The ship was kept clean at all times, the casino was fab. but the extra side trips added alot to our totals.

Our overall impression of the ship was fantastic. Beautiful.

Upgraded to much enjoyed deck. Dining and buffet food from pizza to lobster was great. Very clean ship with friendly service staff. Fun activities - - will cruise again.

We are senior citizens and this being our first cruise we have nothing to compare it with. However, we loved every minute of it. We were impressed with the luxurious decor everywhere on the ship. The diningroom food was the quality you would find in the very best restaurants. The buffet was also excellent with a huge variety of food, and it was wonderfully prepared. The live entertainment was top notch. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. The balcony was very comfortable too. We enjoyed getting an itinerary each morning of ship events, a flyer about the port we would be visiting and also a daily news report for US and also Canada. The staff was so friendly and extremely accommodating. The embarking and disembarking procedures were extremely organized as was everything else on the ship. Everywhere were automatic machines supplied with anti-bacteria lotion. The Casino was great and so were all the observation areas.The special food events were fabulous (Chocolate Extravaganza was one) We will certainly cruise on the Osterdam again or any of Holland America ships.

Big enough to keep finding new places, but not so big that you couldn't develop some degree of familiarity. Loved the hot ceramic loungers and hydrotherapy pool. Great layout of Lido deck - views from pretty much every table.

The Oosterdam is Great! She's Big, and pretty New. We are 8 people from age 19-28. We enjoyed our vacation except the Music at Northern Lights are not re-mixed for young people to dance.

WE CRUISED ON THE HOLLAND AMERICA OOSTERDAM. tHIS IS OUR 2ND CRUISE WITH H.A. AND HAVE FOUND THIS LINE TO BE OUR FAVORITE. eVERYTHING IS ALWAYS CLEAN AND SHARP AND THE EMPLOYEES CAN'T BE BEAT. THIS TIME ,SINCE WE DIDN'T ATTEND THE CAPT'S RECEPTION WE NEVER SAW OUR CAPT. AT ANY OF THE MEALS OR AT ANY OF THE OTHER FUNCTIONS. tHIS IS THE 1ST TIME THAT WE HAVE NEVER MET OUR CAPT. We booked late so were given the anytime dining choice. We really liked being able to choose our time to eat and we were even able to request our favorite table. enjoyed meeting a number of nice people. We are planning another cruise next year and have already booked with H.A.

The Oosterdam was a very nice ship. Having cruised on 3 other ships we thought it was comparable with the top ones we had been on. Very clean! Our steward was a little slower than we had been used to on previous cruises.

the shio was wonderful. we have sailed with holland america many times and have always had the greatest time. while this ship is somewhat different than some of the others, it is still wonderful. the food and entertainment are always topnotch.

The Oosterdam was very clean and well maintained. Our dining service and service in the Lido were excellent. All our spa and experiences on the ship were very good. It was so relaxing and such a treat to have someone do everything for you.

Definitely one of the best of our six cruises we have enjoyed. Our first with Holland America, but not our last. We can't wait to go again.

There were a lot of Phillipine youth working on this ship, and they were all so nice and gracious. My luggage was stolen on a past cruise. I really trusted the employees on the MS Oosterdam.

We have traveled with 3 different cruise lines. Holland America being the best in every respect. The personel beginning with the embarcation, on board, food and beverage, entertainment, service in general including maintenance are highly professional and polite. Percentage wise these folks have the highest of best all around personnel in the seas. Other lines also have good and great but in lesser numbers. We feel at home and with family everytime we travel Holland America.

I thought the crew was wonderful, the ship was immaculate and the food was wonderful. I highly recommend Holland America Cruise line. I have traveled on the Oosterdam, the Maasdam and the Veendam. Every experience has been wonderful and I don't have one complaint except that all good things have to come to an end and I had to go home!!!!

In Room Dining services took forever and mostly messed up the order; the food was less than desired especially the coffee. Embarkation is a nightmare on the first day. Not very clear on all the services the boat provides. No free drinks in the Casino (the first time ever in a casino). THey would take your word on the room number as opposed to asking for your card all the time. THe entertainment staff worked really hard; however, they were not that great.

The ship is a beautiful cruise ship and we were upgraded to a superior balcony on the top accommodation deck. (8th). The only complaint that HAL can not be held responsible for was that everyone around us seemed to smoke and the smoke seemed to find a way to our veranda. The tours, as are most cruise line tours, are expensive and make you feel like you are a cow in a cattle car, rushed from here to there at their pace. In most cases we have found that two couples can do much better by bargaining with a taxi driver and seeing what you want, not what they think you should see. They can and do change the tour highlights and if you change your mind, it is going to cost you. AVOID the tours if you can and do your own.

OVERALL THIS CRUISE AND SHIP WERE ENJOYABLE. HOWEVER SOMETIMES IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS THAT COUNT AND IN THIS CASE ADD UP. SHIP WAS WAY TOO COLD, HAD TO WEAR JACKETS MOST OF THE TIME. DRINK GLASSES WERE WAY TO SMALL. CABIN CONFIGURATION WAS NOT THE BEST, NOT MUCH STOARGE SPACE AND WITH A TABLE AND CHAIR RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CABIN, HAD TO MOVE IT TO GET AROUND AND INTO THE CLOSET. FOOD WAS JUST AVERAGE AND WE HAD HEARD THAT HAL WAS THE BEST, NOT SO. THE SERVICE AND WAITER IN THE DINING ROOM WERE SUBSTANDARD, VERY SLOW. SOMETIMES WE AT TABLE 6 FELT INVISIBLE, WAITER RARELY TALKED OR SMILED. CHECK IN AND CHECK OUT WERE VERY GOOD IE EMBARK AND DISEMBARK. SHIP WAS VERY CLEAN AND SANITIZED REGULARLY, NO NORO ON THIS SHIP. OTHER CREW MEMBERS ENCOUNTERED WERE EXCELLENT, CRUISE WAS VERY SMOOTH.

The ship had a pretty good flow in terms of moving from front to back of the ship. The Lido deck was good in the sense that the food was sectionalized (fruits, vegetables, hot food etc..) this way a person does not have to stand behind someone who is taking salad before arriving at the hot food station. Our stateroom was always maintained clean, but toiletries were not replenished automatically. Due to the function room being occupied by people who are in some sort of workshop/meeting, we did not get to see any movies. Kids facilities were always closed for my young son & they took him in if there was not a lot of older kids in camp. Gift shops were lacking in merchandise selection. Cruise lines should always carry enough merchandise as people are there to buy, running out because of end of season should not be a reason. Sizes of clothing were also difficult to find.

The ship was very elegant. Since it was only 4 years old, everything still looked brand new. The staff was extremely friendly, especially "Hunky Dory" and the shows were good. This cruise ship didn't have anywhere near the activities of the other cruise lines I've been on though, and I'd guess that the average age of the passengers was around 70+. Definitely not a party ship like the Carnival cruises I've been on, e.g., no deck parties, but if you just want to relax then this is perfect.

This is my second cruise. The first one was with another company. I have to say I liked it better. I liked their layout better because you didn't have to go throgh the casino to get from one end of the ship to another. Too much advertising about the Spa. I wasn't too crazy about walking around the wo oval stations to find out what there was to eat. Then you had to stand in line. The selling of merchandise wasn't that great or variety. Coming down a staircase you walked right into a table.
