wonderful, could be more smkids friendly by RuthG2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Mexico

first, i would like to comment Ron from housekeeping as someone that brightened our day, every day, all day. Housekeeping as immaculate. second, the buffet food is amazing. the only problem is that there are many options for adults but nothing really for kids. the kids have their camp, but if i wanted to be with my kids all day, i didn't have even 1 room that i could go to and be only kids, with kids play. i could drop them at camp all day, and the camp was amazing and my kids loved it, but went to it 4 times only for 2 hrs each. all rest was up to me to entertain. the result was that they played a lot at the glass elevators. the family friendly comedy shows were wonderful for adults, but definitely not for little kids. little kids just don't really understand the humor. in addition, the music on the lido deck was too loud. it should be enjoyable to listen but still be able to make some kind of conversation without shouting loud or moving somewhere else.

Had great time on Splendor! by FowzyS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Mexico

In general all was as I expected it to be; clean rooms, plenty of food, and plenty of options. Here are somethings I wish were different; - They really need to make these ships smoke free. We took long detours around the hallways to avoid the lobby and casino areas and unfortunately we weren't always successful. They made the youth and children meeting clubs right there by the casino. It was inescapable. - I think Carnival borders on not being kids appropriate; from saucy Maitre D's and cruise director comments to adult pool contests, to Vegas like shows. - My kids hated the salt water pools, and the lack of good kids or youth programs. Other cruiseliners were great on bringing kids together for long lasting penmanship, but not in Carnival. My daughter stopped going to O2 club as she often found it empty.

Carnival Spendor not so Splendid by AltheaS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Mexico

I would never cruise again on Carnival again. The food was always cold, and never enough. One day I stood in line for 1 hour and never moved in the food line because of all the people cutting in line. Kids were allowed to play on the elevators until two went out of service. There were 3600 guests plus 1600 staff I use the word guest loosly. The entertainment was all set up for children the shows were magic shows or folk dancing not so good. The spendor auditorium was not so splendid. I have traveled on cruise ships before but never this bad. I do have to say the embarkement and disembarkement went the best it has ever gone before.

Maybe our last cruise by MarshallO

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Mexico

Got an email from Jeffrey Sherota. It offered up to 200 credit on this cruise if we booked another cruise while on this one. The e-mail gave us 5 years to take this next cruise. We when down and signed up the woman there said they would honor this email. But they only have a 2 year delay. The took our 100 and she said would get a letter in our stateroom later. Which we did. But it only offer 2 years delay. Went back to the desk and was told they would not honor this email. That pissed both of us off. We will never cruise with that cruise line again. We are also telling our family and freinds what went down with this email.

Relaxing vacation! by RichH4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Mexico

The ship was very smooth. I have taken this cruise twice before (on the Jubilee and the Carnival Pride) and I recall the return to Long Beach being a rocky ride. This ship never felt unstable. Also, the ship was very large and roomy so that it didn't feel too crowded.

Susan's Birthday Gift Cruise by MikeW15

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Mexico

The ship is an engineering marvel. I took the behind the fun tour and enjoyed that very much. I wish it was longer. I would have enjoyed more time in the engine control room as I am an engineer myself. The Splendor is a huge ship. Very impressive!

It was a long dreary cold trip back :-(. The food was good and the in room service was exceptional. Music was awful at best no matter where u were on the ship! Drinks were fair price - I was pleasantly surprised! Wld b better if u cld stay a little later in the ports to explore a lil of the nite time on shore!

Great cruise by ChristineS2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Mexico

The ship - Carnival's Splendor - was just the right size - large enough to have a variety of venues and activities - small enough to not get lost, and to learn my way around in just a couple of days. In terms of the activities, there was something for everyone, with just enough 'down time' built in to not get overwhelmed.

We had a great time!! Very kind people who worked on the ship!! The Spa was to be desired with there "come buy from us" attitude. They don't mention how rude they are if they are unable to get you to buy from them. It's more of a sales pitch than anything

Splendor=Crowded. Done with Carnival? by SusanC25

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Mexico

As a platinum guest, I did not feel special other than boarding. Platinum guests should have priority boarding at ports-not just getting off which by the way, no one tells you how to get off at ports... I found this Carnival cruise to have the least appetizing food for dinner. The tastes were bland and the selections were boring, and almost the same as the other Carnival cruises. Even the Grand Marnier Souffle was tasteless-no orange or sweet taste at all. The Escargot barely tasted of garlic. The ship's layout is designer poorly when trying to get to and from the dining room as the third and 4th floor do not go thru and you must go up or down to get anywhere.
