I really thought that this ship is loved by the workers. I enjoyed all of the friendships that the staff seemed to have and helping one another out.

First (but not last!) Cruise by RonR12

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The food was excellent and always readily available. Most importantly, the staff (particularly the stateroom and restaurant staff) were friendly, always smiling, and courteous. They quickly learned our preferences, likes and dislikes, and made the cruise very special.

A Great Time :) by LynnC11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We were given a "handicap" cabin. Though we are not handicapped, I was using the shower stool and it collapsed with me landing on the floor. The information desk was trying to tell me that this is a "temporary" stool. However plaster literally came out of the wall. NO ONE asked if I was ok intil I asked if they wondered if I was ok. This was our 5th cruise in the past 7 years with Carnival. I really thought I should have been treated better and at the very least been given some on board credit.

An average cruise by DennisW6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Smoking bar right next to main dining room entrance. Ship rolled constantly the first two days. We were not better informed of weather conditions at Grand Turk....rainy and cold...and had been that way for almost ten straight days

Rocky but fun by AmyB4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

The ship was smaller than the last ship that I was on, but the rooms were bigger. Not a lot to do on the boat. Very small shopping area. Everyone was married, a couple, or a child. Not a good cruise for single people.

A great vacation at a reasonable price by TinaW3

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We just returned from a 4 night Bahamas cruise on the Carnival Elation. We chose this cruise based on price more than destination. I was pleasantly surprised with the Elation. The ship was very comfortable and the service was impeccable. Our cabin steward was wonderful. We never had to ask for anything twice and he was very prompt with every request. The dining experience was pleasant. The food was good and plentiful. There was a nice variety of dinner selections. The seafood was wonderful however; I was a little disappointed in the beef entres. They also offered pork and lamb. The service was excellent. Our waitress was so sweet. She made everyone feel special. She remembered something about each of us and hugged us every night before we left the dining room. Carnival truly lives up to its reputation as the "fun ship". There were plenty of activities for all ages and we participated in as many as possible. There is so much to do on the ship that we really could have used an extra day or two in order to experience it all. The one disappointment was the cabaret show. Although, the performers were good, the production was cheesy and somewhat boring. As for the destination, I have traveled to the Bahamas previously. It isn't my favorite destination but the beaches are beautiful and the shopping is great. Since we were traveling on a budget we didn't participate in the shore excursions however I recommend it since it's the most convenient way to enjoy the islands. There isnt much to do in Freeport but some of our group went out to Lucaya Beach and loved it. A word to the wise, make your purchases in Freeport because we found the shopping to be more expensive in Nassau. I paid $10 for a wicker bag that I could have purchased for $6 in Freeport. We wanted to see the Atlantis resort and decided to venture out on our on, taking a cab instead of the excursion tour. That was a big mistake. We knew there was a fee to get into the aquarium but there are additional fees to gain access to the pool and beach areas. You cant get past the lobby areas unless you pay the fees. The cruise lines have contracts with the resorts so its best to do the tour which gives you a glimpse of everything. We hired a taxi driver in Nassau who was very accommodating. He took us on a short tour of the city. He was very knowledgeable and provided some history and even drove us by some celebrity homes. We were pleasantly surprised with the hospitality of the Bahamian people as well. There are only two negative experiences I can speak of: 1. The first night of the cruise we hit rough seas and many passengers were seasick. The captain was very apologetic but said it was unavoidable. The crew was passing out motion sickness meds for anyone who asked which was very much appreciated. However, next time I cruise I will start taking medication before I leave the port. Other than the first night we had smooth sailing. 2. We were traveling in a group of 8 people, 2 of which were late additions to our group therefore booked separately. Their dinner table assignment was at a different time and even in another dining room. We asked to have them join our table and were treated quite rudely by matre d. He was not accommodating at all telling us he didnt have an extra table that would seat 8 people. After some persistence they found a table for us by the second night and we were told by the wait staff that the table was empty the night before. Needless to say the matre d did not receive the expected gratuity! I would definitely recommend this cruise. We had a great time and you cant beat the price. We actually got a 5 category upgrade by booking through . We upgraded to an outside ocean view cabin for the price of an inside cabin. I will definitely use when I book my next cruise.

Great cruise for the price!!! by MargA32610075

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The ship needed to be cleaned up a bit.. railings were stickey.. pieces of the decor had been ripped off and needed to be replaced. It was spring break and they needed to keep more order with the drunken young people while there where children on the ship.. they were swearing and going around with pants falling off, etc. This was my 9th cruise and my third aboard Carnival. They have come a long way since my cruise 15 yrs ago, when I swore I would never board another Carnival vessal. I was very pleased with the food and how they have brought their act up so there weren't any wet tee shirt contests or beer chug-a-lugs.. more family orientated amd enough crew to feel pampered!

"Couldn't Ask for More" by MaryH69860900

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

My husband and I took our moms on this cruise for their 80th birthdays. It was the best thing that ever happened to these great women. The food and service at our dinner table was superb. The waiters took extra time to entertain our moms and had them laughing all night. Afterward we went to the shows which were very good and they enjoyed fully. The staff were very helpful in assisting them around the ship as the first night was rather rocky and you really needed to have your "ship legs" on . It was really a great cruise and we thank the ALL the staff of the Elation for making our moms 80th birthdays so wonderful.

It was my first cruise, so I have nothing to compare it to, I would like to try a larger ship next time. I thought the Elation was a good ship, my wife and I had a great time.

Enjoyed our First Cruise by ScottM9

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We just completed our first cruise. We sailed on the Elation during a 4 night cruise to the Bahamas. We had a good time. The food in the main dining room was excellent, and the service was outstanding. I was very impressed with the service in the dining room and the staterooms. The day at sea was a little disappointing. There seemed to be very little going on during the times I wanted to do things. What was happening was of no interest to me (harry chest competition and belly flop competitions). It was also difficult to find a chair on deck during the day at sea. The shows were entertaining, but good seats were hard to come by in the main show lounge. All in all, we had a good time and would do it again. This was a great first cruise!

"A Vacation Cruise To Remember" by NoreenA1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We sailed on Carnival Elation in March 2007 and thought the ship was beautiful and well maintained throughout. Our stateroom was spotless. We would leave to go to breakfast and come back 1/2 hour later and the room was already clean and the bed made. We are not big eaters and felt that there was too much food. Breakfast was not anything special during the five days on the ship. We enjoyed going to the dining room for dinner, but liked the variety at the buffet in the grill area. Did not stay long enough at Nassau. Turks and the private island were not that exciting. The activity director did a good job of keeping everyone entertained with different activities. We fell asleep during the stage show. The Hypnotist show was fun. We had a great time and met alot of nice people.

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We had a great cruise on the Elation this past March. The crew was very friendly and helpful. We particularly like the level of entertainment. It was so professional and well done! Our room was very clean and the food was wonderful. Our family loved the staff in the dining room as well as the staff who cleaned our cabin. The best vacations are made by the quality of people you meet!

Great time by ChadL

Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Being a mid 20 something, I had mixed emotions about taking a cruise based off of what I had heard in the past. I totally recommend Carnival Cruise lines for people my age. There is always something to do and the cleanliness could not be beat.

A Great Time! by LaurenE

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was the first cruise that I have been on, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The layout of the ship was very nice - walking in you are in a 7 foot tall entry way with a bar and information desk. The ship was extremely clean, and the staff was friendly. Dinner was by far my favorite part of the day, because you are allowed to pick as many entrees and dishes as you want, and it is a production that takes about 2 hours a night. The waiters at our table went above and beyond my expectations. Entertainment on the ship was good. At night we went to a few comedians (one of whom was very funny, the other who was not) and a kareoke bar. There was also a dance club, but as I am sensitive to the motion of the ship, I didn't much feel like dancing. Overall, I would rate this ship experience "excellent" and would definitely go on a cruise again.

Spring Break American Style '07 by RachelS7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I am from Scotland and this was my first cruise so i wasn't sure exactly what to expect but everything was amazing; the staff, food, entertainment etc. The ship itself was very clean and well maintained, it was easy enough to find your way about and there was lots of different things to keep you occupied even on the sea day. I enjoyed the cruise so much i am seriously thinking of taking another one in the summer! The staff were all very friendly and helpful and had so much enthusiasm that it helped make the whole experience that bit better. Overall this was an amazing cruise
