If you want a good deal, this is the cruise for you. Just don't expect Princess food to be top quality. Cutbacks have lowered their brand for sure.
It is a nice ship. Comfortable rooms. Great staff. Well laid out.
Embarkation

Very smooth! With one exception. Making us sit on those stupid blue plastic fold up chairs waiting was just cruel! Fine for a younger crowd, but not for us older folks!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Main dining rooms were good. The first night our meal was so bad that we just could not eat it and i was pretty bummed out. Dining room improved as the week went on. Buffett was so disappointing. I expected Princess to be better then any previous cruises. They were by far the worst.
Onboard Activities

Ventriloquist, Comedian, Naturalist and the singers and dancers at the theater were really good. But there really did not seem like there was much else to do.

Having Mark the Naturalist on board really made the cruise for me. He was a great asset!

Comfortable beds are a must and Princess did not disappoint! Shower was not as bad as i had heard. Balcony seemed a little it bigger then what I've had in the past.
Ship tip
Get to all the Naturalist talks at the theater. They are a must in order to get the most of your Alaskan experience on the ship. He'll tell you about the "secret" viewing decks.
Use ACT Tour bus to come/go from ship. Better prices and itinerary then through Princess! We did the full day tour from Whittier to Anchorage.
Went to Mendenhall Glacier via shuttle and hiked to the falls as well as saw a mother black bear and her cubs catching and eating the salmon at the stream. Could have reached out and touched them from the footbridge. The highlight of our trip! Rangers were there to keep us safe. We really lucked out! Best time to see this is when the Salmon are running up stream. In August.
My favorite place! Get out early to the secret decks 11 or 10. That is for sure the place to be to see them!
Words cannot descibe!
But listen to these Glasiers! They are trying to tell us to get our heads out of the sand...Global warming is REAL!
WhitePass train/bus all the way up to the Yukon. As a Canadian, we were thrilled to see the beauty of northern British Columbia as well as the Yukon. Breathing views from the train and bus! Great trip!
