Review summary

Just not worth the price we paid, there were 6 of us all together (adults) and we all felt the same. I actually lost weight the food was just that bad Would I go to Alaska again .. yes, BUT never again on a cruise

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Busy but did move along, having to keep getting stops for a photo a bit annoying

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Worst food ever. On an Alaska cruise you would think they could cook salmon, crab etc... The specialty restaurants a slight bit better if you ate chicken....not worth the extra you have to pay.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
Too cold for the pool, didn’t use the fitness center - walked the ship

We took the land and cruise a month ago. We loved almost all of it but it does ask you to rate specific parts of your cruise. Island princess had some issues. With princess or any cruise you expect somethings to be better than average. The buffet was ok. I have had better! Thank god for anytime dining. Our food was great and our wait staff was amazing. The staff and the scenery is what made this trip. There was a terrible smell for the first part of the cruise. So bad at times you held your nose. It’s smelt like they had sewage problems and that was not pleasant. The ship seem dated but clean. We upgrade to a mini suite and it was ok. The couch was old . I’m sorry but when you spend 4,000pp you do expect more. It didn’t ruin our trip but I would not sail island princess again. We loved the crew especially our waiters and stewards. We enjoyed the entertainment. This was our second time going and will probably go again. Just not island princess.

I am very surprised. I was on it last December and had no complaints. I agree that you are not ready for another cruise. I have taken several and on Princess.

You take your attitude everywhere you go! Our tour group does this cruise yearly and many have done it several times. I can't wait to see it! I usually day Blessed cruise, but maybe you are happier at home. Joy

It definitely sounds like cruising is not for you. Possibly not even traveling since it seems you do not like to spend money on anything. You mentioned the shops in every port, but there is no requirement to go in the shops. I was too busy looking at the amazing scenery to hardly even notice shops in any of the ports in Alaska.
