Review summary

Overall a very good trip with the following exceptions:  1.  Too many of the port cities were on holiday, making the excursions less than great.  Holland America was aware of this and should have detailed this in the sales brochures.  I felt that we were purposely deceived so that HA could sell more excursions. 2.  There were several people that should have been quarantined due to colds which rapidly spread through the ship.

I've noticed that shore visits and planned excursions are optional and can be arranged and purchased ashore, as well as aboard ship. If you prefer a shorter trip and/or less ports of call, try considering the itinerary prior to your purchase. Sea days can be wonderfully relaxing and enjoyable, although I personally prefer MORE to do than less. With the actual cruise being the "excursion," I enjoy meeting others and exploring new places on my own. Getting proper rest, eating well balanced meals with alcohol & sweets in moderation, keeping hands washed & sanitized, and exercise in the onboard facilities and promenade decks, my personal health is my responsibility.

You can not quarantine a person due to a cold. It has to be a disease that is life threatening and highly contagios
