Review summary

I really enjoyed the itinerary. I just wish there were some sea days so we could rest. When a cruise is port-intensive like this one, we tend to do as much as we can to experience the area. If there were a couple of sea days, we would have appreciated the break to sleep in and enjoy the ship.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Once we entered the facility the line moved quickly through Security. From there we proceeded to check in to receive our key cards. We were immediately allowed to board the ship without waiting. This was the fastest embarkation ever!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
There were plenty to choose from. The Surfside Buffet was smaller than what I'm used to and often crowded, but we managed to find space every time we went there. All the specialty restaurants we went to were wonderful.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
I went to the Casino, and I enjoyed it.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
I thought the stage shows were great. There were several musicians on board that provided a variety of music.

Children's Programs

There were no children with me.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
I felt like we were given special attention everywhere we went. My family and friends were very impressed with the friendliness and "above and beyond" attitude of everyone we encountered. Some of the key players who remembered us from our Viva cruise last year welcomed us back with open arms. I would like to mention some people by name because they made us feel like royalty: Deepak Punia (General Manager) Mary Jane Baligod (Secretary) Roger Gavankar (Food and Beverage Manager) Dino Hadzimahovic, Assistant Food and Beverage Manager Jojo Chen, Beverage Manager Adolfin Fernandes, Executive Chef Rikelson Thomas, Sous Chef Grace Frias, Casino Manager Raquel Nunez, Guest Services Manager Kenia Ugarte, Housekeeping Manager Violeta Bratu, Restaurant Manager Ni Komang Indrawati, Maitre D’ Jaybee Morales, Maitre D’ Nikola Katic, Assistant Maitre D’ Keith Poblete, Assistant Maitre D’ Winnie Santa Rosa, Assistant Maitre D’ Emal Cizmic, Assistant Maitre D’ Phena Orlanes, Waiter Jerome (room steward)

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The layout is unique and takes getting used to. It's a beautiful ship! Common areas were well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The size was adequate for two adults. There were plenty of storage spaces, and I liked the light interior. Our steward made sure our cabin was kept clean.

Ship tip

On embarkation day, finalize all restaurant reservations and make sure to learn the layout of the ship.

Ports of call

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

4 out of 5
The embarkation location seemed like a temporary facility instead of a permanent building. It was a very warm day, and the air conditioning seemed inadequate. But the processing line moved quickly, and we were allowed to board the ship immediately.

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

5 out of 5
Port was okay. We did an excursion (Pisa and Trolley Ride) which was wonderful. The trolley ride made it easier to get from the bus parking lot to the Pisa Tower compound.

NAPLES (POMPEII), ITALY

5 out of 5
Port was okay. We did an excursion (Pompeii On Your Own). We paid for a tour guide which made the visit to the Pompeii ruins much more interesting.

Messina, Sicily

5 out of 5
Port was okay. We paid for a private van to take us to Taormina where we had a great view of Mt Etna.

Valletta, Malta

5 out of 5
Port was nice. We did an NCL excursion (Taste of Malta).

Catania, Sicily

4 out of 5
Port was okay.

Corfu, Greece

4 out of 5
Port was okay. We did an NCL excursion (Best of Corfu with Lunch).

Dubrovnik, Croatia

5 out of 5
The port was nice. We did an NCL excursion (Cabrio Panoramic Tour). It rained during our excursion. We didn’t mind it because the rain gave us cooler temperatures. There were some vendors at the port who made it convenient to do some souvenir shopping.

Split, Croatia

5 out of 5
Port was nice. We did an NCL excursion (Scenic Split by Tuk Tuk) which was very enjoyable. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and informative!

Koper, Slovenia

5 out of 5
Port was nice. We hired a private vehicle to do a tour.

TRIESTE (VENICE), ITALY

4 out of 5
The port was an old facility. This was our disembarkation point so all we did was exit the facility and wait for our transfer ride to Venice.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarkation was quick and easy. However, once we collected our luggage and exited the building, there was nowhere to sit and wait for our ride. It was very warm outside with hardly any shade.
