The dining experience in the Great Gatsby was our best so far of any cruise.  Edison Bacalla, stateroom steward provided excellent service.  Cyrus Soloman gave us excellent service in the Windjammer.  And a gentlemen, Raniel helped our friend who is dietetic, get food when the Windjammer was closed, from the Park Grill.  The people made our trip extremely pleasant.

HAD A GREAT TIME by ANGELINEADAMS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

The ship was nice, but I wish there were chairs in most areas designed for us with lager than average hips. I had to sit on benches in the  café and ask for armless chair in the Gatsby dining room. Our waiter, Alex was wonderful as well as his crew. Food in main dining room was good (loved the aromatic seafood soup!) but not great. Since they understandably took away the midnight buffets, they could have used their imagination in the main dining room. We did eat in Chops, the steakhouse, one night since they had to move us to another room because of having to do work where we were and they gave us dinner in our choice of restaurants. Chops was amazing. The food and service by our server, Red, was the best I have had in eons! If I do RC again, I will definitely go to Chops again, just once. My close personal friends in Guest services (had to spend quite a bit of time with them but did get things straightened out) were so helpful. We loved the first room we had on 7th deck, but the beds on the room we got moved to 2 nights before we left were horrible. They were hard, lumpy and almost on the ground. I even asked for new mattresses but they didn't have any so they did bring mattress pads, which helped some. The entertainment was for the most part excellent. I liked that the ship was one of the smaller ones, easier to learn my way around and I got to see a lot of the same people again. Thanks again to Red, Alex, and his crew, and Guest Services.

Cruise to Not-Bermuda by aymster54

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

It wasn't Royal Caribbean's fault that the storms at seas caused us to forego Bermuda and dock at Cape Liberty, Bayonne, NJ. The entire staff did everything they could to make our altered plans as pleasant as possible. The evening entertainment shows were great fun. The food was good, the serving staff proficient and friendly. We were able to take a ferry (at no charge) to downtown Manhattan and spent a pleasant day there. My grandkids enjoyed the activities provided, and my accommodations (an inside cabin) were adequate. I was especially pleased to receive a refund for the trip and look forward to another cruise.

Bermuda Trip on the Grandeur of the Seas-October 8th by ssstevens

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

This cruise to Bermuda never happened and the decision to go towards Bermuda should not have happened in this day and time.  It was the roughest ride ever had on the cruise and we only went from Baltimore to the end of the Chesapeake Bay before we turned around and went past Baltimore to New Jersey. We were told that we were going to Canada and that didn't happened! At first we were offered a 50% on our next cruise and after so many complaints and motion sickness that we received and offer of 100% on next cruise.  The Grandeur of the Seas ship should be rehab because of the many water problems that came in the rooms and everywhere else.

Cruise to Nowhere by devfam

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Favorite part was the food. Worst part was that we were NOT taken to Bermuda but to Bayonne, NJ , of all places. Very disappointing. The cruise line should have cancelled this cruise prior to departing due to hurricanes, rather than take us to some awful place.

Colorful cruise by Ozarklady

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Having never cruised to Maine and Canada, we picked this cruise for the change of pace from our usual Caribbean cruises and the close proximity of the Grandeur to our home in Baltimore. It didn't disappoint us! The leaves in Maine were just about to reach their peak so we were treated with red maples, sugar maples, and the smell of pine trees everywhere in Acadia National Park and Cadillac Mountain in Bar Harbor. Our other side trips to Kennebunk, St. John, NB, and Halifax, NS were long days on a bus (6-7 hours), but we were glad we took them because everything was a first for us. Be prepared for lobster dinners everywhere and blueberry pie! The Grandeur is the Grandeur, an old ship that tries to keep pace with the times, but struggles in certain areas. The beds and pillows could be improved. In spite of this, we would recommend this cruise for everyone!

New England and Canada cruise by Keshav

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

My favorite part of the cruise was nightly entertainment in the Palladium theater and late night dance and music program in the Centrum. Andre made it more exciting. He has abundant amount of energy and enthusiasm and is able to engage everyone in the activity. He did a better job than Paul , during first two days when Paul was away.

Dinner time at Great Gatsby was a pleasant experience. Everyone attending to us (at our table ) went out of their to make it great.

Food in the Windjammer was as we had expected (like an assembly line).

There was lot of variety of Indian food on two days only but most of the preparations were made South Indian style, with same type of spices and tomato gravy. Other days, there was may be one Indian dish but made in the same South Indian style. We found out that the chef making those preparation was South Indian .We communicated our concerns to Yogesh, one of the newer employees in the Windjammer. Following day, they made couple of different style dishes which were to our liking. India has hundreds of varieties of food preparation depending on which part of India one comes from. In future, Royal Caribbean should  pay little more focus on food preferences of Indian people.

We've eaten variety of dishes (made from different parts of India) on other cruiselines.

Our experience by aparnadg44

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

We enjoyed eating in the dining room.  Food service was very good.  Food choice was good.

Food in the buffet area was also good.  However, as the buffet dining area was huge we had problems sometimes to locate our table after we leave the table to bring our food.  It would have been helpful if there were table numbers like the tables in the dining room.  Because the dining room tables had table numbers, it was easy for us to locate our table, if we had to leave our table for some reason. We did not have any problem in the dining room to locate our table because of the number.

We drink a lot of water and take a number of medications with water.  We requested the food service to bring water to our room and they were very nice and brought several glasses of water according to our request. It would have been helpful if there were a water pitcher in our room with drinking water.

However, we enjoyed the cruise very much.  The cruise employees, waiters, waitresses, every body was extremely good, polite and professional.  We felt at home and relaxed in the cruise.  Our room also was very nice.  Overall, we are very happy that we took this cruise and will recommend others to take this cruise.

5 night Bermuda cruise by becbebopp

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

We really enjoyed sailing on Grandeur.  We enjoy a smaller ship and the more specialized service.  The food was good in the MDR and the Windjammer.  Roomservice food leaves a lot to be desired.  Our ocean view,  2 port hole, stateroom was adequate for 2, but I suggest bringing extra hangers. (Rm 3510)

We're already looking forward to cruising on the Lady G again, and will book with for sure.
