If you have the money, see the individual islands by land. Unfortunately, this is the only cruise around the islands. Norwegian Cruise Lines has an exclusive contract with the government of Hawaii to be the only cruise line to operate there. I guess they pay more for the privilege.
The Liberty dining room has a dress code, but the menu is exactly the same as the Skyline. Not worth the effort unless you really want a reason to dress without paying for the specialty restaurants.
The more formal dining room on deck 6 had pretty good service, even though our orders were never totally correct. The less formal dining room on deck 5 was loud and had horrible service
There is no adults-only area, so if you are looking for peace and quiet, avoid this cruise. Also, pay the $10 to be able to text through the app. Relying on notes and telephones was aggravating. Buying one account for each cabin is sufficient.
Take your breakfast up on the 11th deck at the moderno restaurant. It is a complete breakfast buffet and sit at the outside dining area on the stern of the ship. Since it is always in port, its a great way to start each day.
Make sure you have reservations for your car rentals before you board the ship. Should you keep the car overnight in Maui, you can park the car at the Kahului airport for $13. Renting a car for most of the cruise will save you a bundle, especially if you have a family.
Make reservations for dinner otherwise might have to wait a bit to get into your restaurant. Skyline has the same food as the restaurant above and you can wear very casual clothing!
To get your familiar with the environment as soon as possible and read the news letter the night before next day so that you know exactly what you needed. If going for offshore excursions by yourself, please make sure to save sufficient time to meet the needs of some unexpected situations.
