Get a suite or balcony, don’t waste the chance for great sightseeing or just to sit outside and read, listen or watch.

don't sail with Holland America unless you like being bored and spending money

Enjoy the buffet. It was one of the highlights. Don’t count on internet working. It was the worst we’ve ever encountered on a cruise.

Have fun.

If you like to dance, karaoke, and have fun, don't sail this ship

Do not book a cruise early with Holland America. I thought I had gotten a good price for this 28 day cruise and booked it 10 months prior to sailing date. I was requested to pay in full and informed it was non refundable. I subsequently saw prices drop $450. per person or $900. for the cabin. I notified my travel agent and subsequently informed that Holland America would neither match the reduced rate or provide any concessions- no shipboard credit; nothing toward gratuities; no wine or dinners in gourmet restaurants; no excursions- absolutely not one cent. I have taken 44 previous cruises on various cruise lines, and never treated so despicably unfair. I met another woman on board who booked 6 weeks before the sailing and had a higher class suite than I had for 1/2 of what I paid. They had my money for 10 months and would not refund a cent. .

Check for viruses in the country you are about to visit.

Great ship, a little too big for my taste. But everything was excellent: food, crew, captain. Holland america line is the best.

Don't do it. All of the passengers were complaining the whole time

Get a verandah cabin. Deck 5 was very quiet.

The cruise is a great intro to Alaska, but there isn't a lot of time at the various ports of call. I need to make a second visit!

Have fun and relax!

This ship and the activities are focused on adult travelers. They do have kids clubs, but the focus is on adults less than families/children. It was perfect for my retired husband and I.
