Review summary

All Cruises have its good and bad points. Not sure we would do it again, except maybe taking excursions through another company other than through Celebrity, who use better buses with more leg room on these long excursions. Sitting on bus for 3 to 6 hours with knees hitting the seat in front of me was torture, I am 5 ft 7

Embarkation

2 out of 5
Had to stand long wait outside of terminal, not sure what delay was about.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was very good, especially the afternoon lunch buffet. Unfortunately the main dinning room, staff was slow and food quantities and choices were limited. Drink package was well worth it and service in the lounges was decent.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Had 1 disappointing , we waited til dinner time to have hot tub all to ourselves in the solarium where there were 2 tubs, soon as I got in was asked to exit due to maintenance cleaning.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Great Performers and shows

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Except for extremely slow service at main dinning room, which we decided was not worth a 2 hour wait to have dinner. We went to buffet instead. Service and room steward was good as well as other ship personnel.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Ship was kept very clean

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin was kept very clean thanks to our room steward. Size of cabin and balcony was comfortable , shower stall small

Ship tip

All in all it was a great ship with good food, except for main dinning room service

Ports of call

Barcelona, Spain

Had a 3 day visit prior to cruise, highly recommend hop on off bus to get around. We booked all of this thru Viator on our own.

Valencia, Spain Did not visit port

Due to flooding was redirected to Palma de Mayorca

Malaga, Spain

No excursion, We Did this on our own, unfortunately it was a Sunday and it was very crowded with tourist and locals. We did like Malaga

Gibraltar (U.K.)

3 out of 5
Liked the port, however our excursion guide although he was knowledgeable but we could not hear him well, he did not use ear phone technology. Don’t recommend this if you have mobility issues, very steep terrain and not many guardrails while climbing rock stairs. Monkeys were not aggressive. Great views

Cagliari, Sardinia

5 out of 5
We did enjoy this excursion and guide was excellent, beautiful views. Good pace for middle aged peeps.

Naples, Italy

We did Pompeii excursion, we could clearly hear the guide, however we could not understand her accent was very heavy and would add an H to words that started with an A, ie; Hair vs air. She was very fast paced and terrains/ruins were extremely difficult to walk on with no guard rails. 2 hours solid walking on rocks with maybe one 10 min break is a lot to expect from middle aged people. Guide was heartless and shaming us to keep up. Her name was Rafaela. Ruins were great but unable to enjoy at this pace we were on and no bathroom breaks for 2 hours

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

3 out of 5
Good excursion, however bus was extremely uncomfortable designed for children, everyone on bus complained about it. Would not do excursion through celebrity again unless they correct this bus situation.

La Spezia, Italy

3 out of 5
Again good excursion except uncomfortable bus, no leg room.

Marseille (Provence), France

No excursion, we did this on our own. Took $10.00 trolly train ride to church on the hill. Well worth it.

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
Better than embarkation but we were not well informed by the staff. Needed better direction
