Get a balcony so you can see everything going on outside, I think it would get clostophobic in an inside cabin. It was nice seeing things as they were happening.

Order at least one case of bottled water in advance. $8 for 12 bottles isn't a bad price, it's cheaper than at the bars, and it's convenient to have it already in the room when you board.

If its first time on a cruise only plan one excursion at each port allowing enough time to shop with local vendors

If you have a evening excursion make sure you eat on the excursion because evertyis closed when you get back other then room service which takes forever.
