great cruise by AliceN1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

being this was our first cruise was not sure what to expect. had heard alot of good and bad stories. all i can say is the whole cruise was great and more than we expected. we are now thinking about when we might be able to go on another cruise. the only thing that i didn't like was the 2 nights of formal wear for dinner. i think there is no purpose for that. we are on vacation in the carribbean and should be able to wear what we want. seeing someone in a tux for dinner was just crazy.

First cruise of the New Year by StephenB4

Sail date: /
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I have cruised with Royal Caribbean many times in the past and was disappointed with the quality and type of food served in the main dining room i.e., no lobster or filet. However, the ship was very clean and well laid out and the staff was great.

Our best vacation ever! by SherylS4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship was so beautiful with so much to do I hated to get off at the ports, but Cococay and St. Thomas and ST. Marten were so beautiful and we had a wonderful time there. The entire staff worked so hard to make sure this would be the best vacation of your life and it was. We have travelled to a lot of places on our own and this was our first cruise. We will never go on our own again we are so hooked on cruises!

I am absolutely sold on cruising! by carrieB53018314

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I sailed on the Mariner of the Seas. It was spectacular. It was our first cruise and I must say we were quite over-whelmed. It was like a sailing city. Everything from our stateroom with an awesome balcony to the beautiful dining room was absolutely stunning. The artwork that decorated the walls, the Royal Promenade, the luxurious pools, all were a sight to see. The entertainment was comparable to many Broadway Shows I've seen and my husband loved the Casino. We were treated royally and vow to make a cruise a yearly event for us.

a Family Cruise by AliU

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our fifth cruise on Royal Carribean and defintiely not our favorite ship. We were told that it was the same as the Voyager (which we were on 4 years ago) but we were not as impressed with this ship. The service was fabulous and the activities for the kids could not be beat. The Chops Grille has excellent food and terrific service, however, the food both at the Windjammer and in the Dining Room was pretty awful. Voyager had outside tables and chairs where we were able to play cards and other games and on the Mariner, this space was taken up by the Chops Grille and Portofino. Voyager had a fun sports bar on the Promenade which this boat did not. The food on Coco Cay was unedible and we ended up going back to the ship to enjoy the frozen yogurt, which was always a huge line since one of the machines was ALWAYS broken!!! We did enjoy the Full Court basketball. Even the entertainment was not as enjoyable. The best part of the vacation was being togethere with 15 members of our family. There was something to do for everyone but i would pick another ship. We loved the Enchanment of the Sea and the Voyager of the Sea much more!

Awesome Cruise by SheriB2

Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Mariner of the Seas is a magnificent ship. It has so many things to do for all age groups and is family friendly! The rooms are spacious (for a cruise ship) and evrything is always kept very clean. Staff is helpful, courteous and friendly at all times. The front desk people are especially accomadating.

Carribean Christmas 2006 cruise by SitiS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Too many indoor smoking areas. The overall staff was not as cheerful and friendly as the staff on Navigator of the Seas. However, it was refreshing to see and hear the Captain thoroughout our cruise. He was always visible, pleasant, and we could understand his announcements. Our dinning room waiter and assistant waiter were very attentive. We even enjoyed dinner talking to two other families whom we met on the cruise, and would have switched to a bigger table to enjoy dinner together.

A Great Cruise by JohnL16

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our first cruise and we were very excited about it. The experience was wonderful and very entertaining. The staff was outstanding. The excursions were very fun and enjoyable. Our only disappointment was evening dining. The food tasted as if it came from a cafeteria, thin steaks, soggy potatoes and overall not pleasing at any of the settings. Shows were excellent, always something going on around the ship. Barring the meal at night this was a great trip!

The Best Family Vacation by PamS7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We recentley returned from a trip on the Mariner of the Seas It was a wondeful vacation for all ages. The accomadations, service, and the food annot be beat by any other service industry. Everyone enjoyed the entertainment from the shows in the everning to the bands they had playing aboard the ship. Our only negative was the children's activities in the age group 12-14, I wish there would have been more activities for the our "cruising" days. Overall the trip was wonderful and we defintely going on another family cruise in the future.

Had A Great Time - Want To Do It Again by JerryB8

Sail date: /
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I have nothing but good things to say about the ship and the crew. The ship and our cabin were spotless. The food was always very good and the selections on the menu were excellent as well. The ports we visited, San Juan St. Thomas and St Maarten were the best. Especially St Maarten. I had never been there before, and I found the shopping to be as good or better than St. Thomas. The entertainment was excellent, especially the ice skating show. I ws truely amazed. Even the disembarkment at the end of the cruise, was very well orgainized, and getting off the ship was pain free.

Definitely enjoyed the cruise by RenateW

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

One of the best in terms of public spaces; Loved the slip free floor covering on the outside decks; The 24 hr cafe on the promenade deck was delightful; the solarium with its spacious hot tops and really hot water were accessable for my handicapped husband and an oasis away from the noisy pool side; the sauna/steam room spa was the best I have ever seen; the handicapped cabin was spacious and the bathroom a real treat for both of us; Bar personal was very discreet in offering drinks (in contrast to many other ships); since I was not that impressed with the food (there were exceptions, of course), the evening at the Portofino restaurant deserves *****. Highest quality in decor, service, menu items and an absolute bargain for $20.

Great Ship and Wonderful People by Linda13

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We sailed on THE MARINER OF THE SEAS, mid Decemberof 2006. We heard she is scheduled for dry dock in 2007 to re-vamp her. We found no faults with the ship or the service. The food in all the restraunts was excellent. We waited too long to get a reservation in CHOPS GRILL, but we will surely make our reservations early on the next cruise. We had a balcony room and found it to be delightful. Our cabin was always in the best of order and the storage space was un-believable. We really enjoyed our anniversery sailing on the Mariner of the Seas.
