Review summary

Definitely one of the best of our six cruises we have enjoyed. Our first with Holland America, but not our last. We can't wait to go again.

The Rhythms of the Night excursion was the highlight of the trip. You are greeted right outside the ship and board a catamaran for a one hour ride to a secluded area that you can only get to by boat. As you arrive, you hear drums and see men blowing into sea shells. You are greeted numerous times as you walk down the path to the beach area where tables are set up for each of your parties to enjoy the dinner: steak, chicken and fish along with potatoes, rice and veggies. After dinner you can roam the area, it's beautiful, and then take your seat in an outdoor theater for a show of dance, music and excitement. It was so enjoyable.

Three years ago we stopped in Cabo and it was much more enjoyable. Now it's the typical Mexico. Very pushy people trying to sell you things. They stand about 5 feet apart and are in your face or putting jewelry on your wrist.

We did the Shrimp Feast excursion, booked from the ship. Fabulous! They pick you up and take you to a private residence, the owner was there to greet us. You select a table on the patio and sit back to relax while listening to a singer while being served drinks for the roaming waitstaff. Lunch consisted of: fresh tortillas, guacamole, salsa, refried beans, beer battered shrimp, peel & eat shrimp and garlic shrimp with rice. It was DELICIOUS and a very enjoyable ride back to the ship with a small tour along the way.

Pros: Food and staff

Cons: No hair dryer and smoking
