I had one child that was sea sick and every time I would call room service they woould hang up on us. The first day we found someones under wear in our closet and m& m under the bed and someones soap was left in the shower. Kinda grossed me out. Food was not good at all!

an okay cruise by SarahF

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was my first cruise so I don't have a lot to compare it to, but was more disappointed in all of the work you had to do just to get on the boat. Once on there, it was a decent experience. I generally could find something to do and had a good time relaxing. I however, did not like the reception desk and the unprofessionalism that they displayed. At one point, I went to ask a general question about disembarkation when 2 lady's standing not even 4 feet away from each other looking at each other, would not even listen to the easy question and kept telling me to go ask the other. We also were not given the appropriate credit we were promised as everyone else in our group got a room upgrade and we didn't.

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was a well oiled machine. Everyone and everything had its place and functioned to the letter. Guests and Staff were all very polite and courteous at all times. There was pleanty of room for us all and all activities were well thought out for space and time constraints.

It was a good cruise by SammieM

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We like the concept of seeing alot of different ports . We spent alot of money after we boarded the ship that we didn't expect . It was our first cruise and we got schooled on not what they will do for you but what they are not going to do . Water and ice tea are free . Not brewed ice tea but fountain ice tea . On one part of the ship . So plan to take a hike if you are thirsty .

Not bad for the price by PaulaH1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This is a nice ship with a nice set of stops for the price. The refund on the fuel surcharge was a nice addition to the cruise. The one thing I disliked about this route was the sanitation. We went to stops that had 'stages' set for us to explore. There was no experiencing the islands as the ports were fenced off and only the approved locals were permitted to interact with guests. In my years of cruising, I'm noticing more and more that if you want to experience life on the islands, you have to shcedule and pay for a cruise ship sponsored trip. I miss the days when you could get off the ship and catch a taxi to the beach.

NCL's exotic Caribbean cruise by PamL3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall, NCL was enjoyable. Freestyle dining is the way to go. you can eat when and where you would like to. Entertainment was ho hum. the best thing on the ship was the art auction. However, we "won" a raffle for a picture. Then when we went to pick out what we wanted, we got a hard sell on other pieces of art.

A wonderful cruise!! by MariaV10

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean

It was a very nice ship. My first time on the Spirit. My second cruise on the Norwegian line. Everything was beautiful. I met great new friends. I had a wonderful time. The only thing I did not like was that there was no fun games, no dancing, no prices, etc. arround the pool side during our sea days as it was very boring, and also there was nothing exciting at the dining room when we approached a different island, something authentic, either food, caribbean dancing or drinks of the new island we were going to.

A good cruise with a few exceptions by Jlynn47834083

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

NCL staff at NYC port were disrespectful to customers. After pre-registering on-line and obtaining confirmation no., stood in line 2 &1/2 hours and was turned away to go to desk & get tkts- more waiting. Our travel companions in front of us with exact same info were allowed to board ship We were yelled & screamed at by NCL staff! NCL staff aboard ship was friendly and eager to please. This was our 3rd cruise with NCL - will be our last!!!

Norwegian Screwup by NancyJ6

Sail date: / Traveled as:
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

We arrived at New York Port and was directed to wait in a long line. We waited 2 1/2 hours standing on concrete. I had reccommended this NCL to the couple with us. We were exhusted by the time we moved up in the line. We had pre-registered as requested by , but were told by NCL we didn't have tickets. We were allowed to go through the security line by agents looking at our pre-registeration, but our friends were sent back to a ticket desk. Then our friends were told to go up through security with the papers they were given. As they started up to the security agent a NCL personnel yelled at them to get to the back of the 2 1/2 waiting line again. By this time our friends were pretty fed up and told the agent they were sick and tired of waiting. So after a lengthly discussion they were permitted to go to security. We were waiting for them on the other side of security. They were very upset and I felt responsible as I had planned the trip. This was much too long of a wait. My friends were treated very rudely. We are all senior citizens and my husband has a heart condition and several other serious health conditions. My friend's wife also has health problems. This was a very unhappy boarding. I'm very dissappointed in this and embarrassed for reccommending NCL. The disembarment was a long wait again as another NCL ship was in port and again we waited 2 hours to get off the ship. My husband has twisted his knee on the cruise and had to be taken out by wheelchair. I would not reccommend this NCL ship.

New England and Canada cruise by MelissaT6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

The ship was very clean and the staff is friendly. There is plenty to do on the ship so don't waste your money on those shore tours, just go out on your own and come back to the ship on your own.

Great cruise by DonnaP9

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

This was the first time on The Spirit for our family. I booked a Suite for myself, my husband & daughter. The suite was on the rear of the ship. Kind of noisy & rough. We did have bad weather though, so I did take that into account. Probably will not book on the rear again.

Wonderful cruise by JaiN

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

The crew ship, service, food, all were wonderful, it was a nice experience. Initially we had sea sickness, so take some over the counter drugs handy. Everything on the crew was good and fun :), well organized. Only complaint we had was a less time given to spend time at attractions spots, specially we liked Saint John, such a beautiful city and they gave us far less time. Also they screwed up at Martha's Wineyard, they could not de-embark us at Martha's Wineyard, poor planning from NCL. Looks like they want you to spend more time on the ship and sell you more ;). Overall, it was a nice cruise experience for us.

A GOOD CRUISE by JoanK4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Both the crew and the cuisine were excellent. The ports were great, also. We had a problem in Martha's Vineyard getting back to the ship. The water was very rough, so we had to wait for a local sightseeing boat to take us there. We were crowded, with no explanation, in a small area under a canopy. I stood for 80 minutes waiting for a ride back to the ship. It was not a pleasant experience but would have been easier if someone would have explained the situation. Also, I would advise travelers not to play the slots at the casino. I did not see anyone winning.......ever! There was a lot of grumbling around the ship because of the total lack of jackpots. One last thought........as an experienced cruiser, I was surprised to find that NCL was charging $10 to $15 per person for the five upgraded restaurants. It used to be one or two at most. Would I do it again? Yes, most definitely, but I might try another cruise line.

An interesting cruise.... by GeorgeB8

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Had never cruised with Norwegian or experienced Freestyle Dining and found it all to be mostly on the plus side. Found checking in and even embarkation at the end to be quite well organized and easy. The Norwegian Spirit I found to be a well kept up ship perhaps not as elaborate as my first two cruises. Would gladly do another cruise on a Norwegian ship.....

Relaxing, freestyle cruise by SusanC2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Overall the ship was beautiful. There were many activities available and many different types of restaurants to eat at. We spent the extra money for a balcony room which was great however our bathroom smelled like garbage or musty laudry so terribly that we had to keep the door closed. Our housekeepers tried to mask the smell with no luck. The bathroom itself was not the cleanest either. Overall the staff were always friendly and accomodating. There should have been a big NOTE on the ship flyer the first day to say -There will be a $10 per day, per person charge for housekeeping and restaurant staff. We were unaware and were tipping daily only to find out about the $10 per day/per person charge on the last day.

NCL Never Choose this Liner by AndrewA4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

The brochure given to us by NCL was not close to reality, the "Oceanview" room was depicted as a large window, not true as it was a porthole. The "many restaurants to choose from had only three of the nine with no additional cover charge.

Wonderful Vacation!! by MelodyC6364336

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

We loved the ship. Beautiful decor and easy access to all venues. We were on the 9th deck. Loved St John's, Boston & Martha's Vineyard. Halifax has lost it's charm to Commericalism.Overall we had the best cruise so far and this was our 4th one. Just a suggestion. I think they should hold a separate mustering for handicapped persons & certain seniors. They stood too long in the heat and many were pushed back against the ship instead of being in front.
