Lovely ship by vita2100

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship was lovely, but that was it.. The service, and everything else was horrible.. Very disappointed from the min we got on the ship until we got off..entertainment was very limited.. I've left messages on the 1800 number for MSC because I was unable to register online and no one has returned my call as of now.. Don't waste money on this cruise line, aside from the ship it's not worth the money or time.

Elegant cruise line by lars9581

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was absolutely a beautiful ship. The crystal staircases were mesmerizing. The crew and staff were very friendly and the shows were top notch. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is the flooding on our balcony whenever it rained. We would get almost 2 inches of water due to blocked drains. Then the drain grates would be floating over to our balcony from the next cabin. Our steward was aware but nothing was done. Maybe not much could be done at the time.

Also the dining room food was okay, not great. I have had better. I feel the servers could have stayed on top of keeping our water glasses full as well.

Also, it appears our credit card wasn't registered on the ship. Never heard of our sign and sail card had a limit. We had to go to guest services to understand their policy. She explained that they allow up to $300 limit and we would need to make a deposit or register credit card to continue any further purchases. Any other cruise line, that's handled at time of boarding when we receive our sign and sail cards or at time of online registration which was not there. Fortunately we got the problem resolved. With all said we had a great time and would sail with MSC again.

wonderful time. planning to go again by tamekahward

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

favorite part was all the boat had to offer. shows, staff, and food were amazing

the workers on this boat went above and beyond to help and make this a wonderful trip.

what I would improve .... there was a man that was a guest on the boat and pushed one of the ladies that was a worker in the café. he was in her face and yelling at her..... when the GM of the café came the lady was too afraid to admit what happened. I would encourage the boat to have a class that states this kind of behavior from guests is not allowed at all!!!!!!!!! I know the motto that the guest is always right, well, let me tell you, they are not. we should not except this just to make the guests happy and come back. I was very upset that he did not get in trouble on this cruise. the lady and I had a nice talk after he left and I felt so terrible for her, but she was literally to scared to tell her boss. please work on this msc and tell your staff that it is not okay for guest to put their hands on workers. you all work so hard and are kind that, nobody wants to see this.

overall everything was amazing and I will return in February on 2017 :) Happy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

My Husband and I took our first cruise to celebrate our 10th year wedding anniversary. MSC Divina went above and beyond to make us feel like royalty. Thank you again for the great staff and the cleanliness' on the cruise. The cruise itself was beautiful and the staff was very friendly. We are already planning for our next MSC cruise for next year!

Thank you MSC!

Great cruise by bevjo171

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a wonderful time on this cruise. The nightly shows were excellent. The food was pretty good in the dining room and buffet offered a lot of choices except that it felt like cattle being herded. So many people at one time and had to circle dining room to find a spot to eat! Overall had a great experience and we would recommend this cruise.

Need to Cater More to American Tastes by dhansen168

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

While the Divina staterooms and the ship itself are really nice, the MSC line does have a few things to work on.  It is my understanding that they are really trying to bring in cruisers from the US.  If that is the case, they really need to work on their food offerings.  The buffet was only so-so and the dining room offerings were limited and not very good.  The room service menu is very sparse.  The Eatery Steakhouse, though, was excellent, but pretty expensive.

Crew was exceptional.

Worst cruise ever by safeguardinspec

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Shows were terrible

food was cold during every day at the buffet

employees were rude any never smiled or talked

the dining room manager of the Black crab should be fired,he was so rude I wanted to throw him overboard, filed a report against him

i have never on all the cruises we have been on had such a horrible time,we spent more time in our room than enjoying the ship

the pools had some chemicals that burned my eyes so bad the pool attendant had to flush my eyes

This is only a couple of the items, there are so many more like getting kicked out of the dining room on formal night for being late

Loved the differences!!!! by mspiroch

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We went on the MSC Divina with a wonder, not sure if we would like the Mediterranean feel and customs. We were welcoming surprised. All the different people from over the world was great to sit with and enjoy their stories of where they live and their customs. We loved the entertainment and thought it was the best, as we have been on over 60 cruises. All in all, the cruise was great with their multi languages and warm caring staff that was always trying to please. I will definitely go on another MSC cruise maybe the new one "Surfside" in 2018.

MSC Divina Adventure by jtperkin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Downgrading the rating due to all the trouble I had with the paperwork on short notice booking.  Ship was very beautiful and boarding was very easy, thanks to their loyalty match program.  All shore-side services were a nightmare, with their database changing my birth date, losing the wife's passport number, and I got an upgrade onboard which was said to come with drink packages and massages, but onlu got the loveliest balcony room. After hearing some negative things about the food, I was worried, but I enjoyed it mostly fine. You can't go wrong with St Maarten plane watching and San Juan dining at Barrachina's.  Nassau is boring after like 10 trips, but is good for a hot walk in a pinch.  MIGHT try again someday if I am sure they fixed all the website bugs.

MSC Crisue service by sonicscott

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The MSC Divina was gorgeous, plenty of lounges, food areas, bars and pools. Their should be an over 18 year old pool with shade areas, the over 18 pool is wide open. Seems that every lounge had the same song list no matter what type of music they are playing. I heard "The Girl From Impeneda" at every lounge in every language including the guitarist playing soft rock. Now for important review: None of the employees smile on this ship. i actually mentioned this to the cruise director, Darren, as I saw him walking around. My room servant told me to get my own program when he ran out of them. he lost his tip on this one. If I didnt get my own program I would not have known it was formal dress dinner night. My waiter never remembered my name, I had the same wine every night and he would not even ask us what we ant to drink, I would have to get him and ask him for the same wine (at least they should immediately ask you what you would like to drink when you sit). If you ask for a mixed drink the waiter got upset because he cannot get this he has to get a bar maid. Only one barmaid for the entire restaurant. The excursions can be better managed on ship as they do not tell you much except to meet in a room. Once in the meeting place it would be nice to know to get on line for bus numbers. For the price I paid, as said, you get what you pay for. in expensive trip, low quality service.

MSC Divina is incredible! by miknkat

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We chose MSC because of price and the ship Divina. We had reservations about cruising MSC from many of the reviews so I want to summarize first. This cruise turned out to be our best cruise ever! The ship is beautiful from front to back and still looks brand new. The food was outstanding, the service was above average with the room steward and dining room table waiters being the best we have ever had, and the entertainment deserves all of the world wide awards it has won!

MSC has introduced a lot of innovation in the cruising industry. Some people do not like change, but we applaud change when it makes things better. One example is the key card in the stateroom. When you enter you must put your room key card in a slot on the wall to activate the lighting. I am sure this helps the ship conserve energy, but the real reason they do this is it alerts the room stewards when you are in your room with a small light that goes on above your door in the hallway. It eliminates those irritating knocks on the door when you want privacy and you never get surprised by a steward walking in on you. The efficiency of the steward was absolutely the best. You do not get a chocolate on your pillow or a towel animal every night. Instead you get a meticulously cleaned and prepared room twice a day!

The food including the buffets was excellent. We ate at the buffet for breakfast and lunch only and everything tasted great. I usually take many items to try and find 1/2 not tasting very good and left on my plate, but on the Divina I cleaned my plate every time. The variety on the buffet was everything you find on all other cruises but in addition they offered an ethnic section, a pasta section and a Mediterranean section along with a kids only section.  The buffet pizza was very good. The food in the main dining room was excellent every night  - so much so we ate their 6 nights. Every course of the meal had great flavor with excellent options and variety. You were always encouraged to eat as much as you wanted and ordering 2nds or 3rds was greeted with a smile and the next portion was there in minutes. On Lobster night I saw many people ordering 2 at a time and one person next to us had 4 Lobsters. The desserts were excellent with great taste. Our water glasses were filled before empty and bread was offered several times throughout the meal. After the 1st night the waiter knew if we wanted our wine glasses refilled and always was right there. The dining service could not be any better!

I highly recommend the drink voucher packages offered before the cruise. We had 2 eighteen drink packages for $84 each including gratuities. That's about $4.25 a drink and you do not pay the 15% gratuity - what a savings. BTW, drink prices on board are incredibly reasonable - most drinks including frozen specialty drinks were under $8.

The entertainment each night was the absolute best we have seen on a cruise. The talent and choreography was as good as Vegas and off Broadway. The Michael Jackson tribute on the last night was the best and the way the show closed everything out by celebrating the ethnicity of the passengers and employees was inspiring.  The The evening talent in the bars was excellent and drew big crowds. In our opinion the cheap drinks and drink packages meant the bars were full even at 11 pm which made everything more fun.

To touch on a few of the negative reviews from prior passengers, we just do not get it. The cruise line is European and different in some ways, but not many. The variety of passenger nationalities was great - it gave you a feel of being somewhere different - I do not want to spend my money to feel and eat the same things as I get at home. The people were not rude, they were different. Hearing 3-4 languages in the announcements did not negatively affect us. And BTW there are very few announcements, maybe 2-3 all day. The first day in the buffet was a little unnerving and crowded, but you had 4,000 guests and several hundred workers feeling each other out so there was confusion and stress in a confined area. After the first day everyone was relaxed and there was always someplace to sit - you just had to seek it out. Too many people piled into the buffet entrance and hit the first set of buffet tables- if they would have walked to the 2nd or 3rd set of buffet's they would have easily navigated and found empty tables.

Here are the only negatives we found. but had little effect in our cruise. I do recommend that you demand a room with a sofa - it will give you another 30-40 sq ft. Our room was a little small The pillows in the room were lumpy and below avg. like many reviews said. We would have liked to see more live music by the pool during the day, but there was piped in music when the music was not live. We wish the sports bar would have had more sports channels than espn and espn2. There was a lot of playoff sports going on in hockey and basketball along with world soccer.

The one area people complained legitimately was poolside drink service. You did not see many servers walking the pool chair areas but we figured out the solution early in the cruise. MSC had a very efficient but different system at the pool bars. During peak hours the waitresses took orders at the front of the bar. They took your order and keyed in your key card and drink vouchers enabling the 4-5 bartenders to just mix drinks. It was very fast and efficient. We found you could walk up to the bar, order your drinks through the waitress and tell them where your chairs were and they brought you your drink within minutes.

Disimbarkation was the best we have ever encountered. Again, a little different, but better than others. We had an 8:15 color yellow for disembarkation and were to meet in the theater prior to that time. We ate a leisurely final breakfast around 7:15. Strolled down to the theater around 5 to 8 and turned on our cell phones to catch up to the world again. They called our color around 8:05, a man named Carlos met us and escorted us off the ship. Our luggage was on an airport type carousel and customs was waiting for us and took less than 1 minute. We were in our car and pulling out of the garage at 8:30! WOW!

In closing, we found this cruise to be our best overall. The incredible price did not influence our rating at all, but when you add the price in it makes this cruise an incredible value! We will definitely try MSC again and would do the Divina again in a heartbeat.

Not my top choice of cruise liners by lcollins504

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I was very much looking forward to trying MSC but wasn't too happy.  The ship was fabulous, the staterooms were great and roomy, the entertainment was the best I've seen in 24 cruises I have sailed.  Why am I not happy? Food was fair and the service is lacking.  I actually felt discriminated against on a few occasions because I was American.  Matre D in dining hall was very condescending and rude.  Wait staff could care less.  Will not sail with them again.

MSC customer service sucks by daylisfuentes

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I will continue using cheapcruise because of Jack Knoxville. The price for the cruise was great, the ship art and rooms were beautiful, but the service no matter the beauty of the service was terrible, no one knew anything or made proper efforts to respond questions or made have proper solutions to any issues I had. The people in reception were extremely rude. All those days at sea and not enough show times for the shows offered and not enough activities at all.

Impersonal, strange Ship by marcelzangger

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This is all based on my personal opinion.

To start, food was great and our Stateroom was spacious and comfortable.

(Outside stateroom) That end's the plus list. On the negative site we found the Ships layout very confusing. On some Decks you have to go up or down a Deck to go from one end of the ship to the other. On more then 20 Cruises I haven't been lost on a Ship. Buffet is similar, you have to walk long ways here too, the layout makes not relay sense.

Strange when Staff only speaks one language and that is French?

Waiters din't know anything to tell you about next Days Port of Call or specials.

It was somewhat very impersonal unlike on Royal Caribbean or Carnival.Very limited Shopping options.

So we wont Cruise with MSC again in the near future. Let's see how the new Ship is turning out, they said it will be built for the US market.

Relaxing and Enjoyable by sarabruce

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

the  7 day cruise on the Divina was exactly what we needed!  Just coming off heart surgery, we were able to relax to a couple days at sea before taking excursions on the various islands.  Shows on ship were excellent, food very good in both the dining room and buffet.  Chamber service was good, but a couple nights we did not get any.  It was later explained that we had our room card in the light slot, which signaled to the steward that we didn't want service.  I think some instrux may be prudent here.  Also, the mandatory safety meeting for all cruisers was a little sketchy, and needed more organization.  But, otherwise, all went well!

The third time is a charm! by Cruiser609

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our third sailing on the MSC Divina.  It is a gorgeous, beautifully appointed ship.  Our room was great and our stewardess was prompt and efficient.  The program that MSC offered that matched our loyalty program on another cruise line was excellent.  We received so many nice perks that we will definitely sail with MSC again in the future.

Customer Service was awful by Awoodcrusing

The ship was beautiful, the room was awesome, the customer service was awful. I decided to cruise w/MSC because of the deal for the balcony. I really enjoyed the balcony, but MSC has a lot of work to do with regards to their customer service.

First cruise by njaiamie

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

First experience on a cruise and it was a great. The person that was in charge of cleaning our room 12259 was amazing!!! We appreciate him for everything he did for us and he was very sweet. The only reason it isn't five stars is the fact that we didn't have enough time in bahamas and the food was not as great as I was hoping.  We took all those pictures and when it was time to purchase the deals weren't so great.  Those are the only negatives,  everything sense was fantastic.

Service and food were not that great. by KYCruisers

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

We found that this cruise line did not provide the service and food quality that we have encountered on other cruise lines.  A lot of services were not available unless you had bought more expensive packages.
