Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Main restaurant asst maitre'd Gary was outstanding along with server Eugenio. Our room Stewart Defender was polite and professional. Room was spotless everyday after our return from excursions.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Newer ship was very clean. Didn't like the fact only 1 decent size room for entertainment. Rumors could have easily filled a room twice the size of Sydney Norman's.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Size was nice including size of bathroom. Couch cushion always slid off. Plenty of closet room and liked the basket drawers.
Ship tip
Enjoy the infinity pools and hot tubs. Arrive early for excursions and sit up front. Don't worry about booking shows as there was plenty of seats available to both bookable shows.
Actually arrived in Rome 3 days before cruise. Used Hop on Hop Off to see most of city. PRE-BOOK Vatican museum as when we exited from our guided tour, the line was well over 1000 people. The museum is extraordinary.
Pisa was a 20 minute walk from parking lot and it was raining when we visited. Almost got lost trying to find our meeting point in the rain. Florence was also rainy and extremely crowded. Unable to get into Uffizi Gallery as didn't pre-book and line was too long.
Naples was sunny which was nice. Decided to do Red line to see more of city. Buy your tickets on shore kiosk and save a few Euros vs buying from cruiseline.
Actually Malta was one of my favorite ports. Also did Hop on Hop off which covered the island from inland to beaches. If you previously used HoHo, keep you receipt and you get 10% off future HOHO trips.
Unfortunately you have to either take an excursion or pay $20 to take shuttle from pier to old Town Dubrovnik. We decided on Historic Dubrovnik and our guide did point out areas related to GOT. Saw quite a bit, but didn't pay the additional $35 Euros to walk on the battlements walls. That is included in the GOT tour.
Chose Historic Split walking tour which wasn't much, but we had purchased Priority Pass which gave $50 off per cabin per day for excursions. Weather was perfect so a leisurely walk around the park was nice.
Took the Postojna Caves excursion. Beware 2 km of walking thru the cave with lots of water, but amazingly not slippery. Make sure you use the restroom before going in the cave. There is a nice bathroom at the end, but requires 1 Euro. Definitely a experience, but once again, lots of walking up and down inside.
Took the $50 per person transfer to Marco Polo Airport in Venice. Took a complimentary private boat from airport to Hyatt Centric Murano which was nice. The free water taxi must be pre booked at least a week in advance.
We scheduled our transfer after an excursion was canceled. They separated luggage by color. Unfortunately our color Brown was in 2 different locations in the cruise terminal. Nothing in terminal except baggage claim. People were having a hard time hailing cabs and Uber. Choose a transfer or excursion to avoid this problem.
Sounds like a wonderful trip. Glad you had a good trip. The Viva style ship is beautiful. We did find that when we went to Europe, they didn't book a comedian due to American and European sense of humor being different.
