Review summary

OVerall good experience. The most negative was the public restroom situations with clogged public ladies toilets all the time. I have also witnessed the custom of spitting asian passenger on the carpet. Praise for the ship physician whom I had to visit, unfortunately.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
We had been on Majestic starting in Dubai and then changed cabins in Singapore. It would have been nice not to be mandatory to leave the ship in order to continue on the 21-day leg in the new cabin.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was average even though the head chef was Swiss. Could have had a bit more distinct spices, not quite as neutral in taste in the main dining room. I missed the ice cream parlor at the Piazza like on the sister ships.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Lectures were interesting. interesting performances from new groups coming on board, especially athletics. Musical groups in bars, i.e. Crown Grill, was not very varied. Quartets = violinists were excellent, but choice of pieces was not very varied. The piano accompanied groups/singers repertoire was not too great.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
see above

Children's Programs

no children

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Waiters were very attentive, efficient

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
Sanitary conditions were deplorable in ladies public restroom due to asian/muslim toileting customs. For a ship to be berthed in Asia it would be advisable to consider this population. Bathrooms for these woman need to be equipped for them, at least a few on each public floor. That would eliminate a lot of blogged toilets.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Very nice and comfortable.

Ship tip

Sails well in rough seas. Very little motion noted.

Ports of call

Singapore

4 out of 5
Due to our change in cabins and therefore being counted as a new embarkation, we were not able to book excursions from the ship. We took a taxi and went to a park.

Laem Chabang (Bangkok), Thailand

4 out of 5
due to ship size and using industrial port, not much to do in port. Excursion was good.

Phu My (Ho Chi Minh City), Vietnam

4 out of 5
Industrial port. Had to take an excursion to get anywhere. Excursion was good.

Xiamen, China

4 out of 5
Industrial port. Excursion was good.

Hong Kong

5 out of 5
Entering into the port of Hong Kong with great views was a great experience. Took subway and explored on our own.

Keelung (Taipei), Taiwan

4 out of 5
Industrial port. Excursion good.

Yokohama (Tokyo), Japan

5 out of 5
Excursion was not too exciting. Japanese tour guide was boring to say the least. She was not able to speak fluently, was repeating everything three times at least. Separate outing on our own into Yokohama was quite nice, with shuttle.

Osaka, Japan

4 out of 5
Excursion into city. Shopping stop nice.

Incheon (Seoul). South Korea

4 out of 5
Industrial port. Shuttle into city. Not too exciting. Customs inspection on ship was terribly understaffed for the amount of passengers. Took way too long.

Shanghai, China

4 out of 5
Disembarkation. Somewhat confusing when boarding the excursion bus on the way to airport.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Formalities on the ship were normal/okay. Confusing to find the bus for the excursion to the airport.
