Get out of your cabin and enjoy all the public spaces. The second show in the theater usually has more open seating. Go to the dining room and have a relaxing meal.

Get to all the Naturalist talks at the theater. They are a must in order to get the most of your Alaskan experience on the ship. He'll tell you about the "secret" viewing decks. Use ACT Tour bus to come/go from ship. Better prices and itinerary then through Princess! We did the full day tour from Whittier to Anchorage.

Enjoy the adventure

Understand this is an older ship and does not compare to other ships in Princesses fleet

Beware of the food and overall cost , you don’t get what you pay for

There are alot of positive and negative reviews about the island princess, go with an open mind and enjoy. Loved the size and layout of the ship.
troubadore
it’s not a floating Disneyland like I’ve heard about on other ships. But it is a classy and fun sailing experience!

Before your first morning of getting coffee, figure out the elevators before going and getting coffee for your roommate. That way coffee won't be cold.

Sail with another cruise line, NOT PRINCESS.

The ship is small which allow a more relaxing experience. You get to know your staff better.

If sailing on Island Princess go with traditional dining as opposed to anytime. The ship has been modified to accommodatemore guests but still has the same dining capacity making the wait time for anytime dining longer.
TillECornhusker
Eat in the dining rooms.

Check the children into kid’s club online before boarding. Take their passport to register as soon as you get on board so you can lock it in the safe for the rest of the cruise.

Don’t eat at the bayou cafe
PrioritySail
Sit back, relax and "sea" the world. The Island Princess has it covered!
Mifsisco
Island is a very good sized ship with close amenities in no time

If I did this trip again I'd splurge for a balcony room. If you add a land package, do it first that way you have the first2 days at sea to relax before starting port excursions.
