We had an outstanding tinme. by sstouffe

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We love all of the entertainment options.  The Freedom of the Seas Orchestra was outstanding.  The guitarist and singer in the Pub was also remarkable.  We had wonderful service and our cabin was larger than we expected.

Excellent first-time cruise! by zandmcrisafio

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My husband and I chose to cruise for our honeymoon, as neither of us had cruised before. We are so glad we chose Royal to be our first. All of the staff was pleasant and helpful, the food was great, and there were unique adult activities each night. The adults only pool was a huge plus!

We chose the My Time dining option and ending up requesting the same waiter each night we went to the dining room because we loved him and the service so much. Our room and all public restrooms stayed clean and well maintained.

The only negatives we can think of - one of our ports was Grand Cayman where you have to take a smaller boat into port. The process was a little aggregating and time consuming, as we didn't realize we would have to wait so long. All other ports were smooth and simple for us though. The other negetive is how often and "in-your-face" they are about the sales on board. They are constantly trying to sell things in the main area of the boat. I heard that's any cruise though.

Overall great first experience!

Quick on and off of the ship at Port Canaveral. Wonderful ship and staff. Our waiters were Maruti and Anak and they took very good care of us in the dining room.

Good not great by xrdnb1969

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was my second time cruising with Royal Caribbean and while it was good service it was not even close to the service we received last time. The dining and room staff took care of what we asked for in a timely manor but we always had to ask. Overall it was a good cruise but the magic was missing. The shows and ports were amazing. Will cruise again nex year.

Excellent cruise by myerspj

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We loved the ports of call - fantastic snorkeling in Roatan and Cozumel. Lots of options for the whole family in Costa Maya and Grand Cayman too. Freedom of the Seas was big enough that there was always something to do but not so big that you were overwhelmed. Crew was very friendly and helpful. This was our favorite cruise so far!

7 Day Freedom of Seas Carribean Cruise by btoddbeckham

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This is our 4th RC cruise and the longest one to date. We paid for a balcony room that was selected by the website that offered a discount. It was at the very caboose of the ship. We could only see the water behind us and were disappointed about this. We were on Deck 6 which we could feel the vibration of the engine etc. Dine your time was mostly easy with a 30 minute wait on a couple occasions. Dining staff for supper was excellent and would rate a 10. Found a piece of hair in two of my desserts which is not surprising when serving food to 4500 people. Tour of the kitchen was amazing! Port times were limited which made the stops short on time. Wish we had more time in each port. Room staff was great and the cabin was always clean. I would recommend picking a room center of the boat as we had to walk the entire length of the ship again and again for events at opposite end. Spa rejected my SPA voucher during at Sea Day stating I was not on their list then amazingly called the next port day willing to schedule me. Movies at the pool were fun. Weather was nice. Overall, satisfied with the cruise. But, I am moving onto other travels and will book another cruise line moving forward. I am just kind of board with RC.

Just ok by gregwaldron

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I booked this cruise last minute as our original vacation plans with the kids changed.  We have only booked with Disney in the past for numerous cruises but we thought we would give it a try as Disney dates would not match with our late need and kids school beginning, Here are the highlights:

1. I thought they nickel and dime you. Example if you want anything other than lemonade, punch, or tap water to drink even with your meals you need to by a soda package which is by person by day.  Disney doesn't charge you for coffee or soda and they are free 24/7.

2. the dinner service was not that great now mind you this may have just been our server because nightly we would be at our table first and other tables would walk in 20 minutes later and their server had them eating deserts before we even had our main course... that was 1:30 minutes in. VERY bad serve.  poor assistant server did a great job keeping us with drinks and bread but her server he disappeared for long periods of time.  Service was so bad we ended up buying up to a premium restaurant fro 2 nights and eating in buffet the rest of the time,,,,,,

3.The gym was very crowded but a good size but what upset me was on day one at sea i paid for spin class no big deal but they had like 20 spin bikes taking up a ton of room in the gym and you could not use them unless it was during a paid class (they only offered the class the first and last day).  I would have gladly paid for a class each day but i am training for an upcoming Ironman and wanted to use bikes but the kicked me off them everyday.  They said "not Safe" to use the bikes that were bolted to the ground i spin and work out all over the world never heard you can't use a spin bike unless for a paid class because it is unsafe.  I watched person after person get kicked off the bikes it was kind of embarrassing.

4. the port of Roatan man is a hot mess of people badgering you every foot step you take... if you can take a tour here to avoid walking around town i would highly recommend it.

5. Rio Secreto in Cozumel was a great tour i highly recommend it was one of the positives of the trip.

6. Ship wreck Snuba in Grand Cayman was a great tour again recommend it and was a positive.

7. Casino staff very friendly but casino hours i thought were very short... craps table didn't open until 7 pm nightly even on sea days.

all in all i would say it was an ok cruise we found it to be relaxing and kids had fun but we will probably look to book Disney in the future again just to have all in pricing with much nicer ships and better overall service levels.

Freedom of the Seas - Winner! by carolynmallory

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Freedom of the Seas has amazing food and entertainment with no shortage of on-board cruise activities.  Our family loved both ports St. Thomas (Jeep/Beach Excursion was so much fun) and St. Maarten (independent Eco-Snorkeling excursion around the island was beautiful)!

As far as port of call -- CocoCay Bahamas was a disappointment as it felt like Sea Lice in the water.  This left our family running to the showers!  And as our excursion had been cancelled due to weather, that left us nothing to do on the island.

Great service! by raeream

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Service on Freedom of the Seas was fantastic. Our wait staff anticipated our needs and brought us extra food to try. The cruise director was so much fun and had an unbelievable group of entertainers ranging from singers to dancers to comedians. The only disappointing part was the adult pool section. Many kids still wander through running and yelling so it was not as pleasurable as in other ships.

Great time! by aurelia

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our trip was wonderful.  The ship was clean.  Service was exceptional.  Our AFT balcony room 8712 was wonderful.  Talk about a room with a view.  We have had balcony staterooms before, but I have to say that AFT is where it is at!  Food was very good and the service was exceptional.

Great Cruise by Travelers2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The FOS is a large ship with lots of guests, we found the ship very clean and bright. Despite the size, we found areas for quite time  .Food, variety and taste were very good, but best of all, I was really impressed with the staff on this ship. Everyone we came in contact with was friendly and cordial.

One of the best cruises we've had by tricia46400072

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We have been on a lot of cruises, and we loved this one. The ship was beautiful, clean, and in great shape. The entertainment was wonderful - including 3D movies and ice skating shows. Food was up to RC's normal high standard. Service was outstanding.

It may have been the biggest boat we've been on. I think they said the capacity was 4.300 guests, and being summer it was full. The only time it was an issue was during sea days up on the deck - there were a LOT of people up there - but generally the boat could handle it.
