World Class Service by CraigB3

Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This cruise was one of the best ever. The ship, service and ports of call made it a sailing paradise. I wish there had been a few more activities on board the ship, but since my wife and I were there to relax, it was still ok to just watch the ocean roll by. I would definitely take this exact same cruise again. Grand Cayman was my least favorite port. The rest were pure paradise.

EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS BY FAR!! by AymieK

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This cruise was our first but after reading eveyone's reviews we kind of knew what to expect. However, we didn't think we would have been treated so well. We originally booked an interior room and later found out that the prices had dropped so when we called to ask for a reimbursement they automatically upgraded us from an interior to a balcony room with a partially obstructed view. The partial obstruction was a lifeboat that you could see underneath us, but in all honesty, the obstruction was no obstruction to us at all. We still enjoyed a view of the ocean, as well as each of the ports. A balcony is definately the way to go! From now on, we will only book a balcony room, obstruction or not because it was a great luxury being able to get some fresh air in the privacy of our stateroom. I know a lot of people say you are only in your room to sleep and shower but we were in our stateroom a lot more than we expected. It's nice to have the opportunity for an afternoon nap and such. The ship itself was stunning. Very beautiful and laid out nicely. The food was outstanding. We tried everything, the 24 hour pizzeria, the lido grill, the buffet, the dining room and the sandwich counter. It was all delicious. My boyfriend enjoyed the Lido food better but I liked the food in the dining room better. Our waiter, Clive, was outstanding. He addressed us by name every night and even got my very shy and reserved boyfriend to do the Macarena and YMCA after dinner! He was a highlight in our trip. Our room steward was average, though our room was clean and there were always fresh towels and cute towel animals every night. Our favorite bartender was Akvile, she was in the main lobby. She recommended our new favorite drink, BBC. Ask her to make it and you will be hooked. We only did two excursions, one in Grand Cayman and one in Honduras. The tour we took in Grand Cayman was called the "stingray, hell and turtle farm experience." Well worth the $75 PP. Do the stingrays even if you're scared, you won't regret it. Take an underwater camera with you and try and take alot of pictures on your own as the ones they sell are pricey. The other excursion we did was the "Tabyana Beach Day". It's around $35 PP and is WELL WORTH IT. We had a BLAST and the beach is like paradise. There is a bar, restaurant, gift shop and restrooms and you can rent snokel gear for $10 for the whole day. You can also rent kayaks for $15 an hour. We took the most pictures in Honduras, it's absolutely breathtaking. We were going to go through cave-tubing.com as many people have recommended for Belize but when we met up with the guys from the company and got in their van, we got a weird feeling in the pit of our stomach. We had stopped at a gas station and just the whole vibe wasn't quite right. So we didn't end up doing it, though we did meet someone later on the ship that went through the company and had a blast, so maybe it just all depends on what kind of driver you get. A lot of people booked though Carnival and I heard a lot of good things about the Carnival Cave tubing. If you don't book an excursion in Belize, there is not much to do. We did a little shopping for about an hour and after that we took advantage of the almost empty pool. Cozumel we did some shopping. We took a walk through the touristy part and as we were departing the ship we heard an employee recommend Pancho's Backyard. He had told us it was 10 times better than Senor Frog's and well worth the 4 block walk. He told us they had the best Margaritas. They keep you going all day!! The entertainment was great and our cruise director, Jen, was so energetic! We can't wait for our next cruise!!!

peaceful and relaxing by TammyB

Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We went as a family. My husband and two sons 18 & 19. It was wonderful for all of us. The boys could do what they wanted, but still had dinner with us each night to catch up on what had happened all day. I went to the spa and had a massage and facial, great way to start the cruise off. We had two balcony rooms next to each other. Plenty of room for all of us. We spent alot of time just sitting on the balcony watching the water or as we came into ports. I would recommend a balcony to everyone. Food was excellent. It was great to try things that I wouldn't normally have cooked at home. Room service also very prompt and polite.

Excellent! Great for all ages! by DebM7

It was clean, plenty of food no matter what time of day it was. The embarkation and disembarking was smooth considering there were 2000 people. Very well organized.

Better than expected... by JohnB65

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Legend is another typical Carnival ship. Everything is in its usual place. Everything is of its usual good quality. The decor is not what I would call even good, but then who goes on a cruise based on the wallpaper in the lobby?? The rooms were clean the public spaces friendly and inviting. Some of the bar areas were befuddling (why would anyone think a bar made of wood bench seating was a good idea??) But over all it is what you expect on an above average cruise line.

A Great Experience by TimA3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our first Carnival Cruise and we were pleasantly surprised, having heard negative things about this cruise line. The ship was beautiful, although a little gawdy, but was very comparable in service and amenities to the other cruise lines we have been on. The food however was not as good as we have had on other ships. The buffets were just fine, but the main dining room was a bit disappointing- most of the beef dishes were tough.

Great Experience by Markw11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Very nice ship in great condition. We booked on short notice and wanted a suite. The counselor from Alaska advised we should not select a suite and take the cheaper "guaranteed suite" option. We saved a few hundred dollars and ended up getting upgraded to a penthouse suite! It was quite a treat. Staff overall was wonderful. Prompt, nice, very helpful. Food was very good. Definately eat more meals in the dining room than the buffet upstairs. Buffet was not bad, but often very crowded and kinda crazy. Breakfast and lunch in the dining room were quick and much better. Our only minor recommendation is that the shore excursions could be better organized. We did one in each port. Each time we met in a lounge before leaving and the staff there did not brief us at all on the events (how we get off, where we go, when we would be back, etc.). Everyone just ended up going like a heard. In the end it was O.K., but many people mentioned they would expect Carnival (since it was there excursion) to give some type of quick briefing while people waited. Minor issue on an otherwise wonderful experience. Shore excursions were all worth it.

" a great, relaxing cruise." by DA2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Recently on the Legend and it was wonderful. The Ship was very clean and the staff always working hard to make sure that the guest just relax and have a wonderful time. I would like to see a bit more luxury in the staterooms...we had a balcony and I thought the colors were rather blah in relationship with the rest of the ship, which was done with great elegance and confort. The entertainment on the ship was also very well done and enjoyable for all ages.

Terrific Cruise by Jil

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

As a first time cruiser, I was very impressed. The ship just shines. The food is absolutely delicious and of course plentiful. Great activities, the shows seem a little late, I would think a 7:30 show once in awhile wouldn't hurt. I was very glad a packed some dramamine, because this ship does rock quite a bit, by the third day I no longer needed the dramamine. There was none available to you on the ship, it would be good to forwarn passengers of this. There are 3 pools and 4 hot tubs, so you can always find a spot to splash. The tea time with classical music was most awesome. This was a terrific experience and I would definitely enjoy cruising with Carnival on the Legend again, & again & again.

A Fabulous Experience!! by LindaR17

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was beautiful. This was our first cruise and we just couldn't believe how large this floating hotel was. We were so impressed that the fitness area was so large, that there was high speed internet and that we could watch some of our favorite cable stations via satelite. We were also very impressed with how clean the ship was. The crew took painstaking efforts to make sure that the ship was spotless all the time.

A "Fun Ship" For Real by GerriS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Everything was wonderful. Our room, 4138, had the open window, obstructed view, but at night, we opened the window and listened to the ocean as we fell asleep. It was very romantic. We really liked having a sofa in the room. Dining was great, service was good, but they seemed to be a little under staffed and they had to work really hard to serve everyone, we had great service thanks to William. The rooms were exceptionally clean, everytime we went out and came back, it seemed as if the cleaning fairy had dropped by. Overall, the cruise, ship, staff was GREAT. We are looking forward to our next cruise.

Excellent Carnival Legend Cruise by RobertB7

The ship ran flawlessly. A wonderful 7 night cruise. The crew and expecially the waiters and waitresses were awsome. Carnival recognizes folks that have sailed more then once with them.

An enjoyable cruise by OllyK

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

in general a very nice cruise even that we missed two days of the cruise because we missed our connecting flight and the ship in tampa. personal was always very friendly and attentive in the restaurant. the cabin was in a great condition and the stewart kept it that way. cabin was done twice a day. we enjoyed the meals in the truffel restaurant very much. a very good selection and a very good presentation of the food. also the unicorn restaurant had some good food, but this was more the fastfood type. the saladbar was superb!!! the best selection we have seen so far in the usa. and always a good choise of fruits and healthy food. the evening entertainment was ok but nothing spectacular or special. the fitnessroom/area was well equipped. the midnight buffet looked absolutly super, but unfortunately having eaten late, 8:15 we were still full so we just had a look at it, which was a little pitty. we would have liked to have this kind of buffet as the normal dinner. in general we had a nice and good relaxing time on board. by looking at our cons you see there was not a lot to complain about. we would like to see sodas as free softdrinks. two or three would be already good enough and one should be a diet drink.

What Has Happened to Service? by GrahamP

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We enjoyed the ship and the overall cruise but found Carnival significantly unresponsive to cabin problems. The dial on the thermostat in our cabin was broken. After a day and a half of calling for repairs (including one call where the receptiomist complained because I had called five times) a maintenance man showed up and it took about 2 minutes to install a working dial. Our cabin was located next to a service locker for the stewards in that section. Evidently the door to the service entrance had some type of automatic closer that caused the door to slam shut so hard that our cabin seemed to vibrate. Not so bad until we realized the first morning that the service personnel started banging that door at 5:30 a.m. We asked for help many times, but never had a peaceful morning all week. Especially hard on us because it was a handicapped equipped cabin and I have MS. Maybe our last cruise with Carnival

Nice, but not sure it's right for me. by CoytD

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was clean and well run. The formal dinning each night was crazy-good and the people who did the serving were wonderful. The buffets were good ... but got old after a couple of days. If you like to drink and tour a small variety of bars, then a cruise is likely good for you. My wife and I don't drink booze and don't really dance ... so we got bored. The first couple of days of forced rest was good, but after we got rested we got bored and seemed to just move from buffet to buffet. (That's what most Americans need ... more buffets.) I did enjoy the shows and all the little tours of the ship. The stops were OK ... but short. You have time to get off of the ship and do ONE thing ... then you have to get back to the ship and move on. That may be OK for some, but I loke to explore more and I try to get away from the beaten path and/or the tourist traps ... but that is impossible with the few hours given at each port. If you want a small tast of these places and a party boat ... cruises may be for you. I'm pretty sure this is our first and last cruise. God bless
