Review summary

This was our first cruise. We loved the fact the cruise experience could be what you wanted it to be. Things we enjoyed: eating in anytime dining, afternoon tea, presentations by naturalist Mark Harris, Wheelhouse bar and singing by Phoenix Rising, comedy and majic acts in theater, trivia contests, medallion net, message services and online services with ocean ready.

Left our hotel the Fairmont Pacific Rim at 11:30 by hotel service car. Arrived in the drop ofg zone. Luggage was taken by porters. Lots of walking to signing, security and customs. Each line was no longer than 5min. On board with access to our rooms shortly after 12:30 Some bags had arrived. All arrived by 1pm and unpacked, ready to explore the ship.

Bed was comfortable. Space was adequate. Lots of closet space. Balcony was amazing on the cruise for sight seeing. We were starboard. Either side would have been good.

Ship tip

There are alot of positive and negative reviews about the island princess, go with an open mind and enjoy. Loved the size and layout of the ship.

Only activity in Skagway proper was a visit to the Red Onion. Rented a car and drove through BC to the Yukon. Saw the rail and trail, beautiful mountains, lake Tutushi, lake bennet, Emerald lake, Carcross, Carcross desert. So many photo opportunities. Even dae black bear at the side of the road.

Unbelievable beauty. The loud thunderous noise of ice cracking before calfing of Glacier was unbelievable.

Glad you enjoyed the cruise and Alaska. We love both. Nothing is ever perfect, but I’ve never had a bad cruise. I’m surprised at how many people can seem to have a miserable time on a cruise or on vacation. They must have an amazing work and home life to find so much wrong with a cruise.
