7 Night Western Caribbean (Galveston Roundtrip)
Sail Date: October 04, 2015
Ship: Navigator of the Seas
Cabin Type: Balcony
Cabin Number: 7518
Traveled As: Couple

There were four of us on this cruise, my wife and I and her daughter and son in law. We were not impressed with the ship, it was very utilitarian, and on the first day we were yelled at by crew members about boarding, life boat drill, etc. my wife and daughter are smokers and there were only three places on the entire ship where smoking was allowed without enough chairs to use, even though there were chairs and lounges stored on an unused observation deck. There were activities but none that interested us, I tried out the flow rider, but as a mature adult it was to fast and forceful to enjoy. Every time anyone went to the buffet there was forced use of hand sanitize liquid, which was annoying since we know about proper hand washing. Unpleasant atmosphere.

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The main dining food and service was the bright spot on this cruise, great service from our servers Jovin & Yatin, and great food.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
This ship needs a water slide and bigger pools that every one could enjoy, the Flow rider, sports court, rock climbing wall are only fun for young physically fit people.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The Ice Dancing show was great, some of the other shows were all right, but we missed most of them due to out 8:00 pm dining time.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Not applicable. No children traveling with us.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Our main dining room servers Jovin & Yatin were the best, other staff were not very friendly.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
The ship is kept clean, but it is dated and utilitarian with wasted spaces and lacking in 24 hour dining options, upon returning from ports around 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm the buffet and main dining rooms are closed so a hot meal is not available until evening. When using the pool areas you have to get dressed and trek to the Windjammer buffet to get food or coffee or iced tea and lemonade, because there is no pool side food or drink stations (except bars). This is very inconvenient. The Windjammer buffet lacks good traffic flow. Carnival's Lido deck buffets are way better designed, and easier to use.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our cabin was nice, and very clean, no complaints

Ship Tip

The ship needs updating, if you are physically fit the sports deck will be fun. If you want to lounge around, there is plenty of time and space for that. The main dining room food is excellent. If you smoke there are few places where it is allowed and very limited seating in smoking areas.
