Free style cruising is not for everyone; I read the review before the ship and thought I would give it a chance. So, I decided to book this ship anyway to see for myself. I am not bias but I am not going on another NCL cruise. We are traveling with 7 months old and 7 years old. The first impression of the cabin was the toilet stink! Smell like a public restroom. There is nothing to do around the ship for kids. We check out kid's corner (hide away in the corner that you have to pass many staterooms). The kids' corner was terrible, only one big screen TV and that's it. My daughter immediately told me, I don't want to be here. The kid pool was as tiny as a hot tub. You can sit 10 kids in it and it will be full! We asked to get a crib for our baby and after the 5th request; we got it at almost midnight. My husband has to go to receptionist to get someone to assist personally. FOOD: like other reviewers, I agreed that we are not paying couple thousand dollars to eat regular food like hamburger and hotdog. Other thing I noticed was many INDEAN dish. What's up with this? Curry and vegetarian dish is not something that everyone familiar with. Why serve India food for a ship that sailing from Miami to Bahamas! You expect to see more seafood or Mexican, Cuban or Bahamas dishes/ my whole family got sick the first day just from trying these foods. So, we stick with the regular like lunch meat, salad, and hotdogs. One thing NCL never advertise was COVER CHARGE and AUTOMATICALLY 15% tips. So, when you have to pay 15% regardless, you get lazy and bad service. They will get their tips money anyway, why provide excellent service. If you want to get into a fancy dinner, you have to make reservation and forgot to mention that 25 dollars per person for cover charge for stake restaurant, 20 dollars for French and 15 dollars for Italian. What left out of their 6 restaurants two buffets (one indoor one outdoor server the SAME FOOD), 2 main dining restaurants serving same food (one of them require dress up - what's up with that?? I thought this is free style cruising.)So, if you forgot to pack some dress up shoe or long pant, you stuck with either the buffet or one main dinning restaurant. Or you can pay cover charge to go eat somewhere else. The SHOW: Oh, it was so tiny and poor performance. Nothing like you expects paying money for cruise entertainment. A bunch of country dancing and same 5-6 dancers changing cloth every few minutes. My daughter dance recital was more enjoyable. I am not bias. This is the honest truth! SERVICE: this is the worst of all. The last day of the ship, we suppose to get our bill by 5am. A lot of people did not even get their bill including us. We have to go wait in a long line to get a print out. We found out that we were charge twice for shore excursion. So, we stuck at the ship until almost 10am. From 8:30-10:00am. The ship shutdown AC and it was hot. It was unbearable like they want to kick you out of the ship! The restroom were locked, we can't even go to use the restroom! After all, it is not our false that NCL screwed up the bill! I hope on one take their children on this ship. Please don't even think about give them a chance. You can save a little more money and go on Disney Cruise. It like night and day experience for us!

Overall the ship was great...

Had been on other cruise lines and this was a disaster. All other were great and we were so excited. Tolets did not work. Worse than anything was no air-conditioning. We thought we were going to die of heat. No fun. No activities. Boring beyound belief and we are usuallly very easy to please. Never again. Run, don't make our mistake.

Started off badly and it took two days to recover. Problem with our balcony stateroom; no others available; DOWNGRADED to an interior cabin which was cramped; shore personnel were useless (on purpose by the home office); finally got some staisfaction when I spoke with the hotel manager who was apologetic and helpful. DON'T DEAL WITH ANYONE ELSE: THEY CAN"T HELP! There were a lot of unhappy customers; ship needs a lot of work; expect toilet and a/c problems. I would give this ship at least until early '09 to work out all of the problems.

What a nightmare. TAke time of from work for vacation with the family and it was a disaster. Had 2 superior cabins with balcony, we are 5. rooms were old smelled but believe me that did not bother me much. Toilets not working, AC not working calling the front desk and either not getting a reply back or just no answer... 2 hrs for breakfast and between 2 1/2 and 3 for dinner?? Thanks God we went to the Bahamas and got out of the boat. Rude personel, cold food when available since it will take them forever to get things out, and be carefull asking ... The word customer service did NOT excisted in the boat. Inconsederate security personel in the private island. Had a really bad time and believe me many people had a much worse time... There are many other ships, AVOID THIS ONE.... Spa personal had an incredible attitude problem... I can keep on going.

Embarkation: Embarkation was quick but there was no separate check-in for balcony guests. However, there was bubbly and someone did escort us and take our luggage to our room. Room: We stayed in a balcony room. Pretty standard, nothing special. Our A/C was not cold at all but it was fixed by the 3rd day of the cruise. We were given OBC to make up for it. The bed was rather firm but pillows were plush. Not much in the way of storage space. 3 Drawers in the closet area as well as 2 robes. Two small nightstands on the side of the bed with reading lights that are positioned WAY too low and interfere with pillows. The TV was a standard 13 TV. The bathroom was very cozy, code for small but adequate. Decor: The ship is still decorated in Hawaiian themeing everywhere, not that that is a bad thing. However, there is usually country music playing in the halls. I like country music but why country instead of Caribbean music??? Food: OH BOY. They had LOTS of problems getting the food on the table on time. Il Adagio took well over 1 hour to get food on the table. The whole thing took almost 2 hours and it was NOT a relaxing 2 hours. Then breakfast at Crossings took almost as long. We sat down at Crossings at 9:04 a.m. and I had to complain when we didn't have any food by 9:40 a.m.! FINALLY got it at 9:50 a.m. and I was not the only one pissed off. Funny thing is that the dinner at Il Adagio was given to us for free to make up for the lack of cold air in our stateroom and then the dinner was just horrible! Not just how long it took, I mean the food, it really wasn't good at all and I am NOT a picky eater. To make up for it we were given another free dinner at Cagney's. The food there was exceptional! Great service, great food, great atmosphere. Room service was the worst! On average, it took 1 hour to get your order and that is if you got it at all! One morning we pre-ordered breakfast and it NEVER got there. (Neither did our wake-up call) We soon figured out that if we wanted to eat we had to go to the Garden Cafe. Food there was actually quite good though some people dont seem to understand the action station concept; they thought they had to wait in the whole line to get their food. The food issue was pretty awful the first 2 days but after A LOT of guests complained they really seemed to improve. Entertainment: We dont usually enjoy cruise ship shows so we only went to the first nights and that was OK. The best show I went to was the Not So Newlywed game. That really was great fun and the cruise director Matt was a real blast! Casino: The casino seemed very nice and everything seemed brand new due to the addition. The dealers seemed a little lost the first day and some seemed to still be in training but everything seemed high tech in there. Kids Activities: The Kids Korner was usually open for free from 5-10:30 p.m. and otherwise than that was $5.00 an hour during port days and after 10:30 p.m. 1:30 a.m. Our 4 year old seemed to have a BLAST there! Lots of activities. Pools: The pools and hot tub were usually very busy so we waited until a port day to go in when it was empty. Debarkation: Was fast, efficient, and non-rushed. If you wanted your luggage taken of for you, you had to get off according to the color coded luggage tag you selected. Otherwise if you were taking your own luggage off you could stay onboard until 10 a.m. They didnt rush us off and that was nice. In the end, we did experience lots of problems but we dealt with a lovely front desk supervisor that was a DELIGHT. We were given on board credit to make up for our difficulties. I think they tried to make up for their shortcomings and they apologized over the loudspeaker on the last day. The only reason I gave the ship a poor rating was due to all the problems we experienced on our cruise. Otherwise, it deserves an average rating.

Thoroughly enjoyable autumn cruise around New England and Eastern Canada. A week or two later would have shown us the really vivid colours but we loved it. My gluten free dietary requirements were met splendidly by pleasant, friendly staff.

I really wanted to enjoy this cruise and have a positive review. It was hard due to Joy (possibly racist staff), most of the food, overcrowded pools, small hot tubs, etc. My husband made the cruise as enjoyable as it could be. NCL should incorporate a curfew and have unsupervised teens better monitored. There were teens roaming the halls all hours of the night. I doubt that I will cruise with NCL again.

I was expecting more from the ship experience, I took my daughter and granddaughters on the ship their first experience, I wish our room was a little nicer and the entertainment for the girls was better. I don't think I will do another cruise on this ship.

After sailing this ship 14 times over 15 yrs. Gonna miss her because she is gonna sail asia/Europe. Maybe we meet again!

Despite multiple attempts to contact Katty Byrd, Vice President of Guest Services, about these issues, I have not received a response. Based on my experience, I caution others to be wary of this ship, if not the entire cruise line.

Overall great time! Would consider another ship with kids in tow, plus was it was easy to keep track of them because it's a smaller boat. Easy on and off, pretty easy to get reservations.

Overall a pleasant experience. We chose this cruise for the itinerary not the ship which is small and lacks a lot of amenities that larger ships have. Very few choices for complimentary food (buffet, main dining room and the local). I would not recommend to eat at the local (was being serviced by the buffet)

If NCL improves the food quality and selections this cruise would be choice. Overall great cruise EXCEPT the food. Would do it again but eat more in port… :-)

Fun 5 night cruise! Party type atmosphere. Love the diversity of the cruisers, many nationalities, ages from 20 somethings to seniors . Not a lot of small kids. A plus for me. My second time on the Sky but prefer the larger, more modern ships so I probably won't sail her again.

Older ship was ok. You needed to pass show to go to another.

Really enjoyed our second time on the Sky. We probably wouldn’t take another 3-day cruise on the Sky (once was enough), but if they offered a week itinerary to interesting ports we would definitely go as the service really was excellent and the ship super clean. Would recommend it.

Picked this cruise purely for its itinerary. Luckily, our time on the islands made up for short falls in the quality and quantity of the food, since our last cruise on Sky. The passenger demographic, sailing from DR did not work for us.

Fourteen ports in fourteen days almost need another one to relax
