Do not sail Celebrity. 2 bad experiences witb Summit and now this cruise to board the Equinox. Customer service lies and are not helpful until after the fact when a supervisor needs to call days later and still waiting now 5 more days for a resolve!
Volleyball on the lawn and tournaments. The water volleyball against the ship crew was fun but the pool was too crowded and it really pissed me off cause we were trying to win but the rules kept changing thanks to the douche with the microphone who I think was an event coordinator. He might have been the only person I didn’t care for that was staff.
It's a party boat. Loud, lots and lots of alcohol. Deck chairs all taken by about 7:30 and people leave their stuff there all day. If you don't stake out a chair, you won't get one until 4 o'clock or so. If you're taken back by all of the noise, there are some quiter places on the back of the boat. They are also smokong areas, but the wind realy keeps the smoke away.
take advantage of the activities. The entertainment at night is great.
If one of your main activities is to sit by the pool, get there early. All the chairs were "saved" or taken by 9:00 am.
Be wary of excursion cancellations.
They seem to happen quite often.
No viable alternatives are readily available.
Do not go for cheap beach excursions. You will be packed in like sardines.
Throughout the cruise there were raffle tickets given for every $100 spent at the gift shops and expensive jewelry stores. There was no indication given what the prize or prizes might be, just the fact you had to be present on the last night of the cruise. So people were whipped into a frenzy thinking there would be great prizes, spending a lot of money to get entries. Then on the last night of the cruise the drawing was held in the most expensive jewelry store. The prize: One winner takes all prize valued at $500, worth of Celebrity logo junk. What a complete joke.
It’s still best value for the money,in that class of ship, and we’ve had over 30cruises on many lines.I find their staff to be consistently friendly and helpful, unlike some other lines. They always seem to have enough help, also unlike some other lines.
Go to the Martini bar at least one night on your cruise. It is the most "happening" place on the ship. I do not like clear liquor, but they can make a martini taste like anything you want. The bartenders are EXPERTS on this ship and will not stop trying to make you love your drink.
Be prepared to spend time replacing your set sail pass. Despite what they say, keeping the key card away from your phone and other magnetic devices does not improve the functionality. The key cards randomly deactivate and there is nothing you can do about it! At one point when I complained to a guest services attendant about it being my second key card he told my I was lucky at only 2 - some people are there 5 or 6 times!
On a positive note - get involved with the activities and talk to people! The best part of the trip was getting to know other cruisers and having fun with the activities staff.
