Review summary

Take excursions to make most of these ports. These are working cities not just tourist attractions like the Caribbean. Lounge singers we're all very good as are ship band and dancing company. Loved the onboard commentary thru the canal and the 5 talks on major sailing expeditions through history by a retired Prof from Notre Dame.

This is an older ship. But we've been on it 4 times because the itineraries are so good

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
It's smaller than some other cruise lines but plenty of storage.

Ship tip

Versailles is much better than Aqua because of the openness, views of the sea and service, even if the food is identical

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

We went to Key Largo and saw manatees before the cruise started. Awesome!

Cartagena, Colombia

Took an historic tour to the fort and old city. Delightful but skip the gruesome presentation in the Inquisition museum

Panama Canal Transit

Unbelievable! The weather was perfect. An expert gave comments throughout the day. It was so great. I want to go again!

Puntarenas, Costa Rica

Did snorkelling trip but have to pay an extra $20 to snorkel. That shouldn't be given that this excursion is already over $200 per person.

Puerto Corinto, Nicaragua

Took excursion to Leon. Excellent new bus, great guide, interesting city. They don't have many tourists so don't expect tourist stuff. Notice how clean everything is for Central America. Hints of government control.

Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala

Did Antigua on our own. Lots of trinket vendors everywhere but the city is still the same. Very charming.

Acapulco, Mexico

Loved the cliff divers. So glad I took an excursion to see the city

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Amazing whale watching excursion. We had 2 humpbacks breeching for 10 minutes

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California

Immigration is so slow here. Long lines to get off ship.

Disembarkation

After immigration it was easy

Thank you for this review. Could you please tell me which ports are close to a beach, if any? And which ports would be best to book excursions?
