It was horrible. We were supposed to disembark at 8:00 pm did not get off ship until 9:00. Couldn't do anything in Victoria. Too late to do anything. No shore excursions. They were all closed! All shops were closed. A couple of years ago I spent a week in Victoria, BC and LOVED every minute of it. we had time to do things! This is a wasted stop!!!!!!! Should never have been here at all!

The reason for stopping in Victoria is because of maritime law. If the ship doesn't port in a foreign country the cruise line would pay exorbitant tax fees. Holland is not a funship cruise line. It is a line geared to older travelers who like to attend lectures on the ports. There are so many Youtube channels on cruise lines next cruise watch a few first so you can get the experience you are looking for.

Your review was very vague. Have you ever sailed with Holland America? You said you have older kids. Holland America is NOT a family cruiseline. The avg age is definitely 65+ yrs old. The activities are different too. So your research first.
