Review summary

Overall a pleasant experience. We chose this cruise for the itinerary not the ship which is small and lacks a lot of amenities that larger ships have. Very few choices for complimentary food (buffet, main dining room and the local). I would not recommend to eat at the local (was being serviced by the buffet)

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Easy. We got at the Port early and went through check-in in a couple of minutes. Was in a waiting room until the ship was ready to take on passengers.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Overall food in the main dining room was good. Specialty restaurants were great, although Cagneys service was exceptionally slow. Took an hour from the time we ordered to get our first appetizer. They also didn't have as many choices for the sides as other ncl ships.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Typical activities like bingo and trivia. Pool was nice but crowded on sea days like every other cruise.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Shows were ok. They flew in a performer named Patty who was great. Sonata band was exceptional.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Service was exceptional other than dinner at Cagneys. Special shout out to Mojito bartender Hector who was phenomenal.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Older and small ship. Layout was a bit weird as you had to go up a floor to get to certain venues. For example, the main dining room was on deck 5, but you had to go to 6 and walk to the back of the ship, then down to 5. Similar with le bistro. Our cabin was on 6a but you had to go to 7 and then there was a separate staircase you took down to 6a. Ship was clean and crew were constantly maintaining it (they were actually painting some of it at one of the ports)

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Originally we had an interior cabin but bidded for an ocean view cabin which we got. Nice but no elevators to our floor 6a (had to take stairs from 7). Small but expected. Bathroom was exceptionally small.

Ship tip

Would not recommend for first time cruisers as the ship is small and lacking in venues. We chose this cruise for the itinerary.

Ports of call

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas

Decent beach day but lines for food can get really long. They need another taco joint ( we waited over an hour at the only one they had)

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

Went to the famous Megan's bay. Did not see as many fish as last time I was there (100 years ago) but did see some turtles.

Miami, Florida

Went on a catamaran. Snorkeling was excellent and I got to feed some fish and hold a sea urchin.

St. John's, Antigua

We did a zip lining activity which was fun.

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

Mofongo, mofongo, mofongo.

Disembarkation

We took our own luggage but it seemed that so did everybody else. Line was long to get off the ship.
