Pride of America

Sail Date: July 09, 2016

Traveled As: Large Group

Room Type: Oceanview

This was our first cruise on NCL and we were very disappointed in Pride of America.  We have cruise 10 - 12 times, so have a certain expectations.  The ship itself seemed tired and didn't have a "grand cruise ship" feeling at all.  90% of the employees seemed to hate their jobs and you definitely were not made to feel special in any way.  The food was average at best.  The entertainment was so-so.  The cost was way higher than we normally pay, but since they have the only market for summer cruises in Hawaii, there were no choices.  We went with family/friends, so weren't able to choose another time.  Overall, very disappointed and probably would not consider NCL again.  Maybe other NCL ships and service is better, but this left a bad taste for us!

Embarkation and Disembarkation
Very smooth
Ship Quality
The ship felt tired, very plain and humdrum. Clean, but didn't give you that grand cruise ship feeling
Destinations and Excursions
Going to Hawaii for the first time, it was nice to be able to go to 4 of the islands, to get a taste of Hawaii. Did our excursions outside of the ship since the ship excursion were so pricey
Service and Staff
Chris, our cabin steward was great. Probably the most affable person we met onboard. Our in-laws never met their cabin steward, never had any towel animals, and that steward even left the extra TP on the bed -- couldn't even get it in the bathroom!
Food and Dining
Food was average. Set up of the buffet was poorly laid out and seemed there was limited options for getting food when you wanted

The more formal dining room on deck 6 had pretty good service, even though our orders were never totally correct. The less formal dining room on deck 5 was loud and had horrible service
