My granddaughter celebrated her 13th birthday on the ship. We ordered the birthday package - at a cost of $40 - and they delivered a birthday cake to our dining table. While we were at dinner and evening entertainment, they decorated her room with pink balloons and banners.
Although the free coffee sucks big time, weak and no flavor, there's an alternative. WAAAY back next to the Kids' Cafe there's the last beverage station that serves the Garden Terrace buffet. This coffee machine has a hopper loaded with beans it grinds with every cup. Mmmm!
SHOPPING DEAL: Leave your shopping for souvenirs, trinkets, logo stuff, t-shirts for the LAST DAY of your cruise. You'll save a bunch of bucks--half price on much of it. (Also watch for price-slashing on jewelry and watches)
If you crave lox and bagel with cream cheese, forget the smoked salmon tray on view at a self-serve food-service outlet. They've replaced the flower-shaped piece of salmon perched on a cucumber slice with a mound of "salmon mousse," which is mainly mayonnaise. Want it, go to the Summer Palace.
Food at the specialty restaurants, with the exception of La Cucina was excellent. The wait in between courses was a bit long at times but we were told that was because the food is not prepared in advance but as the orders come in. Good selection of wines.
Do not miss the Comedian Tim Kaminski. You will laugh until your crying!! For something to do while at see we just stopped in for his first show. We left there sore from laughing so hard. He had 3 shows during the cruise and each one was hysterical. He is a definite must see!
At busy times it is hard to find a table around the buffet. When this happened we went to o'sheehan's. Still included in the price, but was usually able to be seated right away.
If you would like to have some Quiet time to read a book or just reflect on the day's events - the back of the ship at the Garden Buffet is the place to be. The coffee & tea machine is always available and sweet snacks are abundance.
Overall enjoyed with Family but needed more time in Victoria BC as there is so much to explore.
Also didn't have too much activity on Deck which is usually fun in other Cruise line.
There was less choice for Veg Food and Dinner timings were Early.
Barely any please to eat late night after party
Please remember to tip your room stewards. They are probably not even making minimum wages and are often sending it home to their parents, wives, kids. They are the hardest, most attentive and helpful people on NCL. If you can afford it, get the upgraded meal plans.
There is a bowling alley and 24/7 food in O'Shenhans. The appitizers "chicken fingers and Mozerella sticks" were great. It would be great if they served the chicken fingers with fries as a main dish. Love the Ice Cream self serve machines!!!
