A Unique Experience by rkaa2007

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I would recommend this cruise for everyone to try at least once. The Disney Dream was a cruise for mostly kids I thought. I'm not sure why single adults would book this cruise but there was plenty who did! If you are an adult, you can pay extra money for 'adult' stuff, for example, alcohol & spa. However my husband and I are very active and hoped for more 'big kid' activities. We looked forward to the playground in Castaway Cay, but seen it was for 14 year olds and under. Our children were afraid to get on it by themselves, so we were disappointed in not getting to experience that. Also, I imagined getting on the ship, and seeing characters walk around the ship multiple times a day. I was disappointed that the only time to see the characters were during their photo times at a certain area of the ship.

I thought Castaway Cay was beautiful, they should include more than one day there. The service was great. My son has food allergies, and they did everything they could to accommodate that. The dinner shows were amazing and I wish they would have had more of those throughout the day, even if they were smaller. I thought the food was either hit or miss, but either way every plate was presented beautifully.

Great time by jonsay24

Happy We just got back from our first Disney cruise on the Dream! We surprised our girls they were SUPER happy!! What a gift to give them. I really must say I was impressed with the speediness of getting on board. As per my research before getting on board I had our swimsuits with us. So once on board we went straight for the pool. It was very nice. The slide was AMAZING!! Love it so did my kids. I must say even though pool area was full it was still very nice. It was a lot to do and to choose from. The oceanneer club which my girls where apart of was GREAT! They love it! The Golden Mickey show was a must see too. Really enjoyed that too. So I def would say the entertainment on board was a A+ The dining was great too. We had some wonderful waiters, Tony and Agus were AMAZING! My husband really loved a dessert from the night before and it wasn't on the menu. However they got it for him. That is great customer service. They were very friendly, and made sure we were well taking care of. Seeing as I have food allergies they made sure my food was well taking care of. I really enjoyed our dining. I wish they had free style dining though. The set time is a little of hassle when you just want to chill and relax seeing as you have to be there during your time if not then they will miss your spot! But the lamb was amazing and the veal was to die for. So we were very pleased. Our cabin host was not so good though, he didn't do such a good job. It was our anniversary as well so I ordered the romance package and we had a bottle of wine. I asked him if I could get something to open it up he said I would have to call someone. NOw I have been a quit a few cruises this is our first Disney but I KNOW he could have gotten us something. Then he didn't even take our dishes out our room he didn't clean our bathroom either. Smh So not very happy with cabin service. But if that is the only thing that we weren't very pleased with! Now castaway Cay was AMAZING too, it is WAY bigger then you would think and the kids can just stay the whole day in the water, their is a lot to do the water is clear and blue. It was amazing

Best Vacation !!!! by GillianCameron

Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

My family had a blast on the cruise.  It was a lot of fun; we spent time doing a lot of activities on the ship.  My daughter loved the Kids Club, which was great.... when else are you going to get Cinderella to read you her story?    This was my first cruise and I it was fantastic, the serves was perfect, the food was tasty and the entertainment was good.  The staff were truly professional and a lot of fun;  you felt 'at home' to some extent.  The Disney App was helpful because it told you everything that was going on and at what time.  The parties, ie, the Sail Away, Pirates Party and  the final farewell were a lot of fun with the music and everyone enjoying themselves.   The appearance of characters was also fun for the kids and adults.  I found the wait time for the pictures with the characters went smoothly and there were no long lines.  Overall, I can not wait to do a Disney Cruise again and I highly recommend it!!!

Disney Dream - Really Was A Dream by santaloveroh

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Our trip on the Dream was perfect.  We were celebrating our 30th anniversary, travelling with another couple celebrating 25.

Embrarkation was organized and fast!  Once onboard our rooms were ready by 1:30 which I thought was amazingly early.  Luggage was to room by 4.

Our cabin 8148 was clean and beautiful.  The split bathroom was great.  It was a little tight around the bed but I believe that is to be expected.  Our cabin was aft and the first night we could feel the vibrations of the engines but after that, we never heard or felt them again.  Our cabin steward was attentive but not intrusive.

We had heard the food was good but that doesn't even begin to cover it.  It was over the top each and every night.  We did not dine in the speciality restaurants.  I have no idea why anyone would.  The main dining rooms are exquisitely beautiful and the food is the best I've had at any restaurant, land or sea.  The waiters were wonderful and follow you from restaurant to restaurant as you rotate so you always have the same waiters.

We did a snorkeling excursiion in Nassau going out on a catamaran.  It was OK but when we got there, there were two other boats so it was quite crowded.  But still fun and it was a beautiful sail out there.

Castaway Cay is not to be missed.  Absolutely stunning.  We did the stingray adventure so much fun!!!!  As we were four adults, we went over to Serenity Bay for the day.  One of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen.  The food was good and is included in the price of the cruise.  We also did the Castaway Cay 5k in the morning and they made it loads of fun!

There is lots to do on the ship as well.  We had a day at sea and were never bored for a moment.

We saw two of the four shows.  The first one the Golden Mickeys was just OK and I wouldn't see it again.  But the last show "Believe" is not to be missed.  So good, so fun!!!

And, if you like Disney characters, they are EVERYWHERE!!!  Frequent appearances every day.  Plenty of opportunities for photos.  And the princesses are out too.  The princesses are so great with the kids, talking to each one as if they were the only child there.  Amazing!

I cannot recommend the Disney Dream enough.

A Perfect Cruise! by cmbohio

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We cruised on the Disney Dream in April 2015.  Could not have asked for a better experience!  This was our second Disney cruise, but this time we had no children with us so were really able to explore and enjoy the ship.  We had perfect weather!  My comments: the food at Cabanas is wonderful.  Great selection, and in fact I enjoyed the breakfast at Cabanas much more than at the main restaurants! We ate lunch only at Cabanas so cannot provide comparison on that -- but the lunches were fabulous. I can't believe the selection that was available, and the quality was very, very good (particularly considering this is a buffet-style restaurant!).  As for dinner, we ate at each of our assigned restaurants each night and absolutely loved it.  I had seen a "Food Network" special on the Dream, and we tried some of the highlighted foods based on the input of the Food Network chefs that participated.  We were not disappointed.  The herb-crusted veal chop was delicious, and the citrus souffle with grand marnier sauce was absolutely to die for.  It came out fresh from the oven, and your server cracks it open slightly and pours in this creamy, warm sauce made with grand marnier.  The food is worthy of any fine dining restaurant on land!  Of the four in our party, no one was disappointed in any of their food selections and of course (as expected) the service was top notch.  Disney's reputation for perfection was certainly met!  As for other amenities -- we rode the Aqua Duck (twice) -- really fun and I'm glad we made a point of trying it out. We spent a significant amount of time at the adults-only pool.  Very enjoyable, although a tad bit small.  During the "day at sea" it was quite crowded.  But it truly is adults only and we enjoyed the quiet and relaxing atmosphere.  Our cabin was lovely and spotless. Our cabin "host" made sure everything was stocked, clean, and tidied up, but seemed to come and go magically (we only saw him in the hall each morning, where he greeted us with a bright "Good morning"! We intentionally did not attend any of the onboard shows -- we had done this on our last cruise, and although they were fabulous, we wanted to soak up every bit of sunshine possible (it was a long, cold winter in Ohio!).  Perhaps the one and only hiccup was the first night of the cruise -- it seems that in order to reach Nassau by the next morning, we were traveling at full speed throughout the night (this is just my guess).  This was the only night that I could hear/feel the vibration of the engines and it made for a restless night.  Other nights our room was entirely quiet.  I will research a bit and likely choose a room more towards the front of the boat to avoid this in the future (we were on Deck 8, towards the back (aft) of the boat). On another note, we enjoyed having the "Navigator" app on our phones.  The deck maps were helpful, activities and times were all readily available, and we used the "chat" feature extensively to replace our usual texting.  It was incredibly helpful for keeping tabs on each other and arranging meet-ups throughout the day.  As for excursions, we loved (I repeat -- LOVED) Serenity Bay -- the adults-only beach on Castaway Cay.  It was incredible!  Towels, chairs, loungers, umbrellas and a wonderful lunch.  Absolutely everything is provided!  We also enjoyed the stingray adventure on Castaway Cay.  Definitely worth doing if you've not experienced stingrays before. I wish we would hve been allowed to stay on the island a bit longer!  As for our Nassau visit -- we chose a snorkeling excursion and enjoyed that, although the reef where we snorkeled was quite crowded.   As mentioned above, we did have a day at sea.  Not my favorite day -- I would much rather have had another excursion.  But many seemed to love the day at sea -- I'm just a bit of a "doer" -- on the go all the time.  Overall -- we absolutely loved our time on the Dream and would highly recommend to anyone!

Disney Magic! by lisavisa2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Absolutely wonderful trip. Couldn't be better. Amazing for kids of all ages & adults. So much to do especially for the kids. Adults get quite a bit of alone time as well because there are so many great activities for the children they want to go & not stay with their parents. Disney runs a tight ship so no worries about where your kids are. They are totally supervised at every given moment. Every crew meme was a delight. They couldn't do enough for you. Take this cruise. It's amazing. Do it on an off week to save a few $$$$. It's a but pricey but worth it.

Disney Dream to the Bahamas. by lvswami

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was my first cruise, as it was for my 11 year old daughter, her Mom, and her 3 sisters and 1 brother.  We chose the 3 day itinerary in case we did not like it.  It turned out to be the wrong move, we've been back 4 days and we all wish we were still on board.  It was a superior 3 days and nights, done up in typical Disney style.  We booked Concierge Level and that is a pretty decent premium on top of the traditional  rate for a traditional cabin.  It was WELL WORTH IT.  Our cabin resembled a suite, significantly larger than most major airport hotels of any national chain and the verenda could easily fit our entire travel party with a couple more if necessary.  The queen size bed was very comfortable and the pull out sorfa got my daughter's seal of approval, she slept great each night, as I did.  The activites on board are too extensive to mention.  My daughter found "Edge", the nightclub for kids age 11-14.  She went every night after dinner and closed the joint each night at 1:00 A.M.  The food was very good and very plentiful.  The service was the best I've ever had and I made my living providing service in the casino business in Las Vegas for 42 years.  I will name the dining room servers by name and single them out for the highest praise.  Jemian, Supriana, and Kendall.  They were all over us each night.  I've never been better tended to in my life.  The guest room hostess was Sri and she was superior.  My daughter's Mom had Kevin and he went above and beyond for the entire cabin which included a 3 year old.  Our Concierge staff was beyond the best.  Danny, Ashley, and Andy were the best ambassadors of Disney Cruise Line that you could ever hope to have.  To merely say they helped us is a sad understatement.  They made everything happen that we requested and a few things we didn't request, and most of all, they were incredibly "up" for the entirety of the cruise.  I really don't know how it's possible for a group of people to genuinely smile and be full of positive energy for 14 hours a day, 7 days a week, for months at a time.  But these 3 gentlemen and really everyone else I named managed to pull off the trick.

The Disney private island, Castaway Cay was everyone's favorite destination. It is an absolute paradise in the ocean, it blew Hawaii away in every aspect, cleanliness, softness of sand, clarity of water, temperature of water, access, restroom facilities, food, service, you name it.

I would highly recommend this cruise and I would urge people to take the 4 day cruise.  For certain, the next one we take on Disney Cruise Line, it will be at least 5 days.  And we'll go on the Concierge Level again and I hope Danny, Ashley, and Andy are still there.

This was the first cruise our family had taken!  It was wonderful!  We LOVED everything about it.  Disney knows how to do it right -- from the accommodations, to the food, to the service, to the entertainment for the children -- top notch!  Yuri and Sukra were excellent dining servers.

Great cruise, if you have kids. I would not do it again, if I didn't have children or grandchildren. I ffod look and sounded fancy but I could not live on it. The ship was stpless and the rooms were great, wonderful idea have two bathrooms, one for showering and a tolet in the other. Buy a bag of popcorn an a tip is added, redicluious, same on everything you buy, no price, give them the card and be ready for a big surprise, when you leave.

It lived up to everything I had heard and much more... by KAllred72

Took my daughter for her 16th birthday and we had the greatest trip! From the moment you walk on the ship you feel catered and pampered. We stayed in a stateroom with one large porthole. It was a good size room and was very comfortable for us. The shows each night were broadway quality and activities were all really thought out and catered to every age. We absolutely LOVED our time and have already been looking to book another cruise and take the WHOLE family this time!! :)

The Disney cruise was WONDERFUL, but Cruises Only was TERRIBLE! by bwalkerconsulti

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Cruises Only never sent my Disney Package to me, as it was confirmed by Disney that it was sent 3 weeks prior to the cruise. I called Cruises Only and asked to speak with a manager three different times and they would never call me back. They also advertised that we would receive a $50 credit for on-board spending and I never received it. Luckily the Disney cruise was so great that it overcame the terrible service that I received from Cruises Only. Thanks Disney for such a fun time!!

Hooked!! by tcarr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was my very first time on a cruise and I am ready to book my next one! I have no other experience to compare this to, but I would have to say Disney knows customer service, and happiness. When I booked this vacation I went with the 3 night simply because I was uncertain what to expect, would I love it? Hate It? Well, I should have booked at least a 4 night. There just is not enough time to enjoy all that the ship has to offer on a 3 night. Although it is sold as a 3 night 4 day, it is not 4 days. We boarded the ship afternoon on Friday and had to disembark by 9:15 on Monday. If you are a first timer like me, I highly recommend a longer experience. I will be booking another cruise in the very near future! As we were getting of the ship Monday my 8 year old daughter said "can we do this again for spring break?" Needless to say she loved it!!!
