Good Ship, great crew by hallisu

Great first cruise.  Staff was excellent!  Really enjoyed all of our stops, but would have preferred to be cruising the first 2 days on the way out and only 1 day back.

Best cruise yet! by amber0406

Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My husband and I went on the 7 day western Caribbean cruise in October 2015.  We had a great time.  The ship is beautiful.  The staff was very nice and courteous.  The food was amazing.  I usually don't eat at the buffets, because the food generally isn't very good, but on this ship, it was great.  The beds are rather hard though, I didn't think they were comfortable.  The TV in our ocean view room was great.  We had a flat screen TV, which was bigger than we're used to in our cabin.  The casino only took cash rather than charging your room sea pass card.  That was new for us.  Also, if we wanted to take money off the pass to gamble, they charged us 5%.  I wasn't used to that and didn't really like that aspect, but next time we'll be better prepared with more cash. I thought that they could have added more things to do on the ship.  Maybe more entertainment.  There were times when I was a little bored, and didn't want to enter the bar to play a game, so maybe more formal entertainment would have been great.  Overall, we loved the cruise.

Needs Improvement by jamesmoe63

Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

There were four of us on this cruise, my wife and I and her daughter and son in law. We were not impressed with the ship, it was very utilitarian, and on the first day we were yelled at by crew members about boarding, life boat drill, etc. my wife and daughter are smokers and there were only three places on the entire ship where smoking was allowed without enough chairs to use, even though there were chairs and lounges stored on an unused observation deck. There were activities but none that interested us, I tried out the flow rider, but as a mature adult it was to fast and forceful to enjoy. Every time anyone went to the buffet there was forced use of hand sanitize liquid, which was annoying since we know about proper hand washing. Unpleasant atmosphere.

Above Expectations! by don056

Loved everything about this cruise - from the very friendly and accomodating staff to the top notch entertainment; the impeccable cleanliness of the ship and several- times-a-day room maintenance, this was an incredible trip.  The destinations were beautiful and offered as much fun -or relaxation- as we wanted...  it was as perfect as a vacation gets!

Navigator of the Seas = Old and Dated by daltex52

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was most possibly the worst cruise my wife and have ever been on. The ship is old, dated and at every turn I felt like everyone was trying to get into my hip pocket. The on-board activities were minimal and the crew overall were just not that friendly. The best time we had was on the shore excursions if that tells you anything. On every other cruise we've been on we were made to feel special but this is truly the first time that we felt truly Ordinary and put upon. I would not recommend this ship other itinerary to anyone. Again just my opinion I'm sure there were people who would praise it, but I won't be going back on this cruise ever.

Great Cruise by sredish

Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Had a fabulous week onboard the Navigator. Arrived at 10:45 am for embarkation and was on the ship 25 minutes later. Rooms ready promptly at 1:00, not a big deal to snag a chair on the promenade, have a light lunch and a drink and wait for rooms to open.  We skipped the Windjammer crowds and had delicious turkey sandwiches for lunch at the café...hardly anyone on the Promenade at that time so it was nice.

We had Balcony 8622 on the hump and it was the perfect location for us. Plenty of space, very quiet even though near elevators.

Food was better than most I've had on ships. Staff was wonderful, I honestly don't understand reviews saying the staff was sullen and rude.  Were you on the same ship???  Anyway, we waited until the 4th and final day to purchase the PP drink package to make use of it for the final sea days. Came out way ahead.

The only excursion we did was the Nache Cochum in Cozumel. Fabulous day and plan to return.

Weather was perfect the duration of the cruise and  the seas were eerily calm every day...glassy like a lake.

Disembarked with self walk off at 8:00 am. Line was long on ship, but moved very fast. Through customs and on curb in thirty minutes by 8:30. Do not take later departure and leave bags in hallway night before...crowds and customs gets backed up and disembarkation lines are hours long. Self walk off in Galveston is the only way to go. All in all it was a perfect week. We traveled with three other couples, all agreed it was a fabulous cruise.

No wow factor by andersonsteve59

The ship was very nice. The crew very helpful. Our main dinner staff were just great!! They made our cruise. They made our time fantastic. The down side of this cruise. Drinks on soda were flat!!! Mixed drinks at bar over priced due to lack of alcohol actually placed in your drink. If you want a real drink then eat at place outside bars or main dinner. They give you a great drink! If you want to grab a bite to eat late say after 9 forget it! U can only get deli items. They close there buffet bar! The shows are great but you pay a lot so you should be more satisfied with the overall experience not just shows. Good luck on your journey

Royal Caribbean Navigator of the Seas by unvldclaudia

This was our 4th cruise with RC sailing out of Galveston.  We always enjoy sailing with them.  The crew, food, facilities, excursions are always very good.  We did think the Navigator was showing her age a little, but RC is pulling her for an overhaul and replacing her in Galveston with Liberty.  RC appeals most to a middle aged and older crowd which we like much better than a rowdy, noisy, late night crowd.  They're also great for younger families, too, as they're kid's program seems to be quite popular.  We found no need to eat in any of the specialty restaurants as the main dining room always offered good choices and great service.  I know we will go on a RC cruise again.

Total relaxation by jcsckmmom

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Most of my cruise was very enjoyable but my time in Cozumel was far from enjoyable. When we arrived at the pier my mother had recently had back surgery and so she was very slow the jewelry vendor at the mouth of the pier took ahold of my mothers arm and pulled her into his shop and closed the glass door. I asked my husband to go get my mother the vendor patted my husband on his belly and when my husband extracted my mother he followed us around the market trying to persuade us to buy his goods.I will not visit this port again. Belize and Honduras were very nice and the experience was more to my liking.

Honeymoon Cruise by debajenaru

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

In general the cruise was fine, but definitely not as good as some I've been on for the price I paid.  I was most disappointed in the food: quality, availability and selection.

The staff was great.

Pool extremely crowded

Only 2 ping pong tables found

There seemed to be "additional charges" for so many things.

Spectacular by jabfado

I cannot say enough about the service and treatment of the crew on the Navigator of the Sea.  The dinning room service and food was beyond compare, with many choices of different types of cuisine from escargot, shrimp cocktail, a variety of soups and salads to exquisite main dishes from lobster tail to prime rib and a variety of other main courses.....Darly and Tania went above and beyond serving the 10 at our table....side trips were fantastic also.  I did the zip line in Roatan along with the beach stop.  Belize we did the Wallace river and Altan Ha Mayan ruins, another fantastic adventure.  Our guides, Ken and Captain Kirk were entertaining, knowledgeable and the lunch we had was great for being in a very small village in the middle of no where.  I highly recommend this cruise.  Make sure you use the touch navigators on each floor, simple to operate and a must to use.

Long awaited vacation by betwms1950

Very enjoyable and relaxing vacation.  Went to two new ports that I have never been to and loved them.  It was strange to anchor 5 miles off shore in Belize but tender in was pleasant.

Disappointing Cruise by lgolden

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

While the cruise was about as expected regarding the various stops, the on board experience was much less than we have come to expect from Royal Caribean.  The first night, we were served cold food, which was supposed to be hot.  For example the escargot was served directly from the refrigerator, not even warmed up.  The two production shows were terrible.  First the sound system totally over amplified the voices,  However, even when not that way, the singers were very poor, not only in voice but in appearance.

We had a lot of fun! Everything was perfect starting from the waiter service especial mention to Milo and Francis good teamwork; food is fresh and tasty and stateroom is always clean and neat . The shore excursions were great and well organized.

We enjoyed every bit of our 7 days stay.

Thank you for the beautiful experience at Navigator of the Seas.

Cruise by dlong2

The ship was excellent with lots to do. Digital pictures were great. The Galveston port is a disadvantage because it was totally disorganized coming and going. Cozumel and Roatan Honduras were great ports. Belize was not a good port. Having to tender in crummy and the port didn't have much and was extremely, extremely poor.

First Micalina Alimonti, our cruise agent was excellent. Kept us informed through the whole process from booking to sailing.  Check in and boarding was a breeze. Navigator of the Seas crew was very friendly and helpful. Debarkation was very well organized and fast.

We have gone on about 10 cruises and are continuing to see the cutbacks.  This ranges from food selections to times open at buffet style eateries.

The on board entertainment is suffering also.  The ice show was great.  The entertainers that we brought on board were excellent.  However, the showtime performers were very talented, but their material was very weak.  The sound system was extremely loud.  Even saw people putting their hands over their ears.  One man was putting ear plugs in.

On board amenities were a disappointment.  The stateroom television selections were extremely limited. CNN, in my opinion, is not worth watching. I would prefer Fox news.  There was no constant coverage of Fox, ABC, CBS, or NBC.  When breaking news comes over the television, the only coverage was CNN which I have already stated I will not watch.

The one item that probably upset me the most was the price that the ship was charging for internet services. These ships are loaded with electronic capabilities and choose to withhold services except for those willing to pay for it.

Cruise comments by ctgaudin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I did not receive adequate information to prepare for the cruise. While the we received our excursion tickets, we didn't see anything in the daily news regarding the need for tender tickets or other information regarding leaving me he ship and gathering for the excursion. This was the reason the excursions were booked through Royal Carribean. It was very disappointing.

The food in the Windjammer buffet was not the best. I expected better than cold cuts, hamburgers, and hotdogs. We were not informed that the dining room was available for lunch. May have been an improvement over the Windjamer Cafe. The exit from the Galveston port took way too long. I overheard several complaints from other passengers as I was departing. I was very disappointed with the cruise. I will definitely return to other cruise lines I have previously sailed with and definitely choose a different port to depart.
