Review summary

We recently sailed on the Freedom and had a wonderful time. Sure there are areas for improvement, but overall everything was worth it! The restaurants are good, but if you are looking for really tasty desserts, you may not be that happy with what is offered - I found there to be way too many diet cakes that were tasteless. In terms of entertainment - the shows provided were great for all ages. Pools were well maintained, however the kiddie pool is really tiny and there are no other playscape areas for kids to play (except for Camp Carnival, but parents cannot join their children there). The staff are quite helpful (especially the housekeeping staff) and can assist you when needed. In terms of travling with a toddler: Be ware that the ship does not provide whole milk - this was a HUGE problem for us as our toddler only drinks whole milk, and to suddenly make her drink 2% milk, it really affected her. The Sushi Bar is excellent and is a must! Getting on and off the ship is really easy and they did a wonderful job managing this process.

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

My one comment about this port of call is that we stayed WAY TOO LONG in cozumel. You do not need to stay for 14 hours docked at this port. We went to the Playa Mia Beach Resort (originially we were booked at El Cid, but this was a terrible location and there is no real beach here) where the lunch included was not that good and after the beach there was not much that most people wanted to do. I would have much rather stayed longer in Grand Cayman or Ocho Rios. The Playa Mia Beach Resort is a good option for beach activities.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Dunns River Falls is great, but dont bother with Dolphin Cove - the beach area is really rocky and small. The Taj Mahal shopping complex is really good as you will get good prices on things like Blue Mountain Coffee and Rum Cake.

George Town, Grand Cayman

We went to 7 mile beach and this was BEAUTIFUL. The sand is not rocky and there is tons of room for lounge chairs and umbrellas etc. This is A MUST SEE. Also, Grand Cayman has the BEST shopping - if you are looking for watches - you will get the best price on this island in comparison to Ocho Rios. Keep that in mind since you will go to Grand Cayman prior to Jamaica :)

Pros: I appreciated the friendliness of the staff and how simple the embarkation process was handled. I also loved having music in the lobby and the night shows were terrific!

Cons: The desserts lacked taste and there was only one tiny kiddie pool and no play scape area
