Not our favorite NCL Cruise.... by Brandon418

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Joy

Not our favorite NCL Cruise. You could defiantly tell our cruise was the first revenue cruise after the re-deployment. Food was far from what we came to expect from our cruise on the Bliss in terms of quality. We visited The Local multiple times, and each time the same food we ordered came out a little different than the last round. Ship was not as clean as the Bliss. Some of the staff were amazing, as we come to expect on NCL, however two crew members said they hated their jobs and could not wait until their contract were up to get on a different ship. The Galaxy Pavilion was cool, but not replacement of the Thermal Suite cool. We had another joy cruised booked, but we canceled and rebooked on the Bliss.

Great Alaskan Cruise by Jrodcruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Joy / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

The Norwegian Joy was a great ship and I found all the staff I encountered to be very pleasant and efficient. The ship and staff helped make my Alaskan cruise a very memorable one. I loved all the ports of call and would love to visit them all again soon. The entertainment on the Joy was excellent and the activities offered were great. I enjoyed all the dinning options and drinks were amazing. My favorite drink onboard was the mojito at the sugarcane lounge.

Would not book with NCL again. My experience has so many discontenting parts that it’s too long to put down in this character limited box.

Waste of money by livesalesonline

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Joy / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

We had hoped that paying the additional money to get the "Haven Experience" would be worth the money but it turned out to be a lot of "hype" by NCL. The boarding process was utterly chaotic and just to make a copy of some documents took over 15 minutes! We arrived at our "Penthouse" cabin and were appalled to find that the garbage can was full of garbage and the bathtub with hairs. Lots of apologies but obviously some crew member had used the room the night before. They did not fully clean the cabin just emptied the garbage and cleaned the bathtub so we were definitely leery about sleeping in the bed that night! They don't tell you that the special service elevator only goes to the 18th. floor and there are many Haven cabins on the 17th. floor so not practical to use the service. The ship left 2 hours late and consequently arrived late at the first port so generally a very casual attitude to timely arrivals in ports. The concierge service in the haven usually staffed by one person who was mostly, overwhelmed. The staff were generally very nice and kind, just poorly trained in many cases and overwhelmed. The menu in the Haven restaurant was exactly the same every day breakfast, lunch and, dinner with limited choices. I could go on but you get the picture and I wrote to the CEO and several NCL executives none of whom even bothered to reply. When company executives are so out of touch with their customers or so arrogant that they cannot be bothered to respond to legitimate complaints, the company in my experience (and i have been in business for over 50 years) is in . a very bad place. Sad as NCL in the old days used to be a good company that actually cared about its passengers!

JOYful Cruise by nearbayside

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Joy / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

I had lots of fun on this cruise, all the food and drinks were great and the staff made the trip really easy to enjoy. The ship has lots of things to do to keep you occupied. I only wish it was warmer so I could of tried the pool areas and water slides next time. Other than that, I would recommend this ship to anyone.

Great US Inaugural Cruise by CruiselineSarah

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Joy / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

I think this was a great little cruise for travel agents/media to get to know the ship! While I think there are some design decisions (in particular) that I think NCL should have made differently for this ship, the food, service, and entertainment that I was involved with was great. I don't doubt that this is a good choice for those looking to sail to Alaska.

Fun Joy Ride Along the West Coast by sofit

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Joy / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

A fun time on a lovely ship with friendly staff. There were plenty of activities to keep us busy, even without any ports of call. Food quality left something to be desired, but that was not the focus of our experience. Would have loved to have had more time on the race track, but I'm glad we got one go at it. Overall would recommend this ship for anyone whose main focus in not the dining quality.

Nice 3 Night Escape by CruiselineQ

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Joy / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

Joy is a beautiful new ship with so much to do that it is impossible to be bored. Highlights were dinner at the Q (recommend the short ribs), a decadent seafood buffet at Garden Cafe, flying around corners on the Go Carts and watching Footloose.

A short west-coast trip, great to escape the daily grind and have nothing to worry about for a bit by mgribov

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

A great way to disconnect and not have to worry (too much) about what to eat or what to do, a very relaxing experience. Ship has plenty of things to explore and experience. The internet connection could be better.

Wonderful short trip by Emily65

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Joy / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

Overall, this was a great mini vacation to see the west coast. The ports allowed me to visited two beautiful places I’ve never never been before. There are a few things that need to be worked out on the ship to make it a little more organized but that will not stop you from having a good time. I would cruise with them again.

Beautifully done, large ship with lots of options by Itrvlfar

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Joy / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

This is beautifully recently renovated for the US market ship with lots of things to do for all ages. The virtual reality area had lots of games and things to do as well as an F1 simulator. The food was excellent across all venues and service was warm and with a smile albeit a little slow in certain venues while they worked out the new ship kinks. The Observation Lounge is a great place in Alaska to view wildlife and scenery and lots of seating along with Starbucks and a bar. This is a large ship and while it can be a challenge to find people as there is no central area that people stroll through, each of the venues is very well done and uniquely themed. One tip if you are in a hallway of cabins, the fish in the carpeting always swim toward the front of the ship, so if you aren't sure which way you are going, just look down and see which way the fish are swimming.

Interesting New England and Canada by tomship

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Joy

Good trip. Stay in crazy Time Square New York. Did the sights we wanted to see and lots of steps. Ship very clean staff friendly bars not over crowded. Pool to myself at times. Slides fun. Food Local for breakfast. Mixed lunch out or other locations. Loved the speciality dining. Entertainment bit weak. Elements not really a main show. Beatles not even I’m that old. The rooms bit too small. Films in the Attrium were good but none on sea day. Sea days where weather not good, difficult to find seating room. Design a bit weird and there were unnecessary rules. With the slide and not eating breakfast on the rails in The Local when you ate late meals there. All in all great trip to different locations. We all enjoyed
