Incheon (Seoul). South Korea Cruises

Incheon (Seoul). South Korea overview

Seoul is mega-modern and appealingly ancient. Flattened in the Korean War, most of the city has been rebuilt since the 1950s. Peeking out from among the 12-lane freeways, overshadowed by high-rises, Seoul has a hidden history of centuries-old temples, palaces, pagodas and pleasure gardens. It also has cheap accommodation, excellent public transport and cultural experiences aplenty, and that's why most visitors to South Korea never get past its city limits.

Almost 2 hours from Incheon to Seoul - bad traffic too. Emperor's palace was a special place to go, though. Lunch was good as well. Guide was so repetitious, saying things like: "Are we bus 10? NO - We're bus 9 - are we bus 11? NO - We're bus 9." This was repeated at least 6 or 7 times! We felt like he was talking to little toddlers.

The ship was late on arrival arriving late in the afternoon. There was only a few hours time available to tour the island. The ship offered free shuttle service from the pier to the city of Incheon. We purchased a one way train ticket to Seoul and visited a couple local shopping centers. We returned to the ship late in the evening. The ship was fogged in until the next morning.
