Expect a major difference from larger ships in selection and variety, but staff makes it most enjoyable.

Versailles is much better than Aqua because of the openness, views of the sea and service, even if the food is identical

Make sure you understand what you are going to do for three days prior to reaching first port. One can get bored and a little stir crazy with few activities but eating.

I would not recommend a cabin at the front of the ship. The last day heading back was so rough that I experienced severe sea sickness. Also, the smoking deck is on 12, as well as the buffet and swimming pole. I smoke so I watched a lot of people come outside and have to walk through the smokers area. If this is an issue for you, I wouldn't recommend a room on deck 12.

Don't expect greatness. In some ways it's better than other cruise ships, in some ways it's about the same, and in a few cases, it's worse.

Wear your most comfortable shoes on embarkation and debarkation days. Take a backpack for items you need for going ashore. If you plan to eat in the nicer restaurants, make your dinner reservations as soon as you book your trip so you get preferred dinner times.

I believe we may have lost one passenger the first night out. We also had two medical calls go over the pa system. In Cabo we had three passengers not make it back on the boat. Be prepared.

They don't really tell you that you need to book reservations for the specialty restaurants ASAP. My family got the upgraded dining package and this was their first time on Norwegian. They didn't know you need to literally book your specialty reservations as soon as you book your cruise if you got the specialty dining. My family thought you could make reservations on the boat right when you embark and EVERY time and EVERY restaurant was booked for EVERY day. The front desk people pretty much told my family 'too bad so sad' and did not allow them to switch their 'Free at Sea' choice. Once you board the ship you cannot change your "Free at Sea" ALSO - I would get the unlimited beverage package for your "Free at Sea" choice. By far the best value ($800 for one week) On this ship, only one person per two people really needs the unlimited beverage package. They will give one person with the unlimited beverage package 2 drinks at a time without a problem.
