Great ports, didn't like the ship by washer93

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Viva

Overall the ports were great except most of excursions are over 30 minutes ride to get there with a lot being more than an hour drive. And as usual with a cruise , the excursions were not worth the money. Smokers were treated like second class citizens unless you smoked cigars . Then you had a nice lounge to sit in. Alot of nights the casino was only open 4 or 5 hours from 1130 til 4 or 5 am . It seems the European union puts a lot of restrictions on cruise ships . . I will probably not be sailing on Norwegian again. The free at sea stuff is nice but not worth a bad experience.

Mixed feelings with this Crossing by Mhdez

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Viva

A transatlantic crossing is a must do, and this particular crossing had two big advantages for us: It departed from our home port (San Juan), and had ports that are not generally included in most crossings. From that perspective, we enjoyed this cruise. However, due to the limitations of the Viva itself (mainly related to venues and hours of operation, see above) we will not consider another crossing in a Norwegian ship.

Caribbean Transatlantic cruise by LarryLatham

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Viva

The food in the main dining room and speciality restaurants was very good. The buffet was too small and always crowded. The Indulge food hall was the best restaurant idea on a cruise ship I have ever seen. I wish every cruise line would copy this. Syd Norman's Pour House and the Improv at Sea comedy club are too small for this size ship. Always lines an hour before the show starts. The interior design of the ship is not very good causing crowdedness. Only one small swimming pool for a ship this size. A comment I heard from a number of passengers, was that the ship seemed to be designed by someone that had never been on a cruise ship before.

Innovative Ship with Extended Itinerary by lross200

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Viva

The extra long crossing was the appeal. Turns out this was to allow enough time for NCL to complete some upgrades to the entertainment options on the upper decks. This ship is clearly being positioned to serve Millennial families on 7-day cruises where the Kids must have plenty of experiences (that they could easily have on land at any amusement park.) There is feeling that this is the cruise product of the future - from smaller public venues to multiple opportunities to spend money on experiences. Not sure who thought the theater that converts to a disco was a good idea, but I believe time will prove that it is operationally a loser.

We would love to sail on the Viva again! by JenMiles

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Viva

All in all a great experience. There are certainly some things that could have been better (most centered around better attention to detail from the staff), but we will sail with Norwegian again and hopefully on the Viva, but maybe out of a different port.

worst cruise experience by worstexperice

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Viva

overall, this cruise experience is terrible. From the long waiting time at the port to get a room to get a noisy room and talked to the customer service many times in person to finally get a room. And the foods selection is very limited.

Amazing Cruise by sblackfl

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Viva

The trip was amazing. All of the ports we have done before and chose the boat because of the ports. Took a day to figure out the boat, but after that it was easy. The food was fabulous for a crusie ship. If one is looking for 5 star service, book the Ritz Carlton boat. But if you enjoying cruising this is an excellent option.

Not a fan of this ship by sl1282

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Viva

We love the travel and food and pool time along with good entertainment. This ship has a terrible layout. They nickel and dime you every change they get. All venues are too small. No chocolate to be found anywhere. The stores are lacking big time. The worst part of all is that 4 nights of entertainment was Beetle Juice that was sold out before we got on the ship! Other entertainment options were severely lacking and overcrowded and then they even cancelled Beetlejuice! They need to make sure ALL passengers can see a show. Don't sell tickets b4 people board. This was our worst cruise ever by far, and we have cruised a lot.

NCL Viva by hernandezserita

Overall had a great time. The ports were beautiful, but St Lucia was a favorite. Viva was a beautiful very clean ship. Need more entertainment, larger venues to accommodate ship size. More pool. Love the varied seating areas on ship.

Great cruise, Beautiful Ship by karynaparker26

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Viva

I would highly recommend this cruise as it has no sea-days. It was a joy to be at a different port each day. Yes, you are extremely tired by the end of the cruise, but oh so thankful for the wonderful memories at each port.

It was a good cruise but I think I would have liked at least 1 sea day The Viva is a excellent ship but Norwegian missed the mark on a few things on the making of the ship. I would recommend it

NCL Viva Southern Caribbean Cruise by tricie10

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Viva

Not sure I would go on the Viva again. While it is a beautifully decorated ship it is lacking in a lot of areas overall. The shopping was nil to none and when you could shop it was only in the late evenings. This seems so odd to me. Not enough fun shops, just mostly the jewerly and watch ones. Couldn't get food 24/7. Buffet was small and although the other complimentary ones were decent with the views and such they just didn't offer a lot of choices either. If you are solo then the solo lounge was amazing. I wore out the espresso machine in there.

New isn't always better by tcrdfritz

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Viva

IMO the Viva is not built to accommodate all the passengers. As the itineraries are a port everyday, any change resulting in a sea day would be overly crowded. The ability to navigate the layout of the ship is challenging and illogical. Venues are small, especially the buffet. Staff is fantastic.

Good and bad by jing4776

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

Viva new concept for layout, but too small of areas for qty of people on board that exceeded area capacities. Who wants to wait an hour in a line to get into a small club?

Beautiful Ship for Cruising by GeorgiaCruiserR

Overall Norwegian Viva is a beautiful ship. The rooms truly felt like hotel rooms. However, the constant long lines at the buffet were a major disappointment.

Beautiful ship. Modern design. Spacious cabin and bathroom. Entertainment was great. Lots to do and see. Staff and customer service were great. Mandera spa was great and relaxing. Enjoyed a 1 day pass. Food in main dining room is hit or miss. Would definitely cruise this ship again.
