the breakfast buffet gets very crowded, La Cuccina is open for extra seating and when it's warm the rear open air cafe is open for breakfast and "Tea Time"

Garden cafe is the best for breakfast, blue lagoon for lunch, and teppanyaki for dinner!

The grill on the back of the ship had great breakfast, small lines, different meals and better coffee .

If you have a problem while on the ship, it is better to keep it to yourself. Most of the staff is foreign and look at you like you are spoiled americans or canadians that just want something for free instead of actually taking care of the problem...all you hear is that they haven't seen their families in 6 months so they can keep their jobs to serve you. so you can tip them better. I think I am going to try flying to the islands next time

Will not recommend the Gem, same as many other travelers mentioned during this sail, compare to other NCL ships, they also think the Gem is one of the worst, very poor room service, very poor choice of food in buffet, tasteless, very bad service in some dining rooms...

If you want to eat in a main dinning room or specialty go when the first show in the Stardust theater is going. Shorter lines. Younger adults do not go during the winter, the crowd is much older and less likely to be a fun crowd.

Go to the garden cafe early, or go to the diningroom for less wait. Our favorite place was the GREAT OUTDOORS on the back of the ship :)

Great Outdoors Buffet for breakfast. The main buffet was too crowded and people were generally rude. Blue Lagoon is open 24 hours. We had late night snacks almost every night. Food was great.

Get to the pool area soon in the morning and wear sunblock. I did and my son, but my husband and daughter did not......ouch no spots left and they got burnt! But still had a great time. Food is everywhere you go and be mindful of how much you eat!
