The itinerary of this cruise was wonderful! I loved every port - some more than others. However, I needed a vacation once I returned home because I was on the go the entire time. The Viva is a very big ship, and I was a bit overwhelmed by the number of people; I prefer smaller ships. We were very fortunate with the weather and the sea was smooth for almost the entire trip. The waiters in the main dining room were great and my stateroom steward was The Best!

Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The food in the specialty restaurants was very good, but the main dining room was iffy. Sometimes it was excellent and sometimes it was quite mediocre. The service, on the other hand, was outstanding! I was disappointed that I wasn't allowed to take beverages to my stateroom unless they were in a glass despite the fact that I had an unlimited beverage package.
Onboard Activities

There was really nothing that interested me.

I didn't attend any of the entertainment.

Service and Staff

My stateroom steward was wonderful! He was available when I needed him and always had a smile to share. He was kind and helpful.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Common areas were always clean and in excellent condition. I loved the dining room but wasn't tremendously impressed with the rest of the design. Even after 10 days, I still wasn't sure where I was going.
Cabin / Stateroom

The room was wonderful. It was kept very clean (thanks to my stateroom steward!). The only thing that might have been useful would have been a table in front of the sofa. The bed was very comfortable, and the balcony was spacious with comfortable chairs.
Ship tip
If there is a show you want to see, sign up early. I wasn't able to see the one show I wanted to see because I waited too long.
I really liked this port. I did the Pisa and Florence on your own and thought that our guide was outstanding. We had just enough time in each city to get a little taste.
Went on the tour to the Rothschild mansion and then a walking tour of Villefranche. Our tour guide was okay but her accent made her difficult to understand. Villefranche is very hilly!
Two excursions - one to Aix en Provence which was delightful although our guide was very difficult to understand. Also did a walking tour of Marseille and our guide was outstanding. Lots of walking and it was worth every step!
