Celebrity Equinox overview

By Cruiseline.com - Updated Mar. 6, 2020

Celebrity Equinox upholds Celebrity’s reputation for elegant cruising and upscale innovation with unique amenities, sophisticated entertainment, and refined dining. Travelers can relax with a picnic on a half-acre of beautifully manicured grass at The Lawn Club or savor a zodiac-inspired cocktail while enjoying views of the sea and sky in the Sky Observation Lounge. For onboard pampering, cruisers should visit Canyon Ranch Spa for stress-relieving acupuncture treatment or relax on a heated-tile lounge chair at the Persian Garden, Equinox’s aqua therapy area.

For active travelers, Celebrity’s state-of-the-art Canyon Ranch Fitness at Sea provides an opportunity for exercise with a breathtaking view through its floor-to-ceiling windows. And while the grownups take a dip in the adults-only Solarium pool or play a round of roulette at Fortunes Casino, younger cruisers can visit the ship’s kid-friendly spaces, which include X-Club, a teens-only disco, and lounge, and the Fun Factory, which offers structured activities for kids ages 3 to 11.

Whether it’s an epic musical production at the 1,115-seat Equinox Theater or live performances and dance parties at The Entertainment Court, passengers are never far from entertainment aboard Equinox. On this Solstice-class ship, cruisers can channel their inner child with a trip to the circus or attend a rock concert. For more low-key entertainment, many of the ship's bars host live music that passengers can enjoy while sipping a cocktail.

Equinox received a host of updates through the Celebrity Revolution program in June 2019. The renovation added redesigned accommodations, updated restaurants, new designer boutiques, and several additional sanctuaries for suite-class guests. Celebrity is also partnering with American Ballet Theatre to enhance the onboard entertainment offerings.

Setting sail from the Fort Lauderdale cruise port, Celebrity Equinox itineraries include destinations throughout the Caribbean, with trips ranging from 2 to 12 nights. While Caribbean cruise itineraries vary, ports of call may include Barbados, Antigua, Saint Lucia, and Grenada. Other destinations include Mexico, the Bahamas, Aruba, New Orleans, and Key West.

Why sail on Celebrity Equinox: Equinox should appeal to cruisers looking for an upscale cruise vacation filled with entertainment and pampering (without the high fares of a luxury line). With a full-service spa, elegant dining, and a variety of world-class shows, this is the ship for travelers seeking a laid-back yet sophisticated vacation at sea.

You should know: While Equinox does have kid-friendly areas and activities, young families and cruisers seeking an active, adventurous vacation with onboard rock-climbing walls and water slides are better off sailing on Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, or Carnival.

Good and bad by marinarosenfiel

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox

All Cruises have its good and bad points. Not sure we would do it again, except maybe taking excursions through another company other than through Celebrity, who use better buses with more leg room on these long excursions. Sitting on bus for 3 to 6 hours with knees hitting the seat in front of me was torture, I am 5 ft 7

3rd time Equinox, 1st time Mediterranean by 1Beachsidebob

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox

We love the Equinox, this was our 3rd time sailing on her and our 29th cruise overall, but the ship atmosphere was a little dead this time around and the shows and especially the music were not what they have been in the past. We attributed that to being in the Med vs. the Caribbean, and perhaps having a new person in charge of entertainment? Don't remember if the cruise director was new this time around. The area around the Sunset Bar that was recently upgraded is a great change!!! Weather certainly dampened a couple of our days, but overall it was a good time.

It's huge, easy to get lost the first day or two, but the staff are very helpful. The best coffee is made by Alexander on deck 5. Best drinks are at the Mast Bar on deck 14 Nehemia Best shopping is on the last day, great sales. there is always something to do on this ship

if you go with a family or a group, get balcony staterooms and have the attendant unlock the barriers. It's like a connecting room but better!
