We enjoyed visiting the many Caribbean Ports and touring a few of the sites. The ship's entertainment was the best. The bartending was great also. We might have enjoyed more excursions at each port but time was very limited for each port call.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Too many long lines at the Manhattan Terminal. Our Getaway cabin was clean and as expected.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Drink package was worth the money spent. Short lines, if any, at the numerous bars. Staff was prompt and made great cocktails. We would have liked to pre-register Speciality Night Dinners prior to going onto the ship.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
We really did not use the activities or features.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The stage shows and entertainment was great. Burning Down the Floor, Million Dollar Quartet, Syd Normans bar that had group that covered Fleetwood Mac Rumors LP were EXCELLENT!
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The waiters and bartenders were all prompt and provided quality service. Louis, at the Sunset Bar, was exceptional nice to us during this trip.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
This was the largest ship we have cruised on and was not the best for us. More seating areas with comfortable seating were needed when bad weather prevented passengers from going outside. Inside areas became very crowded.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
We enjoyed the nice large shower but missed not having pull out dresser drawers for clothing.
Ship tip
Be ready to make reservations for speciality dinners right after boarding.
We were scheduled for the Sunset Catamaran ride and the Getaway arrived late and we needed to hurry for this excursion. Rain had started prior to boarding the catamaran and this should have been cancelled and money refunded. Due to the rain the excursion was shortened by about 1 hour and we did receive onboard ship credits.
The Stingray Swim and Snorkel were awesome. First experience for something like this and the staff and attendants did great job allowing us to touch and hold the stingrays. Great experience and one of my favorites for this cruise.
This was the cleanest of all the ports visited. Be careful of local tours not associated with NCL. We rode tour bus with questionable stops at a grocery store and flea market. Beautifuls sites (climbing rode and the north shore lighthouse) and beaches (Beaks and Eagle) on this island.
The taxi drivers at the end of the pier seemed pushy and overly aggressive. They could be queued up for passengers that desire taxis. The walk to Castillo San Cristobal was enjoyable climb to find great history of the fort and great views of San Juan.
The tagging and movement of luggage was good. Locating luggage is always sketchy but learned to use color on luggage to help identify in these situations. No real area in NYC Manhattan terminal for personal car/van pickup.
