A memorable cruise by RichardH12

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

The ship was fine and the staff was courteous and helpful. Our waitress and assistant waiter were out of this world. I thought there wasn't enough variety in the Chic dining room. There were a few changes but not many.

WISH I WERE THERE! by LareeB

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We sailed on the Freedom-- the last cruise before sailing to the Med Sea. It is a beautiful ship, the shows were wonderful! At all costs however avoid leaving out of Miami. The Carnival staff there is for the most part rude and they are never wrong. YOU are! AND that was the most unorganized crew we've seen. We were told we would board at 11:30 and more than an hour went by before we were allowed to board. When asked why Carnival staff did not know and gave several answers. Again they were very rude! The port workers are uninformed. Back to the ship---any cruise that includes Half Moon Cay or Grand Turk is already a great cruise, and this one did. San Juan was wonderful too! St Thomas a disappointment.

Average cruise by JennyB

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our 5th cruise, but definately not our favorite. The outside decks were VERY crouded with limited space to walk. We were not impressed with the food selections. The formal dining was very enjoyable but the food selections seemed limited. The buffet lines were very slow and long. Additionally, on days when the ship was docked, room service was very limited (i.e. ham sandwich or BLD) and passengers at the buffet lines were very impatient due to the limited choices and limited quantity.

Exceeded expectations! by MelissaD7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I have been on man cruises on varying cruise lines. This was my third time sailing with Carnival, and I have to say it was the best! The ship's newness was very apparent. The design, layout, cabin size, activities, etc. were excellent! For only having an interior cabin, it felt spacious in comparison to others I've stayed in in the past. I especially enjoyed Scott's Piano Bar (a very fun place!), Habana Cigar Lounge (relaxed atmosphere), and the casino. The food was excellent! The service was amazing! Our dinner waiters and cabin steward were extremely friendly and were consistently superb. The ports (Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten) were a blast! Being a younger couple with no children, we were at times annoyed with the kids on the ship. Being a Spring Break holiday week, there were quite a few - but, we expected it choosing Carnival. The only time it was an issue was by the pool. If you want to escape this as well, we found some more quiet areas to layout and enjoy the sun on the upper decks (Decks 13 and 14). Overall, it was an amazing trip! I have already recommended it to friends and family and will definitely be cruising again soon!

Carnival Cruise Line is Terrible!!! by KellyR1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We booked everything through , even our airfare, but our flight got cancelled and nobody would help us. Even though Carnival's flight department chose our flight, they were no help. They told us we either catch up with the ship at our first port of call or too bad. would do nothing and neither would US Airways. We incurred over $500 trying to catch up with the ship because the flight they booked us on got cancelled. Once we got on the ship the service was terrible. This vacation and how we were treated after the fact was terrible. Go Royal Carribean. They take care of their customers!!

A Cruise for Rest and Relaxation by CynthiaB2

Sail date: / Traveled as:
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Carnival Freedom is one of their "Conquest" fleet. It is large but comfortable for the more than 3000 guests on board. The crew were in constant mode of keeping up with cleanliness, meeting our requests within reason. The suite we had more storage space than I have ever seen on my previous cruises. The beds were so comfortable that I actually slept in past 11am one day. That is what I call a real vacation.

The cruise was great!! by AmyW4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I loved the ship it was great! There was always something to do. You could get pizza any time of the day and night. Room service was great too! The dining room for dinner was the best! We had a great team waiting on us and the entertainment they gave us every night was great! The shows were also great! There was one on the Beatles (which is one of my favorites), and the next night was Mo-Town which I really enjoyed because I am from Michigan. The last night was a million dollar production.

I really liked all aspects of the ship. The lay out can handle all 3500 passengers and quiet places can be found as well as the party places. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

Best Vacation Ever! by BevR

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We took our first cruise on 1/5/08 on Carnival Freedom. Our family of five had two adjoining rooms and we were amazed at how nice they were. The staff was great, the ship itself was fabulous and so clean! There was always staff cleaning - even at 3 a.m........We couldn't believe how fantastic the food was and our server "Jan" was the absolute best.....we said we would come back just because he was so great. Weather was fantastic, entertainment terrific and I even won at the casino. Thanks for making this such a great experience. We can't wait for our next cruise, just sorry it took us so long to try one.

Freedom & Relaxation at Sea! by BethP1

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

01/08/2008 We recently returned from a relaxing cruise on Carnival's newest ship, Freedom of the Seas. If you're looking for good value for your money and several days of relaxation at sea.. then this is your ship. The 7 day cruise is in Port for 2.5 days and at sea the remainder of the time. We highly recommend you book excursions and dinner at the upgrade SunKing Restaurant prior to the cruise. We didn't do this and as a result, we didn't get the excursions we wanted or an opportunity to dine in SunKing. We recommend staying in a balcony stateroom if you want to quietly relax without a crowd. With so much to do on board, you can choose to be as busy or as relaxed as you want! Enjoy your cruise and the Freedom to choose!

A Wonderful Cruise by NanditaM

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We recently sailed on the Freedom and had a wonderful time. Sure there are areas for improvement, but overall everything was worth it! The restaurants are good, but if you are looking for really tasty desserts, you may not be that happy with what is offered - I found there to be way too many diet cakes that were tasteless. In terms of entertainment - the shows provided were great for all ages. Pools were well maintained, however the kiddie pool is really tiny and there are no other playscape areas for kids to play (except for Camp Carnival, but parents cannot join their children there). The staff are quite helpful (especially the housekeeping staff) and can assist you when needed. In terms of travling with a toddler: Be ware that the ship does not provide whole milk - this was a HUGE problem for us as our toddler only drinks whole milk, and to suddenly make her drink 2% milk, it really affected her. The Sushi Bar is excellent and is a must! Getting on and off the ship is really easy and they did a wonderful job managing this process.

Very Disorganized by NichelleN

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Staff was not friendly except for cabin steward. Buffet food was not good and very limited selections especially for children. Was forced to eat in Dining area since casual dining was very disorganized and food was NOT good. Camp Carnival staff was not friendly, used movies as babysitting all night, did not know and/or follow the activity schedule. Sent my child to our cabin while we were off-shore at night in San Juan when I specifically said we would be off-shore and he would be staying past 10pm! Staff did not show up for numerous scheduled activities ie bean bag toss, water wars etc. Carnival Shows were very loud and screaming singers. Comedian was very funny and Motown Singer was great, but would not recommend the other entertainment.

Another wonderful cruise by ElmoreW

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This is our 9th cruise with Carnival and this was a new expierence for us on the Freedom. The ship was clean and we took advantage of all the shows on this cruise and loved all three of them. The laundry room was accessable and didn't have to wait. There was an addition of a stir fry at the buffet which I enjoyed but evidently others did to as there seemed to be a line here most of the time. This time we had a person in a wheel chair and the ship appeared to be very accessible to this, we were even able to go ashore using the boat tenders.
