Review summary

While we enjoyed the cruise and the ports, I was disappointed that Celebrity Cruise Line wasn't the experience I had hoped for and expected as I was led to believe it's a class above Royal Caribbean. I most likely would choose RC over Celebrity on future cruises. However, I did like the older crowd (as we're in our late 50s) and the few children that were on the cruise were very well behaved. The evening entertainment needs to be improved for sure.

Embarkation

Very smooth and quick.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Subpar food in dining room; nothing special. Staff were pleasant. Buffet on Deck 14 was a madhouse most mornings. By the time you found a seat, your food was cold.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
There really weren't any activities other than the pools (which we knew and were perfectly fine with as we weren't traveling with children). The glass blowing area which they tout , was a waste of space -- they needed more deck chairs.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
We enjoyed the 2 comedians, but as far as the singers/dancers, they were more like a high school performances.

Children's Programs

We were not traveling with children.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Loved Captain Kate and our Room Attendant "Su". So very friendly! We didn't sit at the same dining table every night, so we were never able to establish a relationship with our servers, but each were pleasant.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship is being refurbished next month to the Edge class. While they maintained the guest areas well, the ship is in need of the updates. (there's peeling paint on balcony, worn carpets, etc that they obviously won't do because of the pending refurbishment).

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Loved the size of the cabin and our Cabin Attendant was fabulous. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of storage. We opted for the Aft Sunset Verandah and while it was spacious, it overlooked the roof of the lounge below. I may not have booked that particular type of cabin had I known that before (but that was my fault for not checking first).

Ship tip

If you're into evening entertainment, this probably isn't the ship for you.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

3 out of 5
Since this was where we boarded, we only went into Miami for some cuban food!

Key West, Florida

We enjoyed touring Hemingway's home and seeing the lighthouse and the marker at the southern most point of the US. Great margaritas everywhere!

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

We visited the Mayan ruins with the ship's excursion. Great tour. Absolutely loved what the port had to offer. Great shopping and restaurants.

Cozumel, Mexico

By far my favorite island. Great for snorkeling. Loved visiting Punta Sur. We grabbed a taxi from the port and explored the island.

George Town, Grand Cayman

Took a taxi to visit Hell (waste of time), and the turtle farm (loved holding the turtles) and ended the day at Seven Mile Beach (beautiful!!). Nice day.

Disembarkation
